Service Managers are responsible for their services meeting targets and delivering on contract requirements, including providing the data required for contract and organisational monitoring.

The Service Manager role assumes responsibility for all aspects of SWAN’s Dorset statutory advocacy services. This includes a wide range of advocacy including IMCA, Care Act, IMHA, CHC, Carers and Generic advocacy, and advocacy for parents during child protection proceedings.  Our Service Manager is also responsible for the mobilisation and delivery of SWAN’s social value projects in Dorset.

The role requires a positive approach and a high degree of personal responsibility.  The Service Manager is responsible for the Dorset team’s performance.  Service Managers are experienced and inspirational leaders. They have, or are willing to work towards, a level 5 management qualification.

Direct reports:

Team Supervisors & Supervising Advocates

Duties and responsibilities: General

• To work collaboratively with other mangers and assist, when necessary, with providing cover during periods of absence and play an active part in SWAN’s Leadership Team
• Act as the safeguarding lead for the service
• Stay up to date with relevant legislation, changes to practice and wider activities relating to advocacy; to input to policies / procedures (COVID-19, LPS etc).
• Act as a role model for exemplary behaviour, attitude and mindset, embedding a culture of trust and accountability and challenging non-congruency and negativity
• To undertake all training as necessary and stay up to date with Continuing Professional Development
• Support SWAN to ensure that Advocacy Quality Performance Mark practices are business as usual
• Take responsibility for embedding good Health and Safety Practices and adhering to the Health and Safety Policy

Supervision and Development of Direct Reports

• Responsible for the recruitment of their service team
• Responsible for the effective induction of new staff members and support through their induction period
• Undertake regular supervisions and Personal Development Reviews in line with the Company requirements for all direct reports
• Organise and lead regular team meetings, to provide minutes, actions and documentation for each meeting. Team meetings will include professional development and guest speakers
• Deliver training workshops to the team, including lone working, safeguarding refreshers and the Purpose and Principles of Independent Advocacy (Unit 301) in line with Company requirements and maintain records of attendance
• Ensure all team members’ training is up to date and work with the Training Manager to create new opportunities to upskill the workforce
• Undertake all other people management responsibilities for the team in relation to absence and performance management
• Manage disciplinary and grievance issues if and when they arise

Management of Services

• Lead and manage the service in the delivery of outcome focused, issue based, person directed advocacy, in line with the relevant legislation for the advocacy discipline, regulations, codes of practice and internal policy and procedures
• Mobilise and manage local social value projects
• Responsible for the effective triaging of referrals and allocations of casework after considering prioritisation of cases, current caseloads and team members’ skill set
• Provide temporary cover for own team’s case work during periods of absence
• Complete accurate recording and reporting of all service data
• Ensure the timely completion of high quality commissioning report narratives and case studies
• Work proactively with the statutory services to promote the service, problem solve and uphold the agreed engagement protocols
• Communicate and negotiate effectively with a wide range of people, including commissioners, health and social care professionals and voluntary sector staff
• Identify risks in delivering the service and ensure compliance with risk management procedures
• Ensure the effective management of de-escalating client issues and handling of complaints
• Attend stakeholder meetings, forums and networks
• Ensure that good relationships are developed and maintained with other service providers
• Raise the profile of SWAN in the local area by any means identified as necessary

Qualifications Required:

• Diploma in Independent Advocacy Qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or 4) or willing to work towards.

The Supporter Services team is part of the Cats Protection Marketing & Income Generation directorate. The Supporter Services team is also responsible for the management of the Gift Aid scheme for Cats Protection, claiming money back from HMRC to provide much needed assistance to the many cats and kittens in need of help. As our Supporter Care Advisor you will provide a first-class level of customer care to current and potential supporters to secure financial and non-financial support, nurture relationships and increase levels of engagement, ensuring supporters feel valued and a key part of our work. You will be the first point of contact for fundraising enquiries and direct communication with supporters via a variety of channels (including inbound and outbound telephone calls, letters, email and social media response), helping to build loyal, committed relationships with supporters.

Main Responsibilities

Supporter care advisors are responsible for being the first point of contact for supporters and members of the public dealing with a wide range of enquiries via phone, email, web chat, social media and letter. Advisors provide excellent customer service by putting the supporter at the heart of everything we do. Capturing data and feedback accurately after each contact is key to help us identify trends and new ways of working. They will also thank supporters for their generous donations by creating bespoke acknowledgements within agreed timeframes. We also provide a first line self-empowerment support service where advisors are expected to manage individual cases.

Ideal Candidate

Experience working in a contact centre is preferred. In addition, providing information both verbally and in writing to a high standard is key. The ideal candidate will be able to work with a high volume of enquiries and have the necessary computer skills (incl. Word, Excel and Outlook), with the ability and willingness to learn new procedures through training provided. You will also be expected to react and deal with change in a positive manner, whilst demonstrating an understanding of the emotional intelligence needed and active listening skills.

You will play a pivotal ambassadorial role, spearheading Centre’s 404 service expansion into the London Brough of Brent and bringing our expertise, vision and values to families in need.

This varied and dynamic role will lead on the set up, coordination and provision of excellent person-centred care and support to service users, enabling them to live independently in their home and be supported in all aspects of day-to-day living. As Project Manager, you will oversee the development and implementation of care plans designed to provide meaningful choice and a range of activities and support to meet individual needs. You will also contribute to the development of the team and be responsible for encouraging a culture based on respect and dignity for those in need of care and support, providing supervision and clear management to a team of support workers.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience of leading and coaching a team supporting people with learning disabilities or another vulnerable client group. Experience of supporting people with high and complex support needs would be an advantage. Cherry Lodge Cancer Care is an independent charity committed to improving the quality of life for people living with cancer, their carers, family, and friends.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Cancer Information Specialist Nurse, and are seeking an experienced, flexible, and dynamic NMC registered nurse to join our team. 

At Cherry Lodge, we work alongside the clinical care of the NHS in an area centred on Barnet and covering much of North London and South Hertfordshire. We are based at the very friendly and welcoming Cherry Lodge Centre, in Union Street, Chipping Barnet. We also have an Outreach Service with an impact across the borough of Barnet, concentrating particularly on providing information and support to members of black and minority ethnic groups. Our Befriending Service provides additional support for people in their own homes.

Job Purpose:

To act as a specialist information resource for the management of people with cancer, their carers, and families.

To co-ordinate, manage and develop the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care (CLCC) information service by providing assessment, information, support and signposting to people visiting and telephoning the centre. Oversight of interventions and therapies delivered, ensuring the person with cancer/carer/family experience of support feels seamless and is transparent.

To work proactively with primary and secondary care and voluntary sector partners to promote Cherry Lodge Cancer Care and build awareness of the support available for people living with and beyond cancer. This will include further developing relationships with local cancer care providers including the North London Hospice and North Central London Cancer Alliance.

Contribute to the coordination of the day-to-day running of therapy and complementary therapies delivered at CLCC,  including mentoring of junior staff and volunteers as necessary. Working in close partnership with the Volunteer Co-ordinator and Befriending Service Lead.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Information/Service Provision

To ensure people with cancer their carers and families/friends gain access to the information they require by providing the following services:

1. To provide one to one sessions where assessment and planning ensures people are able to discuss all information aspects of their illness (symptom management, treatment, and living with cancer).

2. Provide support, access to therapies and signposting to other local services and support services.

3. Provide appropriate psychological support throughout the cancer diagnosis, treatment and follow up pathway, as appropriate and identified by the person with cancer.

4. Facilitate and support nurse/therapy led groups

5. Act as the person with cancer’s advocate, particularly where informed discussion may affect care management options, by ensuring robust links with secondary care Clinical Specialist Nurses.

6. Deliver support, information, and education to promote self-care following a diagnosis, and reduce risks of future complications. Actively encourage a Health & Wellbeing, enabling approach.

7. Work closely with the Cancer Information Specialist Nurse (Outreach).

8. To maintain a comprehensive, accurate and up to date information resource, including a database of information about local and national services.

9. Maintain professional links and liaise with other units/centres to ensure continuity of care and support for patients throughout their care pathway.

10.  To use communication skills and empathy to impart information at all levels. To work with the Operations Manager to audit the service on a regular basis ensuring that feedback from users of the service is used to develop services further.

11.  Support and participate in service review and ongoing development of nurse/therapy led services.

12.  Ensure clear and concise records are documented ensuring effective communication observing NMC guidance for records and records keeping.

13.  To provide information by telephone and respond to written requests for information.

Managerial and Leadership responsibilities

1. Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of care and providing leadership to all staff in the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care team.

2. Responsibly manage resources utilised within the role.

3. To publicise the facilities and activities of CLCC within the local provider trusts and in the wider community.

4. To ensure all activity delivered at CLCC is recorded on the database and provide regular updates to the Operations Manager and Trustees, helping to identify where there is unmet need in order that new services can be developed/commissioned.

5. To develop policies and procedures to assure the quality of information giving and support, including monitoring and evaluation systems that meet the highest standards, and is in line with activity across the North Central London Cancer Alliance.

6. To contribute to the Charity’s annual and strategic plans by working with the Operational Manager and Trustees to provide data & narrative that will assist in planning future service developments.

Training and Education

2. To contribute to CLCC’s education programme by organising talks, seminars and workshops relating to cancer information and support.

Person specification:

You will have:

We are looking for a social work qualified experienced people manager to take responsibility for operational management and development of our social work services.

You will ensure that effective services are delivered to children and young people with cancer and their families through the professional supervision of our staff group, working across split sites.

You will have:

• You must hold an appropriate social work qualification.
• Extensive experience of working with children and young people including complex case work and risk assessment and care planning, caseload management and interagency working
• Experience of managing safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults, legislation, procedures and best practice
• Experience of supervising students and / or staff in a social care setting
• Experience of delivering support to young people and families via different mediums including individuals, groups and digital delivery.
• A proven ability to manage expectations of key stakeholders including staff and service users

We are looking for an experienced project manager to manage the development, delivery and review of the National Bereavement Care Pathway (NBCP) partnership project and embed it across NHS Trusts in Northern Ireland to drive up standards of care. This pathway addresses the inequity of bereavement care offered to, and experienced by parents when a baby dies. The project is being sponsored by the Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland.

This is a high-profile and rewarding role which will involve developing and delivering a NBCP in Northern Ireland which is parent-centred and drives up standards of care. You will use your project management skills to help to initiate, develop and deliver the project, taking an early view whether to adopt a phased or an all-in approach amongst NHS Trusts in Northern Ireland. The post-holder will engage with health care professionals, national bodies, sector partners, senior decision makers and bereaved parents at both an operational and strategic level to ensure successful delivery of a sustainable pathway.
