We are looking for a creative, ambitious and supportive team member to work across the fundraising and communications department and help us build awareness and engagement with our key audiences, especially hospital teams.
As Communications and Fundraising Assistant, you will play a particularly prominent role in telling the story of what Charity funding makes possible at King’s – generating high quality content to communicate the difference we’re making, and helping our communications officer to bring it to life it on our digital channels. It will suit somebody who uses social media extensively in their personal life and can draw on that insight to help the team connect with our audiences.
Key Tasks
- Working with the Communications Officer to create content for websites, digital platforms, social media, email campaigns and other channels. This includes the Trust’s Inside King’s magazine as well as our own channels. It could involve interviewing staff, patients and volunteers, creating films, taking photographs.
- Organising, distributing and updating the Charity’s marketing materials around the Trust, including posters, leaflets and banners.
- Helping to maintain the Charity’s social media presence, creating and scheduling engaging content across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, producing analytics reports and using insights to inform future strategy.
- Developing our use of Sharepoint as an internal communications channel, and maintaining the Charity’s presence on the King’s staff intranet.
- Helping the Communications Officer keep our website fresh and engaging, identifying key user journeys and supporting colleagues across the charity to use the website to achieve business goals.
- Acting as a champion for the Charity’s work by attending regular events and assist in delivering internal engagement opportunities, such as fundraising events, celebrations, and so on.
- Generating reports on the team’s KPIs across all digital platforms, helping to improve user journeys across our digital platforms.
- Keeping communications and fundraising systems running smoothly, including the media library, filing systems, budget, and planning and reporting processes.
- Building effective relationships with digital suppliers such as website agency.
- Acting as an ambassador for and representing the Charity in a professional and efficient manner.
Person Specification
- Experience of working or volunteering in marketing or communications in a professional environment.
- Experience of supporting an organisation’s digital presence across social media, website, email marketing and internal channels.
- Extensive personal experience of using social media platforms
- Understanding of basic digital analytics tools and processes, such as Google Analytics.
- Experience of creating communications and marketing content and materials in adherence with brand guidelines.
- Ability to express ideas clearly to a wide range of audiences, turning complex information into compelling.
- Experience of using website content management systems (ideally Drupal) email marketing software (we use DotDigital), social media management tools (Hootsuite) and design programmes (Adobe Creative Suite).
- Experience of working with external suppliers and agencies to support the delivery of impactful communications.
- Photography and video production and editing skills.
- Confident and proactive, with strong sense of initiative.

Your key responsibilities include:
• High value donor and corporate fundraising programme support.
• Project manage high-value donor and corporate fundraising and engagement activities, including delivering appeals, submissions, and enquiries.

A rare breed of marketer/fundraiser and data analyst, with the unique ability to analyse and interpret data, you’ll be able to tell the insight stories needed to drive and evolve campaigns and develop new products.

Key accountabilities:
Use insight and analysis to inform and guide the Fundraising and CX team:
· Work with the Head of CX to manage all campaign analysis and insight projects and ensure that interpretations of the findings and insights are delivered to the appropriate stakeholders in order to inform and drive future performance and strategies
· Manage the analysis of fundraising campaigns and products, working closely with the relevant fundraising teams to identify key learning and make recommendations for future activity
· Build dashboards and ways of visualising data that fundraisers can use on a daily basis to track, report on and optimise their campaigns
· Work with others across the CX team to report against testing schedules and strategies
· Run segmentations as required for fundraising teams
· Ensure that completed insight is effectively disseminated to internal customers and that they understand and use it

Main purpose of the post
We are seeking to appoint a Business Development Coordinator to join a wider team that spearheads RUSI’s research fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director, Research Business Development, the successful candidate will enhance the institute’s business development activities by providing administrative and coordination support for business development, contracts, and risk management. Working closely with research groups, central services teams, and the senior management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that RUSI is well-placed to spot and respond to new funding opportunities and that our contracts are high-quality and executed efficiently.
This is a highly collaborative role that involves building very strong internal relationships at all levels of the organisation and managing competing priorities and deadlines. We are seeking a team player with a pragmatic and positive attitude and excellent attention to detail, who will enjoy taking on new challenges, using your initiative to solve problems, and seeing your work directly contribute to meeting our short- and long-term goals.
Key tasks
Tracking, identifying, and sharing new funding opportunities:

Conduct research to identify potential funders and grant opportunities, populate and maintain a prospects tracker. Ensure we have an accurate and current map of relevant funders at all times to draw from.

Manage the Business Development email inbox, ensuring we are registered to all relevant portals and that we are regularly checking funder portals that do not send notifications. Share summaries of relevant opportunities with the BD Director along with suggested dissemination plan, agree next steps and follow up with appropriate Research Groups.

Support research colleagues to identify funders to invite to RUSI events and draft outreach emails.
Providing administrative and coordination support on bids, contracts, and new business activities:

Assist the Bids Manager with compiling information about RUSI as an organisation, its registrations, policies, organisational structure, banking and insurance details, financial information, and other generic details to be included in bid submissions and for due diligence.

Support the Bids Manager/Director of Research Business Development with administration and coordination of specific components on large bids.
Maintaining and improving business development processes and systems:

Ensure the business development team trackers (action log, new funding opportunities etc.) are accurate and up to date.

Work closely with RUSI’s Legal and Contracts and Finance teams to finalise funder contracts and ensure that final copies are saved centrally, and key information is distributed to relevant teams. Ensure that relevant and accurate funder information is tracked by the finance system for ongoing analysis.

Review drafts of subcontractor agreements and work closely with RUSI’s Legal and Contracts team to manage the process for preparing, securing approval, finalising, and sharing sub-contracts.

Act as central point of contact for the research funding pipeline, ensure it is functioning as needed and respond to ad hoc questions.

Manage the team’s Sharepoint page, ensuring that it is useful and relevant for research colleagues, with high-quality templates and guidance.

In coordination with colleagues on the Communications team, update RUSI’s customer relationship management (CRM) system with accurate, relevant and up-to-date funder information and develop and promote best practice for CRM usage for BD.

Update RUSI funders on the website annually, ensuring that they are accurate and that we have appropriate permissions to acknowledge them publicly.

Assist in preparing training materials and internal presentations, including by conducting data analysis.

Schedule regular catch ups with research groups, take and share notes in appropriate formats, update trackers.

Take accurate and useful minutes and share and follow up on action points after Business Development meetings.

Establish strong working relationships with research teams, central service teams, and senior management.

Assist with administrative tasks for the business development team as needed, including setting up tech (Zoom/Teams) meetings, coordinating diaries, and booking meetings.
Managing the institutional Risk Management process:

Be responsible for ensuring that risk registers are maintained and updated across the Institute to track risk within the organisation.

Attend all Audit & Risk Committee meetings to update members on changes to the risk register, and take minutes for each meeting.

Work with the COO and Business Development team to ensure that RUSI has in place all policies and procedures across the Institute that are required by funders on various projects.

As National Support Coordinator you will provide support to our members living with a rare neuromuscular condition, myasthenia, their families, and carers. You will work alongside three additional National Support Coordinators and a Benefits and Welfare Officer, ensuring our members receive the support they need, via telephone, zoom meetings and email.
We are looking for someone that is willing to work a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. There may be the need to occasionally work during weekends and evenings and therefore there is a need to work flexibly when required. All evening and weekend work is agreed in advance.

We are seeking a Psychometrician for two days per week to lead psychometric analyses and interpret the examination results of the Royal College of Pathologists.
The College is responsible for the delivery of pathology examinations for doctors, scientists, oral pathologists (dentists) and veterinary pathologists in 17 specialties – the Fellowship examinations of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath). The FRCPath Part 1 is held online and is a test of knowledge while FRCPath Part 2 is held in person around the UK as well as in the Republic of Ireland and, for histopathology, in international centres such as Dubai and Egypt. The College is regulated by the General Medical Council for the medical examinations and the General Dental Council for the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology examinations, but the examinations are open to all appropriately qualified candidates.
The FRCPath examinations are held twice a year in Spring and Autumn and attracts approximately 1,200 candidates per session across the specialties. While some examinations attract up to 200 candidates, some examinations consistently attract very small numbers of candidates, with a number of examination cohorts sitting somewhere in between. The Psychometrician will advise on the appropriate data collection methods for the examinations and undertake psychometric analyses of appropriate examination data for each examination session and will, in time, be asked to provide analysis of longitudinal data.
As the College continues to develop its examinations, the Psychometrician will possess sufficient expertise to provide advice on the appropriate psychometric tests to undertake for the specialty examinations as different formats or methods of delivery are considered.
The examinations are delivered by an examinations team in the College which sits within the Learning Directorate. Each specialty examination is supported by an appropriately qualified panel, led by a Panel Chair, all of whom are overseen by the Clinical Director of Examinations (a pathologist). The Psychometrician will be expected to communicate with a wide range of individuals regarding the College examinations, with varying levels of knowledge about psychometrics, and will provide training for examiners and staff on a regular basis.
The College is a professional membership organisation dedicated to the advancement of the science and practice of pathology. There are currently approximately 12,000 members, all of whom are pathologists based in hospitals, universities and laboratories in the UK and overseas. The College’s main tasks are to set and maintain training standards for doctors and scientists, to advice on the appointment of consultant pathologists, to ensure the membership is kept up to date with current practice through the continuing professional development scheme, and to promote the latest developments in pathology by holding scientific meetings.

Over 3000 children in the UK need adoption each year because they cannot remain at home or with family members. The CVAA Practice Programme delivers 30 or more online courses each year to those working in the sector, primarily social workers.
