We have an exciting new opportunity to join us as our Head of Communications and be a driving force in making that shift by creatively leading strategic communications and campaigns.
You will also play an important role by working with an external agency on the development of a new legacy proposition and supporting materials, as well as working on internal legacy promotions and staff training.
In this role you will lead our media, social media, campaigns and engagement functions, as well as project teams across the charity. You'll grow our engagement with diverse audiences and support them to take action towards ambitious campaign goals.

Our location
We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role there is plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be occasions when you will need to attend directorate days and face to face meetings. In addition, the charity meets four times a year at the office in Hatfield for our mandatory 'All Staff Together' days.

About the role
The Communications Officer will play a key role in sharing the stories and impact of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, helping to raise awareness of our work supporting seriously ill children and their families across the UK. Working closely with the PR Associate and Brand & Marketing Manager, this role will deliver creative, high-quality communications across media, digital, and print channels. From crafting compelling stories and press materials to supporting digital campaigns and website content, the Communications Officer will help ensure our brand and messages reach and inspire key audiences.

Key Responsibilities:
PR & Media Support
• Work closely with the PR Associate to coordinate and facilitate PR and media activity.
• Draft press materials including press releases, media statements, and briefing notes.
• Support in identifying media opportunities and nurturing media relationships.
• Monitor media coverage and track PR outputs for reporting and evaluation.
Content Creation & Copywriting
• With direction from the Brand & Marketing Manager, produce engaging and brand-aligned copy for social media, website, email marketing, fundraising materials, and promotional collateral.
• Develop case stories with our families for fundraising reports and to support media, fundraising, and stakeholder communications.
• Contribute to blog creation, news updates, and storytelling content that showcases organisational impact.
Digital & Website Management
• Work with the Brand & Marketing Manager to support in managing website updates, ensuring content is current, compelling, and aligned with campaign priorities.
• Upload blogs, news articles, and multimedia content to digital platforms.
• Liaise with internal teams to ensure digital content reflects ongoing organisational activity.
Celebrity/Influencer Engagement
• Manage and coordinate the organisation’s celebrity and influencer programme of activities.
• Support in identifying potential ambassadors and maintaining existing relationships.
• Assist in developing content and opportunities that drive ambassador engagement and visibility
Campaigns, Assets & Marketing Materials
• Support the development and production of communications assets, including leaflets, brochures, event materials, and fundraising collateral.

- Protect our peatlands. The Park contains some of the most degraded upland peatland anywhere in Europe. We’re working to restore Peak District blanket bogs and peatland back to health, conserving this vital carbon capturing habitat for the future.
- Restore habitats. Nature is in crisis even in our National Park. We’re working to create bigger, better and more joined up habitats across the Peak District, supporting biodiversity and providing essential corridors for wildlife.
- Connect people and communities to nature. The more people who are connected to nature, the more people will want to protect it. We are working to ensure people of all ages and backgrounds have opportunities to experience and care for our National Park.
- Ensure access for everyone. There are over 1,600 miles of paths within the National Park. We’re working to fund high quality path repair, improve access for people with disabilities and help more people enjoy their right to roam.
- Protect our cultural heritage. The Peak District landscape has been shaped by people. We’re working to protect and conserve these irreplaceable heritage sites, from historic buildings and industrial structures to pre-historic features.

About you
Our ideal candidate is a dependable communicator who enjoys the day-to-day delivery of communications - planning and scheduling content, creating and posting on social media, drafting newsletters, updating the website, and producing simple graphics and videos. They are organised, detail-oriented, and help keep our communications running smoothly. They will also understand how to communicate across different geographies and audiences, and bring some familiarity with the UN system, as well as experience working in INGO or global health advocacy contexts.
The role
Key components of the role include:
- Social media content development - collaborate with internal subject specialists to produce consistent and frequent on-brand written and visual content for social channels, in support of brand and advocacy goals. You’ll use Canva, Adobe Creative Suite and AgoraPulse for this.
- Email - develop, write and send UnitedGMH’s regular email newsletter, working with internal staff to source news, updates and relevant content tailored for email subscribers.
- Website development - develop, maintain and update content for the UnitedGMH website - including uploading content and editing pages.
- Social media channel and community management - lead on day-to-day management and posting on UnitedGMH social media channels, including X, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Manage paid social campaigns where required. Use monitoring tools to manage social media comments (organic and paid).
- Brand guardian: Be a steward of the UnitedGMH brand, helping to ensure consistent application of visual identity and tone of voice across all external organisational outputs, maintaining high standards of design.
- Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting - create regular analytic reports for social, website and email channels.
- Editorial planning and communications calendar management - lead on the maintenance of the organisation’s communications calendar, ensuring content across channels is planned-in-advance of key advocacy moments.
- Team support - support the communications team through project management, meeting management, processing supplier invoices, keeping journalist lists up-to-date, and other responsibilities where needed.
- Ad-hoc support for the Global Mental Health Action Network - you’ll also provide a supporting function as needed for the GMHAN team, including tasks related to website and social management, plus others where needed.
Requirements
- Understanding, and experience in use, of online channels (incl. website content management systems (CMS) such as Wordpress and Squarespace, a broad spectrum of social media platforms and email marketing through Mailchimp)
- An excellent copywriter, with demonstrable experience crafting copy for different audiences - including for social media and email newsletters
- Strong research and proofreading skills, adapted to key audiences

At over 200 acres, Crystal Palace Park is far larger than most urban parks. Beloved as a ‘back garden’ to many people in the surrounding neighbourhoods, it is also of national and international significance due to its design as the grounds to the Victorian architectural masterpiece, The Crystal Palace, and its rich, unique heritage, including the 170-year-old world-famous Dinosaurs. In September 2023, after 25 years of community campaigning, Crystal Palace Park Trust took over custodianship of this historic landscape and its unique venues via a 125-year lease from the London Borough of Bromley. The Policy and Campaigns Officer will develop policy positions and campaigns that will help ensure that the needs, rights and priorities of those living with DMD are understood and acted on by decision makers, policy makers, parliament and government. The Officer will work closely with colleagues in the Policy and Communications team to support a cohesive and impactful approach to policy, engagement and communications.
Job Description
- To ensure that the charity’s policy and campaigning work is firmly grounded in the views and experiences of the DMD community and to ensure that they are consulted and involved in the development (and delivery where appropriate) of Duchenne UK’s policy positions and campaigns.
- To maximise the benefits of our existing relationships with civil servants, parliamentarians, policy makers, relevant organisations (such as NICE) and charity sector professionals and to create new relationships which help us to achieve our aims.
- To organise events and parliamentary activity working with parliamentary supporters and the DMD community.
- To devise low-budget campaigns aimed at creating positive change in policy, practice or attitudes that will improve the lives and outcomes of those living with DMD.
- To create campaign assets such as digital and social media content in collaboration with the communications team.
- To draft consultation responses, policy positions and occasional short reports summarising the findings of research we have conducted or commissioned.
- To monitor relevant government proposals and initiatives, identifying those likely to have a major impact on the lives of those living with DMD, and to seek to influence their development.

Person Specification
Essential experience:
- Experience of working in a policy and/or campaigning role.
- Experience of writing for a range of audiences and using different channels to produce convincing, clear and succinct content across a range of platforms such as blogs, web and print.
- Experience of working with civil servants and parliamentarians.
- Experience of using digital and social media for influencing and campaigning purposes.
Desirable experience:
- Project management experience including initiating, planning, implementing and evaluating campaigns and organising events.
- Experience working in health and social care space, with pharmaceutical industry and/or a highly regulated industry and engaging with regulators.
Essential knowledge:

Job Purpose
We’re looking for a talented and motivated Communications and Engagement Officer who can effectively convey the life-changing impact of our work, motivate our community to volunteer, donate and fundraise to support our work, and ensure that the information and educational resources we provide reach those who need them most.
Key Responsibilities
Communications:
· Act as the first point of contact for IPWSO’s public email address and social media channels and ensure timely and appropriate replies.
· Manage IPWSO’s social media channels, creating original and engaging content and posts, and actively engaging with our audiences.
· Manage Google Ad Grant campaigns with an emphasis on growing our supporter base and increasing individual giving.
· Keep up to date with emerging trends in digital communications and social media and recommend potential new channels for fundraising and audience engagement.

Engagement:
· Provide support for online events programmes, in cooperation with IPWSO’s Project Manager and the Online Events Committee. The type of support to be provided includes hosting Zoom sessions, supporting speakers, follow up administration including evaluations.
· Support IPWSO’s Famcare Board by facilitating their online meetings and assisting with their online events.
· Work with the Project and Operations Manager to provide membership support, liaising with IPWSO’s member organisations as needed.
· Proactively engage with member associations to promote IPWSO and also to understand their needs and how IPWSO can be of help.
· Work with the Project and Operations Manager on our Educational Outreach programmes. Work will include liaising with event organisers with regards to IPWSO’s booths at different conferences, ensuring follow up as needed (including help with preparation of PowerPoint slides), engagement follow up including data entry to update our database (Donorfy).

The Role
The Senior Digital and Content Manager leads the development and delivery of Malaria No More UK’s digital content strategy — shaping how we inspire action, influence decision-makers and elevate diverse voices to drive progress against malaria.
This is a pivotal role at a pivotal moment. You’ll design and deliver a digital engagement strategy that advances our advocacy and policy change goals, responds to the fast-moving communications landscape, and builds understanding, belief and momentum for investing in the fight to end malaria.
Combining strategic thinking, creative storytelling and digital innovation, you’ll position Malaria No More UK as a bold, credible and solutions-focused voice in the global malaria fight.
