Senior Education Officer

Are you passionate about environmental issues, in particular nature restoration, climate resilience and biodiversity?

About the Role

We are looking to hire a skilled and engaging Senior Education Officer to join a busy team, to further develop and implement an educational outreach programme which reaches children in Wales, Scotland and England. At present, this post has funding for three years from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, one year of which is now complete and we are looking to deliver the second two years of the project.

The purpose of the role is to extend the passion and knowledge of beavers into communities around Britain, to engage and enthuse young people and to reconnect (or reinforce) their love of nature. Using current materials and resources you will do so by delivering high-quality learning sessions within schools, community groups or virtual training sessions, sometimes delivered in conjunction with our beaver site partners and their education teams.

You will also be responsible for developing further aspects of the programme according to the requirements for each country and in partnership with relevant organisations

Key responsibilities include:

• Deliver a range of exciting, curriculum-linked workshops, talks, school and group sessions associated with beaver release sites.
• Network and build contacts and relationships with key personnel in schools, youth groups and community groups in order to create engagement with the education programme and expand its reach.
• Develop further resources and engaging activities or projects for group learning.
• Deliver standard level beaver ecology training to a range of age groups.
• Ensure the education programmes are up-to-date, accurate and complement the wider delivery of our mission.
• Monitor, collate and report on impact, working with the communications team to support the effective evaluation of our programme.
• Support volunteers and build capacity working with partner staff in the delivery of beaver education programmes.
• Work with the team to allocate resources ensuring education initiatives are well planned, deliver maximum value for money and remain within budget.

Overview of the role

As the Fundraising Officer, you will play a key role in delivering a range of fundraising appeals and our individual and regular giving programmes. This position also provides plenty of variety and the opportunity to support and develop skills across several income streams. The Fundraising Officer will work collaboratively with the Fundraising and Communications teams and closely with the Senior Fundraising Managers.

 What you will do as part of our team

Fundraising activities

Individual Giving

· Manage the regular giving programme by implementing a rolling 12-month plan of meaningful touchpoints to deepen relationships

· Develop and implement a plan to encourage increased giving and recruit new regular donors with personalised cultivation and stewardship

· Maximise engagement and retention of individual supporters (giving at a lower to mid level) by prompt thanking, excellent stewardship and building effective donor journeys

Fundraising Appeals

· Manage Glass Door’s direct marketing appeals including our flagship annual Christmas appeal – taking the lead on the direct mail and email campaign

· Lead on content development, and implementation of donor segmentation based on giving history, preferences, and engagement levels

· Work closely with the Communications Team to deliver a robust communication plan – actively taking part in the case studies, content creation and digital campaign plans (social media and website)

· Create and implement a follow-up communication plan to thank donors and provide updates on the impact of their contributions

· Undertake evaluations of each appeal’s performance metrics and donor responses to refine future appeals

Fundraising support

· Monitor the Fundraising inbox and respond promptly to ad-hoc queries from individual donors or prospects

· Support the Senior Fundraising Managers with research into current and prospective donors, and compile information to support funding applications and reports

· Thank and steward in-memoriam gifts

· Support the wider team at events e.g. Sleep Out, Christmas Carols and other supporter events

You’ll be someone who enjoys writing and communicating clearly, whether that’s through social media posts, stakeholder newsletters or event invitations. You’ll be confident using digital tools and keen to learn how to manage and improve our new CRM system and website content.

You’ll be a highly organised multitasker who’s excited to contribute across a wide variety of projects – from events and fundraising campaigns to charity research and donor stewardship. You’ll thrive in a small team, taking initiative and juggling priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

You’ll care deeply about climate and nature and be motivated to make a meaningful difference in this decisive decade for our planet. There will be opportunities to develop skills across all aspects of GRP’s work, with support from a collaborative and experienced team.

Main duties and responsibilities

Communications (30% of work)

• Write and publish short regular newsletters for GRP’s stakeholders, including portfolio donors, wealth adviser partners and donors to operating costs.
• Manage and publish weekly content for GRP’s social media accounts, including LinkedIn and Instagram.
• Manage and curate content for GRP website, ensuring information is accurate, up-to-date and maximising opportunities to attract new donors and supporters.
• Coordinate with GRP’s third-party web developer on website maintenance and regularly re-evaluate site structure/functions to maximise its efficacy and usability.

Event planning (30% of work)

• Lead coordinator for in-person and virtual events, in line with events strategy devised by Strategic Relationships Manager.
• Lead event promotion and liaise with venues, speakers, catering, attendees, videographer, graphic designer, etc to ensure events are well-attended and well-run.

Research (20% of work)

• Drive ad-hoc research projects to support GRP’s partnership-building, core fundraising and portfolio selection/assessment efforts.
• Analyse potential sectors and charities for inclusion in GRP’s charity portfolio.
• Identify and research high-quality trust and foundation leads in line with core fundraising strategy.
• Identify and research high-quality leads for wealth adviser or other corporate partnerships.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) (20% of work)

• Manage GRP’s new CRM system (Beacon) on behalf of team, ensuring the team uses the CRM system consistently, accurately, and effectively. No prior experience with CRMs required – training will be provided.

This role is available on a fixed term 12-month contract (maternity cover), where you would work on a part-time basis (21 hours a week) and remote working arrangement. The salary on offer for this role is £42,750 FTE which would be pro-rated to £25,650.
 
Within this role you will play a key role providing generalist HR support across the organisation. You will coordinate and support with recruitment campaigns, onboarding processes, employee relations, performance management processes, learning and development activities, maintaining and developing HR policies and manage payroll. You will be the first point of contact for HR related queries and manage HR administration and systems.
 
To be successful in this role, you will be educated to UK Degree level (international Level 6) or equivalent qualification ideally in HR Management/professional HR qualification (CIPD level 5 or above). You will have demonstrable experience working in generalist/operational HR at a similar level within the UK, with knowledge of international employment mechanisms.
 
You will have experience of developing and implementing HR policy based on best practice and current legislation (UK and international). You will have experience of supporting multi-disciplinary teams in a remote working and multicultural environment. You will be an effective communicator role, with experience maintaining relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders. You will also have the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
 
Desirably, you will have experience working within a network organisation and understanding of charity sector/international development and/or international membership organisations.

We're looking for an experienced Programme Management Office (PMO) Lead to bring greater rigour and consistency to our portfolio of projects and programmes. This role will play a pivotal role in driving implementation of The Association's new strategy and shaping and driving change across all functions. This is a key role working with senior managers and project teams to develop and implement new organisation-wide project and programme management processes, tools and methods

As PMO Lead, you'll work closely with the Head of Strategy & Programme Management to embed consistent and effective practices across a central portfolio of projects and programmes. You will bring technical expertise, practical project and programme management experience and a collaborative approach to working across teams and levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of consistent project and programme management tools and methods across the organisation
• Support, upskill and coach Sponsors, Business Change Managers and Project Managers to fulfil their roles effectively
• Collaborate with project leads to ensure clear project scopes, risk management and reporting processes
• Support and challenge Project Managers, Sponsors & Business Owners across the Association to ensure the benefits of projects/programmes are defined, measured and learning points shared.
• Establish and manage a central log of projects, ensuring accurate and consistent reporting
• Ensure project benefits are identified, measured and reviewed, and that learning is captured
• Shape a centrally managed change portfolio to help deliver the organisation's strategy
• Develop and maintain reporting processes across all organisational projects
• Create and run a cross-organisational community/forum for project professionals to build skills and share learning
• Partner with the Learning & Development team to build capability in project and programme delivery
• Support the identification of project interdependencies and escalate issues for resolution

About You:

• In-depth understanding of the core elements of a successful PMO
• Recognised qualification in project or programme management, ideally with a PMO-specific certification
• Demonstrable experience of setting up and running a PMO in a similar organisational context
• Experience managing projects or programmes, with sound knowledge of relevant methodologies
• Skilled in supporting others to use consistent project and programme approaches
• Proficient in project management software such as MS Project
• Confident working across teams and functions to embed tools and approaches
• Able to clearly communicate, influence and support decision making at senior levels
