Richmond Carers Centre, a network partner of the Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice and a voice for carers living and caring in London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim. We provide a targeted service to young carers, aged 5 – 18 years. Young carers, provide vital emotional and practical support to a family member with a care need including sibling young carers. Their care role can have an impact on their wellbeing, education and social opportunities. As Young Carers Support Worker you will be part of a small, dedicated team which directly deliver a range of services for young carers, including information and advice, emotional support and mentoring, promoting awareness of young carers and delivering a wide selection of group activities, both term-time and in the school holiday programme. Using all your skills, you will work with the young carers’ team to deliver, review, and continually develop services for young carers to best meet their identified needs.

With your proven knowledge of working with children and young people, families, carers or other vulnerable groups on an individual and/or group basis, you will recognise the importance of being client focused and have a commitment to enhance the lives of young carers and their families, including knowledge and awareness of sibling young carers and vulnerable families. You will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of young carer’s needs, a wide range of skills in relation to service delivery to support young carers and have a sound understanding of social care provision in both statutory and voluntary sector environments.

You will be self-motivated and positive in your approach to working with both young carers, their families and team members, and have a willingness to embrace our organisational values.  Being innovative and creative, you will identify and implement a range of support mechanisms for young carers, enhancing their wellbeing and supporting them to achieve identified goals.  Strong administrative, time management, IT and organisational skills are essential.  Your ability and willingness to regularly work outside normal working hours is required.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our new service supporting Unpaid Carers across Lewisham to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs.

The team works with unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers, completing statutory and holistic assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need. You will carry out home visits and community meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Unpaid Carers, families, and professionals.  

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Unpaid Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will also support the development of escalation plans so that Unpaid Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Unpaid Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. Experience of working in mental health or dementia services would be an advantage.

The Family Support Worker will work across our Young Carers and Adult Carers Service to provide support to families affected by substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. The successful candidate will ensure that adult and young carers, and their families, have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of working within the substance misuse field and an understanding of associated health and social issues. They will preferably have experience of working with both adults, children and young people. We are seeking candidates with a professional qualification in health & social care, youth or community work, and/or direct experience of delivering family focused interventions.

Unpaid carers in our communities are supporting relatives, friends and neighbours, often with limited or no support, to live the best lives they can.  The support of people with dementia, learning or physical disabilities, mental health difficulties or substance misuse problems by unpaid carers has been estimated to save the government close to the equivalent expenditure for the whole NHS.

We are looking for a Mental Health Carers Advisor who possesses an understanding of the challenges of unpaid caring and whose experience of working within mental health services includes support, prevention, recovery, and self-management. Applicants should possess effective skills in communication and have experience of completing assessments, managing a diverse caseload and working in a busy work environment. An ability to work independently but collaboratively, to be proactive and to show initiative is essential for this role.

Summary of Role

Working under the direction of our Centre Managers at Arc in the Park and Abbey Hub, Support Workers are key to ensuring the successful delivery of our provision for children and young people. An opportunity has arisen for a lead Support worker to work within our Sanctuary crisis intervention and prevention service, based in Fore Street in Enfield. We act as a short-term A&E and Emergency services alternative, providing support to individuals in the Enfield Borough aged 18+. 

This role is to provide leadership and support to the Sanctuary team on shift. The role will:

• Lead shifts during the week, providing support to team members via case management support, escalation, Health and Safety guidance
• Support the Sanctuary Manager to embed processes within the service, and ensure that these are carried out
• Work alongside the Manager and team to ensure that the service is operating to high quality standard.
• Provide support in times of emotional distress for clients. The support worker will provide a calm, supportive presence.

 The role will support clients through co-producing support plans with practical and therapeutic support offerings, as well as contributing to the development of a warm welcoming environment and ‘safe space’ to be.

This position would suit someone with a minimum of 2 years experience of working with people with mild, moderate and severe mental health issues.

Holiday  20 days per annum with the addition of time off over the Christmas period when FST closes for two weeks.

FST is a charity and alternative education provider. We have been delivering practical and emotional support, as well as education for vulnerable young people for nearly 20 years. Working closely with schools, PRU’s, local authorities and other youth professionals day to day. We care for, empower, and give hope to our young people to realise their own potential. We run projects which encompass personal, social development and life skills. Our flagship mentoring scheme includes one-to-one and small group sessions. The focus is on the outcome, but also on the journey. In addition we collaborate with Caius House to deliver their after-school programme.

Main aim of the role: 

Playing a vital role within our expanding youth support team at Future Skills, you will work to support and empower our young people to re-engage and return to education and employment. You will be creating structured lesson plans to deliver high quality soft skills sessions. You will be proactive and get involved with the pupil’s daily activities, promoting teamwork and setting a good example. You will also build positive relationships with the young people, fellow professionals, parents and carers as this is key to this role.

In addition to that, you will work with the team here at Caius House to help deliver an after-school programme for young people, usually one evening per week. To this effect, you will work with both the FST team and the team on-site at Caius House.

The post holder will be responsible for: 

• Working with colleagues to develop a soft skills curriculum for our group and one to one sessions.

• Actively participating in the sessions we deliver including off-site trips and sporting activities.

• Undertaking one-to-one and small group mentoring with vulnerable and at-risk young people aged 8-16 years old.

• Working with the FST team delivering personal and social development workshops with excluded young people, encouraging them to engage and develop and challenging negative behaviours.

• Building relationships and regularly communicating with parents/carers and professionals.

• Building positive relationships with children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, inspiring and motivating them, acting as a positive role model at all times.

• Bringing passion, ideas, creativity, energy and strategies to all projects.

• Demonstrating understanding of the issues faced by children and young people.

• Keeping accurate records of attendance and session evaluations using our online database system.

• Having an active role in our regular team meetings.

• Complying with the organisational requirements for health and safety, child protection, safeguarding and other policies and procedures.

The post holder should possess:
 

• Previous experience of working with vulnerable, at risk and disengaged children and young people 

• A passion for building relationships with children and young people and helping them grow and develop.

• Experience of building partnerships with other organisations and communicating with professionals as well as parents and carers

• Knowledge of formal and informal education systems.

• Ability to be flexible and adaptable, reliable and innovative.

• Ability to work under pressure, be self-motivated and driven to succeed

• Well-developed people skills and excellent organisational skills. 

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Good working knowledge of main office applications (word and excel)

• An up to date DBS.

Age UK Kensington & Chelsea offers dementia services which make a real difference to residents affected by the condition living in the Borough. Those services include advice, practical help, befriending, social activities and emotional support. The Dementia Support Worker is responsible for managing a caseload of individual clients, providing practical and emotional support to the most isolated and vulnerable in our community. The support takes the form of weekly or bi-weekly visits to the client’s home, as well as contact by phone and email and liaising with social care and health professionals as directed by the client’s wishes or needs.

This role requires the worker to work independently and manage their own caseload. With other members of the Dementia Services team, the Dementia Support Worker will also help with transport, group activities, trips, events, training and local forums.

We are seeking a Part Time Dementia Support Worker (up to 21 hours per week)

Rates of Pay: £13.45ph to £15.02ph (depending on experience/qualifications, including holiday allowance)

Summary of Role

Working under the direction of our Centre Managers at Arc in the Park and Abbey Hub, Support Workers are key to

ensuring the successful delivery of our provision for children and young people. Working with children and young

people in group settings, the role will support the delivery of our play and youth projects and activities to aid their

development.

Responsibilities

● Providing for the social, personal, educational and leisure needs of children and young people by assisting in

the running, organisation and delivery of particular projects.

● Establishing positive relationships with all children and young people supporting and enabling them to

increase their confidence and realise their potential, fully integrating them into all project activities.

● Coordinating resources and to develop opportunities for children and young people which reflects their

particular needs and circumstances.

● Facilitating the active involvement of the children and young people in the planning and development of the

project programme.

● Facilitating the positive integration of children and young people with behavioural difficulties and/or

additional needs within the project.

● Supporting and guiding volunteers, trainees and junior leaders in all of the above, as required.

● Working as a member of the AAA team to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and young people

being supervised including day to day 'housekeeping' of the site and maintenance of equipment.

● Liaising with parents, carers and other organisations and professionals as required.

● Adapting activities to meet a child's/young person’s needs as appropriate.

● Carrying out health and safety inspections as required.

● Adhering to AAA policies and procedures in respect of safeguarding children and young people.

● Administering medication, if appropriate training successfully completed.
