As a dedicated marketing resource in this small but energetic charity team, the role of marketing assistant is to help elevate Youth Talk’s story and brand awareness amongst its target markets. The Marketing Communications Planning Manager is responsible for planning and ensuring the delivery of a strategically aligned plan for the Marketing and Communications Team. Samaritans is looking for a Marketing and Fundraising Officer to join their Donor Engagement team on a fixed term contract covering maternity leave. This role raises vital funds for the future by organising marketing campaigns and managing key fundraising products to grow income from gifts in Wills and in memory giving.

Internally this role is called Legacy and In Memory Marketing Officer. Our small team is friendly, ambitious and collaborative. You’ll get to learn what legacy and in-memory is all about, as part of a supportive team.
• £32,000 per annum
• 12 month fixed term contract
• Full time (35 hours) hours or Part time (a minimum of 28 hours) considered

• Start date around 24 June 2024
• Hybrid, linked to our Ewell (Surrey) office. Due to the requirements of the role, you’ll need to work in the office around 2 times per month.

Skills and experience you’ll bring
We’d welcome applications from candidates either in or outside of the charity sector. There are many other roles with great transferable skills for example around managing marketing campaigns, fundraising products, or other customer facing roles.
Key skills you’ll need
• Great organisational skills which will help you to manage projects and develop supporter journeys.
• Relationship building skills which will help supporters to feel connected to our cause, and inspired to support Samaritans.
• Interpersonal skills for working well with colleagues, suppliers and volunteers.
• Data analysis skills so that you can assess and report on how activities are performing, and optimise your approaches.
• Knowledge of gifts in wills and in-memory giving (or a willingness to learn).

About you
We are looking for someone to bring demonstrable experience and dynamism to the team, and who will make evident to colleagues the value of coordinated communication strategies and plans in achieving our organisational objectives. You will understand the opportunities created in testing new channels and approaches to reach audiences; be creative with communications plans and deliverables; and see the importance of tracking content performance against agreed KPIs.
About the role
This role will line-manage four direct reports, delivering communications and marketing activity across the organisation. Working closely with the Head of Communications and Marketing, key activities for 2024/25 will include updating our content management system; rolling out a new marketing function within our CRM; delivering agreed communications elements for our 60th anniversary programme; and working with colleagues to ensure all digital marketing activity is integrated, value for money, agile by design and delivers against our strategic priorities.
