An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a new Operations Manager / Deputy Chief Executive for Stepping Stones North Wales as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary.

Stepping Stones is a charity based in North Wales that offers free individual counselling, support, psychoeducational courses and resources as well as group work to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. We also support family members, carers and friends.

We are looking for a person who is passionate about the charity sector and who, working with our CEO and with a dynamic team of Trustees, can ensure we operate effectively and can support the delivery of our strategy. The successful candidate will be comfortable with looking at ways to strengthen our processes and systems, so we have even more impact.

Stepping Stones North Wales demonstrates respect for, and embraces the use of, the Welsh Language through all our activities and services. We recognise the need to be appropriately responsive to the linguistic needs of Welsh speakers and we are fully committed to meeting the requirements of the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 (revised 2021). The ability to communicate effectively in both Welsh and English is desirable for this role although we will welcome applicants who demonstrate a commitment to learning Welsh (which we’ll fully support you in doing) and championing its use at every opportunity.

The position can either be full time (35 hours per week), with a salary of £38,296, or pro-rata 28 hours for the right candidate.

Our preference is for the successful candidate to spend three days each week working from our Wrexham office, with the balance being a home-working option. However, we can consider further flexibility and this can be discussed during the application process.

A formal sift will take place in the final week of June. Interviews for candidates who are successful at this stage will take place during week commencing Monday 8th July.

Job description:

• Responsibility for working with the CEO to develop, implement and monitor the Strategic Plan, the yearly Business Plan and associated processes/documents (policies, guidance, risk register and budgets).
• Responsibility for working with the CEO to increase our outreach through strategic communications and through stakeholder mapping/engagement, including with elected officials across North Wales.
• Responsibility for maintaining good working relationships with commissioners and other funding bodies and for supporting the CEO and trustees in promoting Stepping Stones with current and potential future funders within the statutory third and corporate sectors.
• Responsibility for working closely with colleagues and trustees to network and to maintain an appropriate level of awareness of Stepping Stones’ activities amongst the caring professions, across the charitable sector and in communities across North Wales.
• Accountability for supporting the ongoing recruitment of, and line management of, a number of nominated operational staff within the charity.
• Responsibility for ensuring the financial probity of the charity. Working with the CEO and Finance & Business Support Manager.
• Responsibility for maintaining good working relationships with commissioners and other funding bodies and to promote Stepping Stones with current and potential future funders within the statutory, third and corporate sectors.
• Responsibility for ensuring that all appropriate training and processes are in place with regards to key government standards around Safeguarding, Health and Safety and GDPR in partnership with the Clinical Lead.
• Responsibility for working with the CEO, key staff and trustees to implement an improved and modernised service for our clients, partners and trustees through innovation.
• Responsibility for working with the CEO to draft the Annual Report, and all other statutory reports, adhering to strict deadlines.
• Responsibility for ensuring that the charity has an efficient secretarial/clerical service managed by the Office Support Team.
• Responsibility for drafting relevant communications for clients or dealing with queries or complaints along with the Clinical Lead as appropriate.
• Deputising for the CEO during periods of leave or as required/agreed with the CEO.

Refuge Manager 

Salary: £40,221, 5 days a week

The Refuge Manager post is instrumental in the delivery of care, a safe environment and a comprehensive package ofservices that meet the needs of the MENA women at risk of VAWG in our refuges. The post holder will be responsible formanaging IKWRO’s refuges and providing advice, advocacy, and casework support. The post-holder is required to demonstrate sensitivity and an awareness of the culture and needs of IKWRO’s service users in all aspects of their duties and responsibilities.

We’re recruiting a part time Marketing and Communications Manager to support the development, implementation and management of innovative marketing campaigns to drive awareness, interest, and income across all areas of our work.

Marketing management

• Supporting our Head of Marketing to develop cross-organisation marketing plans to help us achieve our member retention objectives and reach new audiences.
• Leading projects with our Members Services Team, Education and Training, and External Affairs teams to understand the market and customer need for our products and services.

Marketing activities

• Lead on the delivery of effective marketing plans for a range of audiences and outputs, including but not limited to our online and in-person events, qualifications, training and assessments, and clinical guidance, guidelines and standards.
• Write engaging copy for both online and offline marketing collateral – including news stories, blogs, email communications, print and digital adverts, and social media.
• Segment and tailor marketing communications for a range of audiences by professional role, membership type, and level of involvement with us.
• Manage regular email communications with our registered users (those who express an interest in us) and candidates (those currently learning with us) to support their journey towards becoming a member.
• Develop and manage the marketing activities for our core member publication The British Medical Journal in Sexual and Reproductive Health (BMJ SRH)
• Proactively manage a content calendar to help keep track of our range of communications.
• Collaborate with our Digital Marketing Officer to repurpose content from our website and campaign publications for use on social media.
• Ensure all communications practices are GDPR compliant.

Marketing intelligence

• Support the Head of Marketing with desk-based research / activities to help us better understand and engage with newer audiences (e.g., physician associates, pharmacists).
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, using a range of tools (e.g., Google Analytics, CRM reports, Google Data Studio), working closely with our Digital Content Manager and Data Manager.
• Proactively look at ways to improve the overall effectiveness of marketing campaigns, using data and insights to inform this.
• Track and monitor email campaign effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements, most notably during our annual member renewals campaign.

Brand management

• Champion our FSRH values, brand guidelines and style guide, supporting the Head of Marketing to keep our templates and materials up-to-date and implemented correctly.
• Support the development of event specific content for in-person and online events, and occasionally assist as an FSRH representative.
• Produce slides for our CEO / Officers where needed to help share information about FSRH’s work.

You will have experience:

• Developing and delivering successful and multichannel marketing and communications plans
• using email marketing tools and segmenting communications to suit specific audiences
• working across social media platforms and creating tailored content
• using data to understand audiences, measure the success of campaigns and improve effectiveness
• an understanding of GDPR and how it is applied in practice

The Role

The PR Manager plays a central role, working closely with the Head of Media to manage the public relations function of the charity. You will be responsible for helping to develop and execute prominent and high impact national and regional media campaigns, to help people better understand the mission and take action to support it.

Your main duties and responsibilities include:

· Generate regular, positive, proactive media coverage

· Proactively sell stories into the media as well as react to incoming enquiries

· Work with the Head of Media to develop impactful press strategies in line with the wider PR strategy

· Take a proactive approach to gathering NHS staff, member and supporter case studies

About the opportunity

Fundraising is critical to delivering our mission and ensuring we can support as many children and young people facing disadvantage to open doors to their future.  The Philanthropy Team as a whole has a combined target income for the current year (2023-24) of £1.83 million (growing to £2.35m as our target for next year), of which approximately £850k is from corporate donors and their foundations, £100k is from individuals, and the remaining from trusts and foundations. We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to work within our passionate Philanthropy Team to help grow our fundraised income and develop and maintain an effective, high-quality funding pipeline. Focussing predominantly on eliciting funding from trusts and foundations, and working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, CEO and Corporate Partnerships Manager, the Fundraising Manager will ensure the effective management of existing funder relations and take responsibility for ensuring Action Tutoring meets its reporting obligations. Duties and responsibilities

Person specification

This role requires an ambitious, passionate and determined individual with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Alongside your team you will be responsible for writing and submitting grant applications and reports, so an excellent understanding of the English language and a keen eye for detail are crucial for success within this position. Working to deadlines and line-managing three Fundraising Coordinators, exceptional time-management, prioritisation and organisation skills are essential. With a focus on developing our individual giving strategies, we’re looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal skills. 
 

Qualifications criteria:

Key Details

About the position 

This is an exciting opportunity to create change at scale, informing and promoting a practical transition to plant-based diets, in order to reduce the number of animals suffering in factory farms. Part of our Farmed Animal Campaigns team, the role will work to increase the quality and availability of plant-based options with major caterers and universities in the UK, impacting hundreds of thousands of meals daily. 

This role also includes an opportunity to support the delivery of a campaign to end the use of farrowing crates, one of the worst forms of cruelty to farmed animals in the UK today. In this role you will support the Senior Manager for Farmed Animal Campaigns to create public-facing campaign assets, and develop compelling research to underpin our policy and industry engagement.

If you are results-oriented, persuasive, organised and, ideally, have knowledge of food and/or farming systems, along with a commitment to animal welfare, then we would like to hear from you. 

Key areas of responsibility:  

• Initiate and maintain relationships with universities, food service companies and public sector institutions to support and oversee their delivery of goals to reduce meat/animal products  

• Work with consultants to develop and deliver our Forward Food culinary training programme to food service professionals, to support their understanding of plant-based food and marketing, and their role in the just protein transition.  

• Identify and support opportunities to encourage people to eat fewer animal products, including working with media and celebrity ambassadors. 

• Conduct environmental impact assessments on menus and food procurement to effectively monitor and report on progress towards meat-reduction goals 

• Deliver compelling and informed advocacy to UK political stakeholders to encourage the adoption of policies that catalyse a just protein transition and better farmed animal welfare. 

• Support development and delivery of HSI UK’s farmed animal campaigns strategies  

• Research and present on industry-related trends and developments in the plant-based food market and alternatives to cage confinement.  

About you 

Our successful candidate will be confident, articulate and creative with a proven track record of supporting the delivery of effective campaigns through research and advocacy. You’ll be a proactive self-starter, and someone who brings positive energy to work within teams. You’ll have a keen eye for detail and accuracy, as well as experience and ability to produce compelling and effective advocacy materials, including analysing scientific data and translating it into meaningful language for stakeholders. You’ll have experience of building strategic relationships in the private or public sector to deliver agreed goals. What the job involves 

This is an exciting opportunity to join our vibrant Brand and Media (Attention) team within our wider Communications directorate. As the Media and Communications Manager, you’ll be the team’s lead on Health Services, Equity and Improvement (including policy and campaigns) and Research communications, delivering impactful media moments which inspire action and drive positive change for men with, or at risk of, prostate cancer.

The role

The communications manager will play a central role in enhancing B Lab UK’s credibility by leveraging our corporate milestones, data, insights, partnerships and public affairs work to reach priority audiences. You will work closely with our campaigns team to influence policymakers and develop thought-leadership to make a compelling case for an alternative to business as usual. You will be responsible for overseeing and optimising B Lab UK’s press office function, including monitoring and responding to reputational risk across the B Corp movement. 

Primary responsibilities

• Drive the delivery of core components of the communication strategy, specifically owning our corporate communications, press office and acting as the first port of call for media issues management

• Developing and owning media strategies to increase the organisation’s influence, build understanding of evolving standards and support our policy and public affairs ambitions. 

• Lead B Lab UK’s thought leadership agenda to raise the leadership team and organisation’s profile and establish us as a leader in economic systems change

• Establish and leverage relationships with key journalists, aligned organisations and B Lab UK partners

• Line-manage members of the communications team, including the communications coordinator and leading the communications internship programme

• Procure and manage the day to day business of external communications providers (agency/freelance), monitoring and managing budgets, timelines and deliverables 

• Collaborate with managers across the organisation, leading on cross-organisational projects where necessary

• Collaborate with B Lab network counterparts, ensuring UK communications plans align with B Lab Global and other regions

Skills and experience

• Experience writing briefs and procuring and managing agencies

• People management experience within the communications specialism

• A strong news sense and prior experience of delivering media relations campaigns or developing news stories

Alongside the skills and ability to identify compelling messages from partnership communications to gain support, through prayer, donations and support for our advocacy work. 

Suitable candidates will be:

• Educated to degree level equivalent.

• Inspired by the witness of Christians in the Middle East and passionate about changing the lives of people living in grinding poverty, injustice, disability, trauma and displacement caused by conflict, and other challenges.
• Willing to carry out overseas travel to the region 3-4 times a year.
• Have a sympathy with Embrace’s Christian inspired values, vision and ready with compassion and commitment to serve and work to support Embrace’s Christian mission.
• Advanced or intermediate Arabic would be advantageous.
• Because of the essential Christian context of the role, it is subject to an occupational requirement under the Equality Act that the post-holder be a practising Christian.

Who we are

Chefs in Schools is a young, ambitious charity that’s rapidly growing. Our mission is to improve kids' health through improving school food & food education. We focus our efforts in areas of high socio-economic deprivation, where more than a third of children are entitled to free school meals and where food-related ill health is driving further inequality. 

We support and train school kitchen teams to become food educators and to serve the best, freshest and tastiest food possible. We share our learning and resources freely, aiming to inspire and enable others to follow our lead.

About you and the role

This role will take our charity’s mission to a wider audience at an exciting time of development and growth. For a small communications team, we punch above our weight - regularly hitting the headlines, getting featured on agenda-setting news shows, receiving pro-bono support from renowned agencies such as Bartle, Bogle & Hegarty and Indigo Eight, and with high-profile influencers such as Prue Leith, Henry Dimbleby and Thomasina Miers in our corner.

Now we need someone with great media contacts, or the know-how to forge them, who can ensure a steady stream of coverage that gets all of our campaigns in front of our key audiences. Key responsibilities:

● Work with the Head of Communications to develop and deliver content, media opportunities and campaigns that help us raise awareness of our cause and achieve our wider strategic goals.

● Identify, create and secure opportunities for coverage of our charity’s mission in target publications and platforms.

● Create and deliver communications plans, blogs, press releases, campaign briefs, submissions to parliament and more.

● Build networks and contacts within mainstream, education and food-related traditional and social media platforms to secure story and content placement.

● Deal with reactive media queries to tight deadlines, overseeing reparation of briefs and Q&As.

● Oversee content creation for our social media and online platforms, How to Guides and marketing materials, ensuring brand consistency and appropriate audience targeting.

● Ensure any data collection via our website or other platforms is compliant with GDPR and any related or superseding legislation.

Skills & experience:

● You have interest and belief in our mission to improve kids’ health through improving food and food education in schools.

● 3+ years prior experience in a similar role.

● You are organised, methodical, strong on detail, and able to map out deadlines and plan ahead.

● Ideally you’d have some experience of line management, a ‘must’ is a commitment to developing the team.

● You have proven success designing and delivering communications plans and campaigns.

● You have experience successfully pitching stories and/or collaborations to media, journalists and influencers.

● You understand how to create engaging content - both written and visual.

● You see opportunities for coverage and know how to make them happen.

● You’re up to date on media and communications trends and able to stay ahead of the curve.

● You’re capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

● You’re confident enough to deputise for the Head of Communications when required, such as deciding which reactive media queries to pursue, presenting at events and crisis management if required.

The recruitment process

In line with our commitment to ensuring a fair and unbiased recruitment process, we will invite candidates to interview based on their answers to a series of questions related to their day-to-day job.

This is a very specific 6-9m post to support the growth of Crustacean Compassion. We are a not-for-profit animal welfare organisation which campaigns for the humane treatment of decapod crustaceans such as lobsters, crabs, prawns, and langoustines, based on the scientific evidence of their sentience. Our campaign work was responsible for the ground-breaking inclusion of decapod crustaceans in the recent Animal Sentience Act of 2022, a move which has opened more opportunities to influence change.

We have received significant public and political attention which has prompted widespread media coverage, and we are the leading organisation focused on this issue. Purpose

Reporting to the CEO, the Fundraising Support Manager will support the Fundraising Manager in the fundraising efforts of Crustacean Compassion. This will be  role building on two specific areas of work already undertaken, specifically reviewing, and supporting major donors’ proposals, and developing the supporter journey and engagement process.

The applicant will need to have an active knowledge and warm contacts with potential funders, be able to prepare and create proposals immediately as well as use CRM or external screening sources to identify and communicate with potential major donors. They will have expertise across a variety of revenue streams and will have the support of our Campaigns team to develop engaging funding bids designed to create a supporter journey and long-term engagement.

This role will require a substantial amount of proactive independent working, along with close teamwork.

Responsibilities

Priority will be given to applicants with skills to work quickly and actively in the above  primary areas achieving set income targets, developing ways to maximise unrestricted income.

General Duties

• Implement the execution of the fundraising strategy to lead income streams, delivering growth in restricted and unrestricted income whilst engaging supporter journeys to active givers.
• Work effectively with our Fundraising Manager and CEO to identify, map, and develop a network of potential donors, and unlock opportunities which can help secure the future of Crustacean Compassion and aid it to deliver its mission.
• Ensure all fundraising initiatives are planned, delivered, monitored, and evaluated effectively as part of a quarterly activity plan recognising external funding cycles.
• Review the organisation’s CRM database, ensuring efficient and appropriate data capture and data analysis for the purposes of donor identification, effective stewardship, fundraising, donor communications, and supporter journey development.
• Co-ordinate effective systems for identifying, cultivating, and maintaining supporters to potential donors and relationships.
• Assist in the development, monitoring and management of Fundraising budgets and forecasts.
• Develop and update organisational Fundraising policies and procedures as necessary in line with any changes in data protection legislation and recommendations from the Fundraising Regulator

Major Donor Fundraising

• Review the current CRM to identify potential donors and work to lead and implement maximise income from major donors.
• Explore other wealth screening options to identify potential donors.
• Introduce your own warm contacts and knowledge of the animal welfare/effective altruism field to support income from individual major donors.
• Working closely with the Fundraising Manager and CEO, oversee the development of individual major donor relationships, and personally manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, as well as advising and supporting the CEO to do so.
• Monitor and support the ongoing recruitment, engagement, and development of high-profile supporter relationships.
• Develop and manage a rolling stewardship and engagement programme, including the use of online and in-person events where budget allows.
• Ensure that the organisational CRM database usage is optimised to facilitate major donor fundraising.

Individual Giving and Community Fundraising

• Review and develop the current supporter journey to lead a regular giving strategy, maximising unrestricted income and supporting donor uplift.
• Develop and implement a stewardship programme through the CRM database.
• With input from the wider team, develop and manage engaging appeals to be run alongside key campaign actions, monitoring their success, and updating activities where necessary, and evaluating performance to inform future appeal plans.
• Ensure that the organisational CRM database usage is optimised to facilitate individual giving and community fundraising.

Person specification

Essential

• At least five years of experience working in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing five to six figure gifts ideally in the Animal Welfare field.
• Experience in developing non-profit fundraising strategies, particularly for Major Donors and in developing a supporter journey.
• Evident track record of successfully meeting and exceeding fundraising targets.
• Knowledge and understanding of fundraising, including research sources and funding criteria.
• Evidence of developing successful fundraising applications to institutional and individual grant funders, especially within the Effective Altruism community.
• Demonstrably skilled and experienced in networking to build relationships, as well as able to build strong and lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
• Advanced prospect researching skills.
• Outstanding written communication skills, including the ability to write engaging copy which presents Crustacean Compassion as an appealing partner for donors.
• Excellent negotiating, diplomacy, and people skills.
• Able to demonstrate a commitment and sensitivity to the aims and objectives of Crustacean Compassion.
• Comfortable working in a small team, liaising effectively with colleagues to drive income alongside campaign objectives.
