A bit about this role:

As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Whatever your skill set, this role could be perfect for you!

What can you expect to be doing?

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

• face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, attending supermarket collections and monitoring collection boxes.
• online fundraising – assisting with online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised.
• bringing new ideas! We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life.
• engaging with your local branch and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team.

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge though Cats Protection’s learn online system, providing you with the skills to thrive as a fundraiser. You’ll also have the chance to meet new people and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers. Money raised by our volunteers enables us to put cats first. Cats are at the centre of all we do. We care for them, ensure their welfare, and help others to understand and better support them.

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

The well being of our people is important and at Cats Protection we are committed to safeguarding children, adults at risk and all those that we encounter as part of our activities.

Are you a fundraising professional looking to use your skills to make a positive impact? The Lymphoedema Support Network (LSN) is seeking a volunteer Trustee with expertise to help us raise the funds to ensure we can continue supporting the nearly 500,000 people (including children) in the UK affected by lymphoedema.

The LSN plays a crucial role in educating individuals, society and health care professionals about lymphoedema and the impact it has on every aspect of life and enabling those living with the condition and those facilitating their care to work together to ensure everyone can control and live well with lymphoedema.

Though lymphoedema isn’t widely understood or provided for in the NHS yet, we are here to support those who need us. While it’s a chronic condition, we believe that with the right care and support, lives can be greatly improved.

We are at an exciting time in our journey and would love to welcome a new trustee to help us fund the many opportunities ahead.

As a Trustee, you will help ensure our financial sustainability, and support us in making strategic decisions. You don’t need personal experience with lymphoedema—your expertise and commitment to helping others are what matters most.

Detailed description

You could be part of our exciting pilot project as a volunteer Parish Nurse offering life-transforming whole-person healthcare, working alongside Chaplains, Complex Needs and Housing Support Workers.

 As a YMCA Parish Nurse you would:

• Help service users identify issues and self-manage their wellbeing so they flourish in body, mind and spirit. This might be 1:2:1 or in a group setting.
• Signpost, support, and provide information and reassurance enabling service users to access NHS and other professional or community support as well as internal support from YMCA colleagues and projects.
• Offer spiritual care from a Christian perspective, such as prayer or acts of worship
• Be instrumental in supporting the project develop in this pilot phase

Training for this role is provided by PNMUK as part of their on-going programme of support and personal development for Parish Nursing nationally. The next course is 15-17th November with follow-up online sessions.

This project is being developed and lead by One YMCA’s Chaplaincy Team, together with our Medium Complex Intensive Support Service (MCISS) and supported by Parish Nursing Ministries UK (PNMUK).

The Chaplaincy Team offer life-transforming spiritual care and pastoral support. For us Chaplaincy is about journeying with people, inspired by the life, example and teaching of Jesus. Our vision for Chaplaincy is to see even more of our service users and staff thriving through experiencing the love of God for themselves. Following a re-shaping of our work, Chaplaincy is now part of the newly formed Christian Mission team, which is at the heart of this growing charity.

For many in Waltham Forest, a simple bus ride isn't simple at all. For our service users—older adults, people with disabilities, and those isolated by lack of mobility—our community transport is a lifeline. It’s a journey to a doctor's appointment, a trip to the shops for fresh food, and a vital connection to community and family. It is the difference between isolation and inclusion.

As a trustee, you will be the strategic force that secures and strengthens this lifeline. Your guidance will directly impact our ability to grow and serve. You will help us navigate the complex landscape of health and social care integration, ensuring our services are not just a transport option, but a recognised and funded part of the local care ecosystem. Your strategic insight will shape our long-term plans, helping us identify new opportunities, manage risks, and ensure our financial sustainability for years to come.

What are we looking for?

We are particularly seeking applicants with professional OR lived experience in one or more of the following areas:

Strategic Planning: Proven experience in developing and implementing long-term strategies, whether in a commercial, public, or voluntary sector context. You are a big-picture thinker who can help navigate complexity.

Health Sector: A background in the NHS, public health, or health commissioning, with an understanding of community-based care models, patient pathways, and funding streams.

Social Care: Experience in adult social care, either as a professional, service user, or carer, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable adults and the social care landscape in Waltham Forest.

Essential

· A commitment to the mission and values of Community Transport Waltham Forest.

· The ability to think strategically and exercise independent judgement.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

· A understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship.

Volunteer with Stepping Stones Learning and Leisure

Stepping Stones is a small, friendly charity in Southwark providing inclusive activities for adults with learning disabilities. We believe everyone should have the chance to express themselves, connect with others, and take part in activities that bring joy, confidence, and new skills.

We’re currently looking for volunteers to support our sessions in:

• Art (Tuesday afternoons)
• Dance Fit (Thursday mornings and/or afternoons)
• Social Club (Thursday afternoons)
• Drama (Friday afternoons)

These weekly groups offer creative, social, and wellbeing-focused opportunities for our learners, led by experienced tutors in a relaxed, supportive setting.

All sessions take place at St Faith’s Centre, Red Post Hill, SE24 9JQ (close to North Dulwich and Herne Hill stations)

What You’ll Do

As a volunteer, you’ll be supporting adults with learning disabilities to participate fully in the sessions, connect with others, and enjoy meaningful activities. Your role might include:

• Helping tutors to deliver fun, engaging activities

• Inclusive communication skills. You should feel confident listening carefully, offering clear instructions or encouragement, and adapting your communication to meet individual needs.
• Inclusive and non-judgemental. We welcome people from all walks of life. An open-minded approach helps every learner feel accepted and valued.
• Adaptable and flexible. Things don’t always go to plan. A calm, flexible approach helps maintain a relaxed and safe environment for our sessions to run.
• Ready to get stuck in! Many sessions involve art, music or movement. You don’t need to be an expert, but a willingness to join in and get involved makes a big difference.

Prior to volunteering, we ask all volunteers to:

• Attend an induction meeting
• Provide two references
• Complete a DBS check (we will arrange this)
• Commit to volunteering one session per week for 3 x 10 week terms throughout the year. For continuity for our service users, we ask that you commit to volunteer for a minimum of a year with us.
