About the role
The Fundraising Strategy & Operations Team deliver the Fundraising strategy and provide high quality operations to support the Fundraising Directorate. The team has a variety of different functions including Supporter Care, Strategic Liaison with Service teams, Compliance, Supporter Journeys and Communications as well as general administration. This role will be managing the Supporter Care team of three people.
About you
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in a busy supporter care environment, working to tight deadlines
- Experience of writing donor correspondence and creating data capture guidance
- Proven experience of supporter care campaign management including creating clear processes and flow charts and managing, negotiating and liaising with suppliers.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage a variety of projects and activities to tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to develop strong working relationships with external suppliers and internal departments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and produce written documents to a high standard
What you’ll be doing

- Overseeing the Supporter Care team, leading and managing the vision of the team and ensuring that outstanding levels of service are provided to our supporters.

We are seeking an experienced charity manager to coordinate and manage the activity of the BVA Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF), which places animal welfare at the forefront of veterinary knowledge via research, education and debate.
You will have a strong track record of working with a Board of Trustees and associated committees on the successful implementation of a charity strategy, alongside an ability to lead on the implementation of a focused fundraising strategy.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise, and work to strict deadlines. Alongside experience of a variety of fundraising activities, event planning, and knowledge of charity governance, this new role represents an exciting opportunity to optimise the unique partnership with BVA and build strategic relationships with key stakeholders to raise the profile of AWF.
Currently there are no direct line management responsibilities but as the charity develops it is likely that line management responsibilities will become part of this role. About the role:
As an IDVA you will:-
- Ensure that male survivors' safety and housing needs are met by supporting survivors to access safe accommodation
- Provide a pro-active, high quality, frontline service to victims of domestic abuse through on-going risk assessment, individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
- Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse
- Promote the service and raising awareness of issues arising, minimising barriers and improving access to support
You will need:
- Experience of providing support those affected by domestic abuse
- An understanding of the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
- Knowledge of safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
- A good understanding of Housing Law to be able to provide up to date advice and information on housing related needs
- Strong communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.

Summary
This is a new role leading the strategic use of marketing and communications to advance Challenge Works’ social impact mission and commercial objectives.
You will serve as the organisation’s senior lead on marketing and communications, acting as a trusted partner to leaders across the business, and reporting into a member of our Senior Leadership Team.
There are two key strands to the role.
- Driving marketing and communications for Challenge Works with a focus on brand and business development. You will work closely with our priority area leads and Communications Manager to plan and deliver integrated campaigns, digital content, events, stakeholder engagement and PR to accelerate their growth priorities. You will also develop and deliver communications strategies to strengthen the Challenge Works brand through impactful thought leadership, and orchestrate the rollout of campaigns that position us as a leader in transformative innovation.
- Overseeing the delivery of effective development and delivery of prize communications, working with our small in-house communications team and a retained PR agency, as well as any other ad hoc contractors. It also includes acting as an adviser and, where needed, an extra pair of hands on prize communications activity.
Success in this role requires the ability to think strategically while moving swiftly to action. We are a small team and everyone needs to dive in and be hands-on.
We are entirely funded through our work on prizes, so our communications and marketing activity needs to show business results as well as supporting our impact goals. Our target audiences are a niche group: innovation teams within governments, research and innovation funders, philanthropic foundations, and other innovation partners and experts, both in the UK and worldwide. Success means building our brand in the long term to generate awareness and trust with those target communities while also delivering opportunity-led communications that drive conversion for specific propositions. With limited resource, all our channels need to work together effectively to maximise impact.
You will draw on strong relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively across Challenge Works, Nesta and external partners, while bringing the authority and insight needed to influence senior leaders and ensure our communications consistently reflect our ambition and expertise.
The role
- Develop and deliver integrated marketing campaigns aimed at reaching and engaging current and future funders, with a particular focus on owned digital channels and in person stakeholder events.
- Build the Challenge Works brand across all relevant channels so that it becomes synonymous with transformative innovation in the minds of funders in the UK and around the world.
- Thought leadership. Collaborate with internal and affiliated external thought leaders to nurture a pipeline of authentic, high-impact content that builds the Challenge Works brand and generates qualified leads for prize funders and partners.
- Stakeholder strategy. Collaborate with colleagues leading our BD efforts to develop our stakeholder engagement strategy and guide our approach to stakeholder management across Challenge Works.
- Overseeing retained PR agency to ensure effectiveness and value for money in prize communications and, to generate complementary PR ‘moments’ that contribute to funder engagement and awareness.

Provide advice, expert input, and training across the wider team around communications topics to enable the whole team to embed best practice communications principles in their work.

The person
- A strong track record of developing, delivering and leading the delivery of strategic multichannel marketing strategies and plans, using marketing as part of business development and lead generation in a B2B context
- A strong track record of developing and evolving brand identities in a B2B or social impact context, ensuring brand consistency and resonance across all touchpoints

About the role:
This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, 1 day per week from our London Singer Street office (every Tuesday). The remaining 4 days per week will be home-based, but there will still be the requirement on these days to travel to London courts to deliver pre-trial visits. Therefore, it is essential the travel distance from surrounding counties outside of London is within 30 minutes to London.
As an Independent Witness Advocate you will:
- Lead on providing pre-trial, outreach & post-trial support for witnesses; ensuring their pre and post-trial needs are assessed and a plan for support is put in place so they can attend court to give their best evidence
- Provide advocacy, support in court, and emotional/practical support around their physical, mental, social or financial wellbeing
- Liaise with criminal justice partners to ensure witnesses are kept up to date with arrangements for attendance at court and where applicable, ensure special measures have been granted
- Provide practical and emotional support in a way that is approachable, flexible and caring, showing empathy at all times
- Need to be tenacious in support of your clients and being able to solve problems and surmount the challenges posed by the criminal justice system

As the Individual Giving Officer, you will be responsible for supporting fundraising through individual donors including members and reoccuring donors. It will focus on enhancing supporter journeys, building long-term relationships through effective campaigns, stewardship and data-drive engagment.
This person will have some experience across individual giving and have worked on delivering individual giving fundraising campaigns before. Ideally this person will have digital and email marketing experience and be an excellent communicator.
This is a permanent part-time role orf 21 hours and offering a salary of £35,000 FTE per annum. This role is remote with occasional travel to London.

An international charity supporting people working at sea is seeking an Individual Giving Manager to lead a step-change in how individual fundraising is planned, delivered and grown.
Individual giving is already generating around £450k per year, with clear ambition to increase this by £100k per year over the next two years. Appeals, digital income and event-driven donations are in place, but there is no single, coordinated strategy or supporter journey. This role exists to design and deliver that strategy.

- Design and deliver a clear, ambitious individual giving strategy to grow income and improve supporter retention

About the role
We’re looking for a Policy and Public Affairs Manager with experience in delivering high-impact, voice-led policy, public affairs and campaigning work to join our Policy and Influencing team.
We have a growing and ambitious commitment to creating positive change in the health and care system to achieve the change children and young people with cancer, and their families, need across the UK. This means amplifying the voices of young cancer patients and delivering evidence-based campaigns that make change happen.
The Policy and Public Affairs Manager is responsible for ensuring our policy and influencing work has maximum impact through our public affairs and campaigning across the UK. This work will be co-created with children and young people at every appropriate opportunity. Building relationships is a crucial part of your role and you will support the Head of Policy and Influencing to deliver Young Lives vs Cancer’s policy, influencing and voice work to be sector leading and develop a range of external relationships to inform our work in this area.
Our Policy, Influencing and Voice Team build the evidence base we need to develop sound policy positions, works to influence the system for children and young people with cancer and their families, so we can change experiences of having cancer and ensure children and young people’s voices are heard. The team is a part of the Innovation, Policy and Systems Change Directorate, which synthesises our policy, research, campaigning, voice, innovation and systems change work.

What will I be doing?
No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.
- Monitoring and analysing developments and trends in policy affecting children and young people with cancer, to identify relevant policy issues across the UK at an early stage and to advise on and help shape the charity’s response and public position.
- Working with colleagues across the team to develop policy positions that are relevant, up to date and can be used to support wider campaigning and influencing activities to engage our supporters, across health, social care, benefits and welfare reform, education issues and other relevant issues.
- Planning, managing and implementing public affairs plans and engagement based on policy priorities and effectiveness, liaising with external partners and coalitions, including designing and delivering our proactive engagement with elected representatives, monitoring the public affairs environment and co-ordinating reactive and proactive activities across the UK.
- Delivering a campaigns programme which builds on are previous successes, ensuring our campaigns and public affairs programmes work alongside with and alongside children, young people and families.
- Working with the Head of Policy and Influencing to support Young Lives vs Cancer’s engagement, communications and influence with policymakers, elected representatives and other key stakeholders.
- Developing external partnerships and networks to strengthen policy and public affairs activity
What do I need?
The key skills we’re looking for in this role are:
- Ability to deliver strategic policy and public affairs activity based on robust evidence, from development to evaluation.
- Successfully influence politicians and key decision-makers to achieve strategic goals at different levels of government, through managing the delivery of successful public affairs campaigns
- Overseeing work that involves beneficiaries in policy and influencing work, demonstrate effective influencing skills
- Awareness and understanding of and/or experience of working in the policy issues facing young people with cancer across all four UK nations, and the wider policy and influencing and/or campaigning landscape
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills at a variety of levels to a wide range of audiences, in particular a political audience
- Be an organised, systematic and a confident worker - managing a fast paced and reactive workload alongside longer-term strategic work whilst demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy
