We support families across a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts, making our reach truly regional and inclusive.
Every year, we must raise £6.7 million to keep our doors open, and only 17% comes from government sources. The rest is powered by the generosity and commitment of supporters like you. Your leadership in corporate fundraising will help secure vital resources, build strategic partnerships, and create a sustainable future for our hospice.
The role:
Bringing our marketing and communications strategy to life by delivering clear, coordinated and impactful activity across the charity. In this role, you’ll provide day‑to‑day leadership, oversight and quality assurance for the Marketing team, ensuring that all outputs—from campaigns and digital content to printed materials, supporter journeys and internal communications—are well‑planned, on schedule, high‑quality and fully aligned with our vision, values and brand.
What You Will Do:
As Marketing & Communications Lead, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our strategy, offering fresh ideas and insight, and working closely with the Marketing & Engagement Manager to ensure our plans remain relevant, effective and forward‑thinking.
Strategic Contribution
· Translate organisational and departmental objectives into clear marketing and communications plans and delivery frameworks.
· Contribute ideas, insight, and evidence to the ongoing development of the marketing and communications strategy, working closely with the Marketing & Engagement Manager to ensure plans remain relevant, effective, and audience‑led.
· Provide expert insight on digital innovation, audience development, supporter engagement trends, and emerging opportunities
Delivery of Strategy
· Lead the co-ordination and delivery of the marketing and communications plan, ensuring activity is well‑planned, joined‑up, on time, and aligned with organisational priorities, brand, and values.
· Take day‑to‑day ownership of marketing delivery across all channels, including digital, print, campaigns, supporter journeys, and internal communications.
· Set clear briefs, timelines, and expectations for the Marketing team and external suppliers, while providing quality assurance and approval for key content, creative work, and campaign materials.
Team Leadership & Development
· Line manage a team of two marketers, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to foster a positive, collaborative, and high‑performing team culture.
· Develop and maintain effective tools, processes, and ways of working to support planning, workflow, capacity management, and project prioritisation.
· Support professional development, encourage continuous improvement, and oversee day‑to‑day budget management within the marketing function.
Digital Marketing
· Lead the organisation’s digital marketing approach, delivering innovative, data‑led campaigns across social media, web, email, SEO, and other digital channels.
· Drive audience insight, segmentation, and persona development, using data and analytics to guide decisions, optimise supporter journeys, and improve targeting.
· Use analytics and performance data to evaluate activity, identify opportunities for growth, and advise the Marketing & Engagement Manager on future developments and emerging platforms.
Campaign & Project Leadership
· Lead and cross‑departmental marketing and communications projects, working collaboratively with teams across the hospice.
· Hold joint ownership, alongside the Supporter Engagement Manager, for the delivery and ongoing development of supporter journeys, including Dotdigital integrations, with marketing leading on planning, content, insight, and quality assurance.
· Build and maintain strong working relationships with freelancers, agencies, photographers, and suppliers to ensure high‑quality creative output and timely delivery.
Internal & External Collaboration
· Work with teams across the hospice and act as a marketing representative in meetings to ensure consistent messaging, strategic alignment, and effective planning.
· Plan and co-ordinate internal communications activity, supporting staff engagement, clarity, and understanding across the organisation.
Compliance, Quality & Governance
· Ensure all marketing activity meets GDPR, brand standards, regulatory requirements, and accessibility guidelines.
· Maintain high standards of accuracy, tone of voice, and ethical storytelling across all outputs

Job description
We are looking for an exceptional individual who can work with and motivate volunteers, take a strategic view on issues affecting the Hertfordshire countryside and represent CPRE Hertfordshire at events and through media. The role also involves management of a small staff team, the oversight of our Governance including finances, reporting, budget, fundraising, communications and volunteer management.
This is an exciting time to join CPRE Hertfordshire, as the candidate will be able to build and influence the new long-term strategy and annual plan with our Board of Trustees in advance of 2027.
The Chief Executive is responsible for:
1. Contributing to and driving the implementation of CPRE Hertfordshire’s strategy.
2. Delivering effective and efficient operational performance of the charity including robust contingency arrangements.
3. Providing exceptional leadership and management of the team – both paid staff and volunteers – and further growing our volunteer cadre.
4. Delivering the marketing and communications strategy, including membership acquisition and retention communications, email and social media marketing.
5. Leading and managing local Branch campaigns and projects as agreed by the Board of Trustees.
6. Devising and overseeing activities to increase recruitment of new CPRE members.
7. Devising fundraising activities in line with agreed targets in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.
8. Overseeing our planning activities, including interaction with those in national and local government roles and community groups, and ensuring the charity keeps up to date with current national and local planning policy.
9. Attending regular meetings with national CPRE and other county branches to share knowledge, formulate “one CPRE” policy positions, and participate in national campaigns.
10. Ensure that the annual operating budget is met and continually look for cost savings across all lines of expenditure.
11. Ensuring that all risk factors faced by the charity in undertaking its activities are clearly understood and mitigated as appropriate.
12. Ensuring the charity keeps up to date with appropriate external best practices and maintains compliance with relevant charity commission and other regulations such as HSE and GDPR.
Essential
1. Successful track record of organisational leadership from a not-for-profit sector role.
2. Demonstrable evidence of exceptional people and team leadership and management skills.
3. Good communication skills and knowledge of social media and websites to support delivery of a marketing strategy.
4. Experience presenting to large groups, taking part in media interviews and writing formal reports.
5. Experience of operational delivery, a completer-finisher.
6. Good financial management and budgeting skills.
7. Full UK driving license with access to own transportation (for occasional meetings and events around the county).

Introduction
the3million is the largest grassroots organisation for EU citizens* in the UK, formed after the 2016 referendum to protect the rights of people who have made the UK their home.
Our work ranges from organising EU citizens’ communities and informing people about their rights, to holding the Government to account on the implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement and advocating for social justice.
We are looking for an experienced, values-driven and thoughtful Communications Manager to help shape and strengthen the3million’s public voice. The role focuses on sharing our work as widely and effectively as possible, through social media, supporter communications and news media. You will act as a spokesperson for the3million, write and develop communications materials, and help grow our supporters and donors base through lived-experience focused communications.

Key responsibilities
1. Communications strategy & leadership
- Lead the development, delivery and evaluation of the communications strategy of the3million, working closely with the3million’s CEO, Head of Policy and Advocacy and Organising team to deliver timely strategic communications support

Your role.
As the Communications Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the charity’s communications strategy to raise awareness, increase engagement, and grow support for our vital work. We are looking for a skilled and thoughtful Marketing & Communications Officer to help us strengthen how we communicate our work, reach underserved communities, and influence the systems that shape people’s lives.
This is a role for someone who combines creativity with purpose. You will help ensure our communications are clear, accessible and rooted in the realities of the communities we serve.
About the role
Working closely with the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director, you will lead the coordination of our internal and external communications. You will shape and deliver a strategic communications approach that reflects our values, strengthens our voice, and supports our impact.
Your work will include:
- Acting as a brand guardian, supporting consistent tone of voice and visual identity
- Managing and developing our website and digital platforms, improving accessibility and user experience
- Creating engaging and accessible content for social media, reports and publications
- Producing Annual Reports, Impact Reports and other key outputs
- Designing clear, inclusive information and publicity materials
- Supporting media engagement, including drafting press releases and articles
- Contributing to events, partnerships and fundraising activity
You will also contribute to organisational learning by helping us communicate insight, evidence and impact in ways that are meaningful to communities, partners and funders.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in a communications, marketing or digital role
- Writes clearly and effectively for a range of audiences
- Can translate complex information into accessible, engaging content
- Is confident managing digital platforms and content systems
- Understands the importance of inclusive, community-centred communication
- Brings strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
- Shares our commitment to equity, dignity and social justice
Experience in the advice, charity or public sector is helpful but not essential.

We offer:
- Salary: £31,357 pro rata (Actual £12,614.80)
- 14 hours per week (flexible, with some preference for Wednesdays)
- 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)
- Additional 3 days leave between Christmas and New Year
