Role Description
We are recruiting a temporary Communications Officer to cover a period of 9 months of maternity leave. This position will implement the charity’s communications strategy and support the Fundraising Manager. The post will work closely with senior staff to manage internal and external communications and marketing campaigns to raise the profile of the charity, engage new audiences and existing stakeholders, and generate income.
We are seeking a highly articulate and proactive individual with a flair for communications and 3 years’ experience in a similar communications role. The candidate will have excellent writing skills, be a confident communicator and an organised self-starter. You will have demonstrable experience of managing a diverse workload and being able to prioritise tasks and work under pressure. Graphic design skills would be desirable but not essential.

We are seeking a Campaign Assistant to provide effective day-to-day support to the campaigning activities of the organisation, including through working with campaign volunteers, supporting internal and external campaign communications and ensuring smooth running of systems and processes.
Campaign Assistant Responsibilities:
To date the campaign has been entirely run by volunteers, but as it has grown and developed there is an increasing need for staff support to ensure that we are as effective as possible and have the best possible chance of achieving our campaign objectives. The Campaign Assistant will support the full breadth of the group’s activities and ensure the smooth running of the campaign. This will include organising campaign actions, taking day-to-day responsibility for the effective running of our systems and processes as well as supporting with handling our social media channels, press and other enquiries. About you

You will be able to dealing with new and existing supporters by telephone and in written communications, and liaise and build relationships with a broad range of people in a friendly, outgoing and positive manner. About the role

About you
These are the essential skills, knowledge and expertise for the CEFO role:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of church audiences.
- Proven ability to inspire others to take action and use their skills and resources.
- Ability to fundraise and motivate others to fundraise and donate.
- Experience of working alongside volunteers to add capacity and skills; aptitude to empower and support them.
- The ability to communicate complex messages creatively and effectively to diverse audiences through a range of different media, including face to face and in writing.
- A passion for justice with an understanding of campaigning and how this can bring lasting change.
- Ability to effectively portray development messages in a theological context.
- Knowledge of the principles of good donor management or customer care and understanding of the principles of relationship building.
- An ability to analyse and interpret information and data in order to prioritise work to achieve results.
- A knowledge of current fundraising legislation and good practice, and the ability to put this into practice with all related activity.
- The ability to work unsupervised, under pressure and manage competing priorities to deliver multiple concurrent activities, delegating where necessary, within agreed deadlines and to agreed standards.
- The ability to travel frequently to locations throughout the region, including some evenings and weekends.
- We consider it essential that the post holder can drive (and has a clean driving licence), or can demonstrate that the role can be fulfilled in their region without this. Public transport is preferred wherever possible.

We are looking for a skilled researcher and communicator, with experience of designing and delivering effective public engagement and service evaluation projects, and the ability to interpret data and present findings with clarity and impact.
Location: Homebased or Melksham office
Hours: 69 hours per month or 16 hours per week
Salary: £25,000pa pro rata
The post holder will support the Evolving Communities local Healthwatch teams with the design, analysis and reporting of their public engagement, research, and service evaluation functions. This incorporates quality assuring project proposals and reports, assisting teams in the development of impactful surveys, supporting simple data analysis and report writing, and staff training and guidance (for example, how to facilitate focus groups, conduct data analysis and carry out one-to-one interviews with participants.
It is anticipated that, as the business develops, the post holder will use their public engagement and service evaluation experience and skills to design, deliver and report on bespoke projects. This will include all aspects from initial project design, including literature reviews and horizon scanning, designing methodology and surveys; project delivery, including interviews and focus groups; and project reporting, including the analysis of data (qualitative and quantitative) and writing reports.

We are a mission organisation who are working to transform the whole of India through the love of Christ, but we do that in a unique way. We don’t actually send missionaries, instead we train and resource local Indian Christians to reach out to their own people and share the love of Jesus, and we have been successfully doing that for 40 years. We have a small team here in the UK but we also work closely with our sister organisation in the USA. We have ambitious targets for the next 4 years and you will be at the heart of helping us achieve them.
About You
This is a new role and you will be someone who is ambitious and can hit the ground running, with minimal support, proactively developing our Mid-Level donor income streams. You will have successfully worked in fundraising previously, most likely supporting Mid-Level donors, and have a track record of converting donors into committed supporters. You will have copy writing experience and know how to use story to engage donors and encourage them to give. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills but you are also analytical and are able to track the success of what you are doing.
Role Outline
We want you to support our Mid-Level Donors and ensure that they are made to feel welcome and help show that their giving really does make a difference. You will oversee the welcome journey for all new donors and manage all communications with our existing donors. You will also develop and deliver fundraising activities which engage donors, deepening their relationship with us so we can build Mission India’s profile and increase income generation.
This role is based at home but may require travel to our office in Milton Keynes max 1 day a week
