Role Purpose:
This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact on hundreds of civil society, social movements and community groups around the world, driving funding to where it is needed most. The Head of Development will join the central team, reporting to the CEO and will be responsible for forging relationships with funders, as well as identifying opportunities to engage with local community groups.
They will share the Social Change Nest’s ambitions to transform funding for grass roots organisations and coalitions by reimagining fundraising, removing structural barriers and encouraging institutional funders to support community interests. They will oversee the Marketing, Communications & Development Assistant and one other team member and will collaborate with Risk, Compliance and the Innovation Managers. This is a busy and exhilarating role with opportunity to grow and develop. We are planning to increase the size of the team over the next year.

At The Social Change Nest, we’re radically transforming the funding landscape. We nurture grassroots groups and enable funders to support frontline social action by offering fiscal hosting, grant management, grant distribution and fund management services. We currently support over 500 community groups across the UK and abroad addressing climate to housing, wellbeing and animal rights. We are pioneering fiscal hosting in the UK and have distributed grants to groups that otherwise would not have had access to the opportunity. Since our inception we have ensured over £23m has got safely into the hands that need it.
We have a 5 year strategy for scaling, innovating and supporting more civil society both in the UK and abroad. Over the next 12 months we are aiming to raise a significant capital investment, secure our income streams, launch 2 new game changing products and expand into Europe.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build strong rapport with clients and community groups to ensure effective implementation of our strategy, supporting the team responsible for project delivery.
- Identify and secure new funding opportunities with clients, creating tailored proposals to appeal to funder appetite and needs.
- Oversee and contribute to external communications and marketing campaigns.
- Oversee the business development pipeline, ensuring its effectiveness and alignment with our strategic goals.
- Deliver high-quality bid proposals and pitch documents to support business growth.
- Develop and implement client management and engagement strategies, including our philanthropic networks, enhancing operational relationships and value.
- Grow new strategic partnerships with civil society and local community groups and identify their funding requirements, ensuring optimum communication with those grass roots groups.
- Analyse and present HubSpot data to inform strategic decisions and refine our offering.
- Manage budgeting processes and prepare essential documentation for pitches and contracts.
- Be an ambassador for the Social Change Nest, representing the business at industry conferences, events and workshops and grow strategic partnerships.
- Champion the maintenance and improvement of our CRM system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- 4-5 years in a business development, sales or client facing role.
- Proven business development expertise with a track record of winning new business and able to apply these skills to enhance our business development strategies.
- Able to use your knowledge and skills to identify and seize opportunities for growth through partnerships, projects and clients.
- A solid understanding of the philanthropic and grant-making sectors in order to enrich our strategies and client interactions.
- Numerate and adept at analysing data to derive insights that guide business planning and strategy.
- Outstanding customer service skills, both proactive and reactive. Your reliability, trustworthiness, and ability to respond to our clients’ needs set you apart.
- Excellent pitch and bid-writing skills with an ability to craft compelling proposals that resonate with our target audience, including design and pricing.

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. This will include a team of Housing Caseworkers who will carry out assessments and advocacy work with young people under 25 who are fleeing violence and exploitation, in order to move them on successfully into both emergency and long-term housing options. You should be passionate about working with this client group, able to manage a fast-moving caseload, and committed to working collaboratively with a team across multiple services.

The opportunity

The Role
Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Strategic Financial Planning & Control is a pivotal position within the Cycling UK team. Working as part of the leadership team within Cycling UK, this is an important role in leading the finance team and working to enhance the organisation’s longer-term strategic vision.
- Line management of the finance team members (4 reports) including supporting the development of all direct reports;
- Leading the preparation and implementation of a multi-year plan and annual budget aligned with our business planning and programme management processes;
- Lead budget and forecast reviews at appropriate intervals in the financial year to ensure accurate and timely forecasts of income and expenditure;
- Collaborating with the Chief Operating Officer, Senior leadership team and Heads of department to develop and embed a robust finance strategy which supports the delivery of our organisational strategy and aligns with our growth aspirations;
- Develop and maintain an effective system of financial controls that ensure the safeguarding of charity assets and the reliability of the financial statements;
- Lead the preparation and production of the annual report and accounts;
- Oversight for all accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and ledgers;

Salary: £18,000 per annum for 3 days a week (Pro-rata of £30k)
*Overtime is compensated either by pay or time off in lieu
Holiday: Pro-rata of 30 days a year excluding bank holidays plus holiday office closure (before New Year’s holidays) and 1 day of annual mental health leave
Contract: 18 months temporary contract, 6 months probationary period
Start date: 1st July 2024 (Notice period will be considered with those who have notice periods) The first round of interviews will be scheduled for the week of 5th June 2024.

Organise, run and develop The Vavengers award-winning support & wellness hubs for women and girls

Manage referral process connecting women and girls with other organisations and local authorities

Develop bids and secure grants to cover core and project costs

Manage the nationwide expansion of the support hub model

Build and maintain partnerships with aligned stakeholders

Lead and improve community projects through concept development, fundraising and relationship management

Support the C-suite with business development in line with the business plan

Day-to-day tasks

Organise, run and report on support & wellness hubs for women and girls, and be the face of the support hub programme

Support the community through referrals to local authorities and partner organisations on housing, immigration, food security and access to other essential services. Following up and communicating with beneficiaries throughout the process

Identify and eliminate safeguarding risks

Identify need gaps within communities and fulfil crisis and emergency management plans, help prepare the organisation for unexpected urgent response work

Amplify the voice of the communities we support

Identify and highlight the ongoing issues faced by the women and girls we support with the team and external stakeholders

Organise and manage programme facilitators and role-related volunteers

Map out fundraising opportunities and secure funding through written grant applications and manage funding processes from start to end including mid and end-journey reports

Develop and maintain the existing community ambassadorship programme by listening to community needs and helping to implement solutions

Maintain strong relationships. Including with Community Ambassadors, Wellness Ambassadors, programme facilitators, existing or potential partners and funders, and be a reliable point of contact for seamless communication

Expand community engagement through offsite outreach and partnerships with local councils, grassroots organisations, healthcare professionals, community leaders and sector partners (*The Vavengers works with over 150 partnerships across the UK)

Work collaboratively to ensure that new programs align with the charity’s mission, vision and purpose

Be an active advocate for The Vavengers mission and community

Managing DBS clearances and background checks for the required board, staff and volunteers and acting as one of the safeguarding officers of the organisation

Job Title: Partnership Development Manager
Salary: £34,500.
Contract Type: Contract for 18 months; there is a strong possibility that currently anticipated growth in the team may see this role become permanent during the contract term. Full time (35 hours per week) although flexible hours may be considered; the role may require occasional evening and weekend work
Working location: Home based. The post holder should expect to come into the office a minimum of two days per month, with the possibility of up to five days per month being routinely required.

BACKGROUND
The latest research suggesting that the number of children and young people at risk of hunger has rocketed to three million means that one in five children don't have enough to eat.
When a child is too hungry to learn, when they’re aching for something to eat, they can’t concentrate. They can’t absorb information. Big feelings and worries can be impossible to control. They fall behind in their studies.
Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma.
Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact in order to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK. To do this, we need to continue to grow our fundraised income, of which new corporate income is a significant element.
JOB INFORMATION
We are seeking candidates who are after the next step in their fundraising journey. You will already have strong credentials and be ready to start your journey into Partnership Management which will include leading in delivering the new business plan and working closely with colleagues in the Partnership Development team and across the organisation to identify, create and secure new strategic, multi-year corporate partnerships
You’ll be ambitious to take the next step and we are on hand to support and offer you training and a positive working environment to allow you to gain confidence and knowledge in the role at a steady pace.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Building a pipeline that reflects Magic Breakfast’s restricted and unrestricted funding needs, including Gift in Kind requirements, working with the Partnership Research Executive to research and identify prospects with potential.
- Making use of multiple tactics to secure meetings with prospects including, for example, cold calling, emailing, running events, event networking and social selling on platforms like LinkedIn.
- Ensuring that risk-screening and due diligence processes have been completed in line with Magic Breakfast’s Ethical Fundraising and Due Diligence policies.
- Understanding each prospect’s strategic interests through meetings, discussions and research and defining the mutual advantage in partnership.
- Developing and delivering engaging, relevant and impactful pitches and written proposals to prospective partners.

New Horizon Youth Centre runs a busy day centre from Monday to Friday, providing basic needs to young people experiencing homelessness and a one-stop-shop for housing advice, youth work activities, counselling, jobs, education and training support. The Services Manager (Day Centre) is a brand new role for the organisation. They will work as part of the existing Youth Work Team to provide vital additional capacity and expertise to respond to the significantly increased demand we have been experiencing. This role is primarily focused on delivering our frontline day centre service each week. You will spend around 2-3 days per week frontline as our Duty Manager ensuring the smooth running of the day centre. You’ll also be responsible for coordinating our weekly rota, line managing the team, overseeing our Locums, Students and Volunteers programme, supporting with donations and day centre stock, and delivering staff training . You should be passionate about supporting young people who are unsafe or facing homelessness, be able to motivate a multi-disciplinary team of staff and have the energy to problem solve in a fast-paced environment on a daily basis.
Salary: £37,024 - £41,600
