About the Role

As a member of the newly formed development team this is an exciting opportunity to grow our expertise and provide support to the Development Director in the following areas: fundraising, business/charity development, communications, marketing.

Bipolar is a severe mental health condition, characterised by extreme mood changes that range from manic highs to suicidal lows, affecting 2% of the UK population, and we are seeking a candidate who can work as part of our developing engagement in research, alongside our dedicated team of staff and volunteers in realising our ambition of making a far reaching and meaningful difference to the everyday lives of those impacted by Bipolar.

This role is 90% remote working. 

The Postdoctoral Research Manager will assist the Director of Research in running Bipolar UK’s Research Division:

• working with the charity and its multiple partner projects and collaborators to deliver on our current research commitments
• to develop the long-term sustainability of the Bipolar UK Research Division

This is an exciting role which will combine overseeing and managing existing and prospective research partnerships with research teams around the country and world, and taking part in the development of Bipolar UK-led research.

Current research partners include teams at UCL, Oxford, Cardiff and the GW4 Alliance, Swansea, King’s College London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Lancaster, Liverpool, together with international organisations such as The Global Bipolar Cohort and the International Society for Bipolar Disorders. Our aim at Bipolar UK is to integrate research into the charity in a way which combines more traditional elements of facilitating lived experience involvement alongside actively contributing to and directing research. We are also striving to increase awareness of bipolar and to campaign for more bipolar-specific research, addressing the ‘bipolar gap’ within research and services.

Bipolar UK is very much a user-driven organisation. Approximately one-third of our staff, including our Director of Research, have lived experience of bipolar themselves, while many more have lived experience through family or close friends. Although lived experience is not essential for this role, we especially welcome applications from those with lived experience of bipolar and will expect anyone who takes on this role to have insight into the needs and priorities of the bipolar community, and a commitment to undertaking research which focuses on bipolar.

Every 20 minutes, someone is killed or seriously injured on UK roads. For families affected, the emotional and practical challenges are immense. As a Caseworker, you will provide direct, trauma-informed care to individuals and families suffering from the sudden bereavement or life-altering injury of a loved one. Working mostly remotely, with home visits to service users, you’ll offer vital emotional and practical support—including helping them access therapeutic resources, financial assistance, and guidance through the complexities of medical and legal processes.

This role is flexible, allowing you to structure your own working pattern within weekdays from 8am to 6pm. While travel is required, you’ll have control over your diary. The work is challenging but immensely rewarding, requiring resilience, empathy, and a dedication to making a real difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

· Providing direct support to road victims and their families in the Kent, Essex & East region, following Brake’s trauma-             informed model of care.

· Managing a caseload of service users, ensuring their emotional, practical, and advocacy needs are met.

· Undertaking comprehensive needs assessments and creating individualised support plans

· Offering emotional and practical support—this can include helping families access therapeutic resources, financial                 aid,or even facilitating keepsakes to honour the memory of their loved ones

· Liaising with professionals, including police officers, Family Liaison Officers, mental health services, coroners, GPs,               and other support organisations.

· Advocating for victims within medical, legal, and social services to ensure their voices are heard.

· Providing support through multiple channels, including in-person, remote calls, video chats, and messaging,                           depending on service user preferences.

· Completing safeguarding assessments and escalating concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead when needed.

· Maintaining accurate case records in compliance with data protection policies.

The Opportunity

The Director role is a new opportunity working across ImpactEd Evaluation. Our partnerships encompass education organisations such as charities, edtech organisations and government, and schools and multi-academy Trusts. Operation Christmas Child UK (OCC) has implemented a strategic volunteer ministry, investing in teams of volunteers who will multiply themselves and hugely extend the reach of OCC’s mission.

OCC is the world’s largest shoebox appeal where Samaritan’s Purse, together with local churches here and overseas, distributes from the UK 1/4 million gift-filled shoeboxes annually to children in need overseas and in so doing demonstrates God’s love in a tangible way while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

A resourceful and energetic Regional Manager is needed to recruit, select, equip, and lead teams of volunteers throughout the 32 London boroughs.

You will be passionate about developing others towards highly effective ministry, teamwork and increased personal competency.

You will also directly engage churches to participate in OCC in areas not yet covered by Connect volunteers. A special opportunity will be engaging London churches that have partnered with our sister ministry, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for the June 2025 God Loves You Tour London.

You will be confident to take initiative with people and projects and also have good administrative and organisational skills. You will also enjoy envisioning the numerous volunteers who participate in the OCC shoebox appeal each year.

  • Processing faith/ belief community registrations and maintaining records
  • Approaching existing and prospective faith/ belief communities, including follow up to the annual survey and periodical team campaigns
• Assisting with the production of the annual physical directory
• Co-ordinating the annual Affiliates Scheme

Supporting events, including:

• Support in the administration of the online Prisons Awareness Course and other webinar events, including technical support

• Preparing resources and/or PowerPoint presentations and booking logistics, in consultation with the Project Manager and the Communications & Fundraising Officer

Leading on administration, including:

• Answering phone, email, and letter enquiries
• Purchasing of supplies and dispatch of resources
• Co-ordinating and setting up meetings
• Collating routine data and creating trackers to support operations
• Creating an annual team planner
• Taking minutes at specific meetings
• Leading on team password management
• Following up with stakeholders as required

Supporting on financial operations, including:

• Processing expenses claims and issuing internal invoices
• Paying-in cheques and paying external invoices
• Maintaining the organisational asset register
• Obtaining Gift Aid declarations

You will be an experienced team administrator who will support the Brand and Marketing team on a variety of projects, with a particular focus on daily creative resource support. This will require daily communication with colleagues from client teams across the organisation as well as with external suppliers to help coordinate the delivery of high-profile brand projects and campaigns.

About the Migrant Futures Institute 

The Migrant Futures Institute (MFI) is being established at Goldsmiths in 2025 thanks to a major philanthropic commitment by Oak Foundation in academic year 2024-25.

The MFI is set to be a beacon of rigorous research, innovative policy solutions, and creative approaches to understanding and reshaping migration discourse. Through collaborative research and creative practice, the MFI engages directly with migrant organisations and communities, working with them to generate new knowledge, cultivate understanding, and support their well-being, creative and work aspirations. 

About the Role 

Building on an 8-figure philanthropic commitment made by Oak Foundation, the Development Manager will play a key role in securing the long-term viability and success of the Migrant Futures Institute. Working with the Director of Development and Alumni Relations and the MFI Director, the post holder will ensure that fundraising is an embedded strategic priority. They will develop and deliver outcome-led fundraising strategies that work within the broader University fundraising and communications environment and achieve philanthropic fundraising targets. 

About the Candidate 

You will demonstrate your ability to make things happen, to manage and move relationships forward, to communicate inspiring messages and build warm relationships that deliver support for the Migrant Futures Institute at Goldsmiths. Your dynamic and proactive approach will be combined with a track record of delivering successful fundraising campaigns and experience of building partnerships and delivering support, ideally in an academic context, but transferrable skills from candidates looking to move into the sector are also welcomed. Understanding of and insight into the discourses, civic and academic organisations and issues related to migration in society would also be advantageous.
