The Charity:
Aphasia Support is a passionate, community-centred charity. Our mission is to improve the wellbeing of people with Aphasia and their carers by providing tailored speech and language therapy and long-term support. We want to create a world where every person with Aphasia has access to support and can communicate with confidence.
The charity currently has 4 staff members (Chief Executive, Fundraising & Communications Manager, Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, Administrator) and 8 Speech and Language Therapists working for the charity on a sessional basis. The sessional workers oversee our 1to1 support and aphasia cafes. The charity has over 60 volunteers who provide the 1to1 support and help run our aphasia cafes.
The Role:
Aphasia Support is looking to recruit a Community Engagement & Volunteer Officer who will work with the charity’s speech and language therapy team and volunteers in West Yorkshire, Harrogate and Barnsley to ensure our support reaches the people who need it most.
We envisage this to be a split role:
- 3 days focused on ensuring people in West Yorkshire, Harrogate and Barnsley receive timely support through the charity's community-based Aphasia Cafe's and at-home 1:1 speech and language therapy service.
- 2 days focused on overseeing the charity's volunteer recruitment and retention programme, ensuring Aphasia Support's valued volunteers receive the best possible experience, utilising their time and resource to create the biggest impact.

Main duties will include:
·Processing of new referrals into the charity alongside the current SLT Assistant. Contacting new referrals and outlining the charity’s 1to1 support and aphasia café support offer and completing initial referral paperwork via phone and email.
· Gaining a thorough understanding of the speech and language therapy apps used by the charity and supported conversation techniques. You will work towards being the resident expert on the speech and language therapy apps used by the charity.
· Matching people with aphasia with volunteers for our 1to1 support service within West Yorkshire, Harrogate and Barnsley.
· Completing initial appointments in the client’s home alongside volunteers. Taking speech and language therapy assessments and turning them into clear therapy plans that can be delivered confidently by the volunteers.
· Provide ongoing advice and support to volunteers and clients.
· Provide home based 1to1 support for clients, if required.
- Leading on volunteer recruitment for all areas of the charity by liaising with the charity’s Fundraising & Communications Manager alongside branch committees, volunteer centres, universities, colleges and NHS volunteering teams.
· Screening of new volunteers and administering of reference and DBS checks.
· Leading on the charity’s quarterly volunteer inductions.
· On occasion supporting the charity’s event fundraising calendar which will require some evening work.
· If required, supporting the running of the charity’s aphasia cafes.

Person Specification
Essential
· Good general level of education or equivalent work-based experience
· Excellent organisational skills and time management skills.
· Good administrative and record keeping skills including strong attention to detail.
· Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully both verbally and in writing
· Good technical literacy of Microsoft Applications e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
· Experience working with CRM databases, and maintaining accurate records
· Highly confident user of technology, specifically iPads, with a willingness to learn about speech and language therapy apps.
· Good interpersonal skills including listening and display empathy
· Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships
· Demonstrates understanding and ability to manage self, and work with others at all levels
· Demonstrate a commitment and enthusiasm for supporting people with aphasia and their carers.
· Have access to a car for work purposes and hold a full current UK driving licence

WellChild is part of the Digital Services Consortium, a coalition of 12 charities and similar organisations all focused on driving digital inclusion for disabled or seriously ill children, young people and their families across the UK.
The Digital Inclusion Programme is a new project at WellChild with the aim of providing equipment and digital skills training to families who have children with complex medical needs, specifically targeting harder to reach and diverse families. Being digitally excluded has a negative impact on people’s access to health care and social engagement and this newly created and exciting role will make a real difference to the lives of those supported.
What we are looking for:
We are seeking an empathetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated person to join our friendly and supportive team as a Digital Inclusion Officer to work directly with charity beneficiaries - parents and carers of children with complex medical needs who are digitally excluded.
Purpose of the role:
This is an exciting new role at WellChild, and the Digital Inclusion Officer will be vital to the success of this project, helping to shape it from the very beginning. This opportunity will see you delivering and facilitating targeted outreach and digital inclusion support, including training and workshops to those harder-to-reach and digitally excluded families helping them improve their digital skills. This will be achieved through development and provision of training utilising Good Things Foundation’s ‘Learn My Way’ resources enabling these families to become digitally included and supporting them to engage with our parent carer community – The WellChild Family Tree.
This will be achieved by networking with community organisations, services and groups with a particular focus on those harder-to-reach and digitally excluded families. This role is also an opportunity to develop a new volunteer programme for digital champions to help feed into and grow this new service area ensuring our digital inclusion offer is sustainable in the long term.
The Digital Inclusion Officer will also be responsible for developing ways to provide ongoing support to the service users, encouraging and supporting them to join our parent carer community, or working with the wider family team to create new tools to connect these families, reducing their isolation and providing them with peer support, guidance and opportunities to take part in activities and events offered through our WellChild Family Tree.
Working within the Families Team as part of the broader Programmes Team and reporting to the Family Programm Manager, this role will lead the development and delivery of our digital inclusion project.
There are three key parts to this role:
Outreach and identification of families – working with WellChild staff, external organisations and stakeholders to design and deliver ways to identify and recruit digitally excluded families to the programme so they can become digitally included and access much needed support and guidance.
Development and delivery – using a user-led, test-driven approach to shape WellChild’s digital inclusion offer to deliver, facilitate and coordinate support and workshops providing targeted training to improve digital skills to harder-to-reach groups. This will also include the provision of equipment and data enabling these groups to be digitally included.
Sustainability and engagement – Monitor and evaluate programme’s success and identify ways to ensure the digital inclusion programme can develop as a sustainable service by developing a network of volunteer champions to support the programme delivery, promotion and engagement of service users. Working with wider teams to create resources and connect families to our parent carer community – The WellChild Family Tree.
You will also be expected to help identify case studies that can be used to promote the work of the charity, whilst monitoring & evaluating activities and engagement, producing reports as necessary. Throughout your work you will embed safeguarding processes and policies to keep families safe.
You will be able to:
- Demonstrate recent experience in supporting vulnerable people.
- Demonstrate the ability, skills and/or experience delivering digital inclusion training, developing and shaping content to the needs of the service user.
- Build and sustain valuable relationships with our families so they feel engaged and supported from the moment they access support including those from harder-to-reach and diverse groups.
- Provide digital skills training to families enabling them to confidently become digitally included whilst identifying any additional requirements for data, equipment or assistive technology.
- Develop and network with key organisations/groups/services to build relationships and identify service users.
- Support and work with the Family Programme Manager to maximise strategies to grow the programme, including increasing our WellChild Family Tree membership base to include harder-to-reach and more diverse families.
- Recruit and support volunteers to sustain and enhance the digital inclusion programme.

- Demonstrate experience and/or knowledge of the Learn My Way digital training resource or similar platforms.

We are seeking a Dementia Carers Support Officer who can make a positive difference to the lives of unpaid carers in the diverse communities of Redbridge. We are a Queen's Award winning charity with over 30 years experience of supporting unpaid carers in Redbridge. The post holder will focus on supporting carers of someone with dementia, by providing them with advice, information, referrals and access to peer social and learning activities. Project Overview:
The Barnsley Street Project is a Community Mental Health Pilot aimed at delivering continuous, person-centred mental health care to underserved populations in PCN1 (Bethnal Green). This initiative is a collaborative effort between East London Foundation Trust (ELFT), Tower Hamlets Mental Health Alliance (THMHA), and the Look Ahead Housing Association. Driven by the voice of lived experience, the project is designed to address the systemic gaps in mental health services, particularly for marginalised communities.
Purpose of the role:
To identify and coordinate an effective support service for unpaid carers who support residents who access the Barnsley Street Project, with the aim of supporting carers to have their needs met as well as develop a healthy and sustainable caring role.
To facilitate access for unpaid carers in the Barnsley Street Project to appropriate support services, both statutory and voluntary. To provide comprehensive support and information to families and carers. To raise awareness of carers’ needs with professionals in the project environment and contribute to carer friendly policies.
The post will involve the direct provision of services, referral to and between services, collaborative work with other local agencies and outreach work. The post-holder will provide advocacy, referral, and ongoing practical and emotional support to unpaid carers through individual and group work.

You will drive and promote innovative ways of involving and hearing from patients, carers, and the public, challenging traditional methods, particularly ensuring growing involvement from currently underrepresented and underserved groups and communities to enhance our engagement, understanding, and cohesion with people from all backgrounds affected by heart diseases.

About the Role
The Oldham A Bed for Every Night (ABEN) project is a temporary supported accommodation project whose key focus is providing stability and building independence skills to enable adults who have been rough sleeping, to move on to long term accommodation options. Clients are adult homeless people aged over 18 with a range of support needs in Oldham. The Service provides 24-hour support to adult who have been rough sleeping.
As an Accommodation Support Worker you will play a vital role in supporting adults (aged 18+) as they move from emergency accommodation into their own homes. Working closely with the Service Manager, you will lead on support planning, risk assessments, and the day-to-day engagement of your caseload of clients.
You will be responsible for helping clients achieve personal goals, supporting access to education, employment, or volunteering opportunities, and ensuring their accommodation remains a safe and supportive environment. You will also contribute to group activities and promote client involvement in service development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting clients through tailored support plans, risk and needs assessments
