Key responsibilities

• Operational Leadership and Service Delivery: Oversee the effective day-to-day running of services, ensuring compliance, quality outcomes, confidentiality, and accurate record-keeping.
• People and Performance Management: Supervise and support Service Managers and teams, set performance standards, promote staff development, and ensure safe and effective recruitment practices.

You will understand safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection (DPA, GDPR) with knowledge of service performance frameworks and contract compliance. A strong communicator, you will be able to create reports and presentations and be able to analyse data and derive insights. You will have budget and resource management skills with strong planning, organisational and risk management experience. You will be able to work independently and manage time effectively with a flexible, adaptable and problem-solving attitude. A willingness to learn British Sign Language (BSL), if not already proficient, is essential.

You may have experience working with or in Deaf or disability services and familiarity with Deaf culture and BSL. The ideal candidate would have experience in tender writing and funding applications, experience of contract management and reporting to commissioners and funders, and knowledge of adult social care commissioning, but these are desirable criteria. A willingness to learn British Sign Language (BSL) if not already proficient is essential.

Most of the staff team are Deaf and they have frontline staff who are able to communicate in British Sign Language and Deaf-Blind Manual/Hands on. About the role

Each of the Support Network Coordinators have the responsibility for delivering, maintaining, and expanding the support services available to spinal cord injured (SCI) people and their region of the UK.

The post coordinates two vital parallel strands:

1. In your region, to reach and support newly and long-term spinal cord injured people and their families developing a strong partnership with all available specialist services, charity and business partners; managing a dedicated team of volunteers as well as providing direct support to SCI people with more complex support needs.
2. Nationally, working to facilitate the link between SCI people and SIA and the network of services; referring SCI people and their families to our clinical / health expert support teams and advocacy services; working with the Digital Engagement team to build on-line links to regional partners in your area; supporting fundraising, campaigns and communications.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the job for your if you’re good at:

• Building strong relationships – you’ll be talking to everyone from people with SCI and their families, to healthcare professionals, solicitors and partners who deliver key services.
• Identifying opportunities – to expand SIA’s portfolio of services, we’ll need your knowledge of organisations and individuals that provide services to those affected by spinal cord injury.
• Engaging People – whether it’s service users or your team of volunteers, the success of our work relies on you being able to keep people engaged with what we’re doing.
• Being organised – managing your own diary, keeping in touch with your contacts, ensuring your volunteers are being utilised effectively, providing support to those in greatest need, referring to internal & external service providers and keeping records of the support SIA is delivering.
• Providing life-changing support to those that need it most – you’ll be facing up to the most difficult challenges our service users face.
• Making the ask – whether it’s growing the fundraising activities that underpin the charity, securing the use of a venue for a support group meeting, or ensuring healthcare professionals are promoting our services.

The Opportunity

The Director role is a new opportunity working across ImpactEd Evaluation. Our partnerships encompass education organisations such as charities, edtech organisations and government, and schools and multi-academy Trusts. As a Director, you will be a senior leader of the evaluation practice and a statutory director on our Practice Board. Aim of the Role

Recruitment & Onboarding

• Work with managers to refine job descriptions, post roles, and advertise vacancies effectively.

• Manage the Recruitment inbox, responding promptly and professionally to candidate queries.

SCM is looking for a recent graduate to spend a year working with us to help us to continue to build on the work of our successful Faith in Action project. 

Run in partnership with Project Bonhoeffer, a small charitable trust, the project began in 2012 with a vision that Christian students in Britain would have a greater awareness and understanding of Bonhoeffer’s radical approach to faith and discipleship, and its implications for Christian living in the modern world. 

The project has helped to run over a dozen campaigns from Food Poverty to Peace, and had an immeasurable impact on thousands of students through blogs, resources, and relationships. All of this is bringing to light many ‘Bonhoeffers’ of today negotiating the implications on Christian living in the world.

In 2021 we developed the Faith in Action project as a graduate scheme by employing two graduates to work on the project; one to lead on theology bringing a depth of learning and theological refection, and the other to be a campaigns lead, taking us always back out into the world to make a difference.

The project has been very successful, and now we are looking to grow it for further. We are looking for a passionate graduate to join the project for the 2025-26 academic year.

In this role, you will be a theologian to make other theologians, and will provide the framework for students to be able to reflect theologically on their life and modern Christian Living. You will be responsible for growing the breadth of SCM’s Faith in Action resources, and discovering new ways of connecting with the current membership via the trends of social media or engaging in face-to-face reflections. An activist to make other activists, you will coordinate social action for SCM, engaging the membership in social justice projects that maximise our impact in society and the world.

You will work to build relationships between SCM communities and members to equip students with the skills they need to become faith-filled agents of social and political change and lead them in theological reflection to discern their involvement in local and national campaigns. You will also work to develop relationships with other Christian social justice and campaigning organisations to create opportunities for students to put their faith into action. In all of this, you will be supported by our small but perfectly-formed team, who will share your values and fully understand your aims in this project.

The role will require some travel within Britain, as well as semi-regular visits to the office in Birmingham, which may also include an overnight stay. All reasonable expenses for travel and accommodation will be reimbursed. Some evening and weekend work may be required for which time off in lieu will be given.

Salary and Progression

Trainee Debt Advisor starting salary of £24,477.20 with the opportunity to progress to a Debt Advisor role with a salary of £26,664.75 usually within 12 months. Further progression is available to a Senior Debt Advisor with a salary of £28,957.27, usually after 2 years (based on meeting necessary performance and development criteria).

Location

Bradford or Blantyre office based initially during training, with a hybrid working split between home and the office after completion of initial training. There is also the option to work entirely from the office if preferred. Initial training will include one week in our Bradford Head Office.

As a Trainee Debt Advisor you will complete a comprehensive programme of classroom training, online training, exams and on the job sign off to equip you to be able to bring expert advice and support our clients in their journey to becoming debt free.

Once you step into one team, you will be working in a fast paced, but rewarding environment. As a debt advisor you will be creating bespoke advice, crafted to help each client gain greater control over their finances. Whether it is negotiating with creditors, or reassuring a distressed caller, as a debt advisor you’ll be demonstrating the highest standard of service, demonstrating both expertise in knowledge but also genuine care for those we are working with. 

What a debt advisor does:

• Build budgets to support clients in managing their finances

• Create tailored advice plans to give suitable options to become debt free

• Negotiate with creditors to create a sustainable payment plan and stop further debt collection 

• Resolve client queries over phone, email and SMS

• Working with partner churches in running their local debt centres

Accountabilities:

• Complete the Debt Advisor classroom and online training course

• Create a client budget from information gathered by CAP centre staff, reviewing documentation, identifying further queries and applying guidance to expenditure

• To advise clients on their best options to deal with their financial difficulties. This includes formulating a strategy to become debt free, as well as broader advice relevant to their financial situation 

• Identify potential enforcement action against clients, negotiating with creditors to establish sustainable plans for repaying debts (or holding further enforcement action)

• Complete Phone training and achieve sign off for call handling 

• To deal with client and creditor queries as they arise through the various communication methods available; including phones, post, emails and SMSs 

• Amend and update client budgets with changes to their circumstances and identify when a change of circumstance impacts a clients route option

• Pass sign off for advice creation 

• To demonstrate patience and resilience whilst helping clients with multiple complex needs, ensuring that CAP continues to deliver the very best for the very least 

• To proactively manage clients’ cases toward a debt free conclusion, completing workflow tasks as required and complying with CAP’s Debt Help Policy and Procedures at all times

• To liaise with and work alongside other Debt Operations departments

• To communicate with the CAP debt coaches regarding the status of their client’s cases
