This is an exciting opportunity to work for a Queen’s Award winning charity supporting unpaid carers in the London borough of Redbridge. You will give advice and information to carers and work closely with them to develop person centred support plans. You will work within a Community Support Team to deliver peer support groups, wellbeing activities, advice surgeries, outreach and events across the borough.
If you have experience of 1-1 support work and of providing advice and information, particularly around welfare benefits, this could be the perfect role for you. We are looking for someone with an understanding of carers issues and experience of working with people from diverse communities. This is a varied and demanding role requiring good communication and time management skills and a common sense approach to helping others. Your skills and experience will make a positive difference to the lives of carers and their families.
This is a part time 21 hour per week post mainly based in Ilford with some community outreach and home working.

About the role:
Kinship is in our third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We are looking for a new Associate Director of Peer Support and Community to build and develop our model and to take the team to the next phase of growth and impact.
Your first priority will be to oversee delivery of the Department for Education national Peer Support Service contract in England. You will lead the development of our hub and spoke model, with an enhanced offer of national resources and support together with a continued focus on on-the-ground support for kinship carers to set up and sustain a network of peer support groups. You will ensure all members of the team have clarity and are empowered to meet new targets and ways of working.
The role will also lead on the strategic development of peer support approaches in Wales (for which we are seeking funding), ensuring innovation and good practice is shared across the nations.
Kinship peer support groups are powerful levers for change in local, regional and national ecosystems. Your team will ensure that every kinship carer in England and Wales has access to a peer support group, or support to set up and create their own. The team will be purposeful about offering developmental support to all kinship peer support groups, including independent groups, ensuring they remain or become sustainable. And that they have resources, training and peer networks to support this.
Reflecting our strategic focus on developing our Kinship Community of more than 10,000 kinship carers across England and Wales, you will lead a new community strategy, co-ordinating the development of opportunities for community connection and community power. This will include taking leadership for developing the Kinship model of community engagement and integrating across all our ‘in person’ and digital services and activities.
You will ensure a collaborative approach with services, alignment with national and local campaigning activity, and work closely with marketing and communications colleagues to support kinship carer reach and engagement with our community offer.
We’re taking an integrated approach to our services, so you’ll collaborate well across teams to ensure that support groups and their leaders have easy access to high quality advice, information and training. The team will need to work closely with colleagues delivering our new training and support contract, funded by the Department for Education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Innovation of the Peer Support Service.

Develop and rollout peer support and community strategy and operational plan.

Implement monitoring and evaluation and impact tools for timely and accurate reporting of activity and engagement.

Work with the Development team to develop proposals for the community and peer support which are ready for fundraising and business development.
Essential requirements include:

Substantial experience in scaling a national service or programme with high quality outputs. This includes overseeing delivery, strategic planning, budgeting, managing delivery, meeting KPIs, stakeholder engagement and reporting to funders.

Experience of governance and managing risk on high profile service delivery.

Experience of effective budget management.

Significant experience of leading the development and delivery of peer support services.

Our Carer Liaison Workers work within both local NHS Trusts (BRI and Southmead Hospitals), where they make a real difference, supporting adult carers – those who care for others who can’t manage without their help, when the person they care for goes into hospital.
You would provide information, advice and support, enabling carers to navigate their way through the intricacies of the hospital journey, whilst liaising with health and social care professionals to ensure the carers voice is heard and their needs are supported, including during discharge planning.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To work alongside the FASD Services Manager, FASD Lead Advisor and FASD Advisors in the delivery of the FASD Hub services including developing/delivering FASD training; providing direct support to families, providing line management supervision to volunteers and taking a lead role in facilitating community support services including peer support groups, Advice Line and the establishment of community support groups
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·The post holder will take a lead role and play an active part in the service’s peer support activities including online peer support groups/forums, virtual community groups and the establishment of a network of local community support groups.
·Lead delivery of FASD training workshops, seminars, webinars, events, commissioned training, and bespoke sessions for parents/carers, professionals, and stakeholders. The delivery of training may be online or in person and may require travel throughout Scotland.
·Responsible for supporting FASD Hub service users through direct one-to-one support to parents/carers.
·Provide support and supervision to FASD Hub volunteers.
·The post holder will take a significant role in the design and development of training materials and resources, including updating and refreshing in line with new FASD developments and research which impact upon the FASD community.
·Support the wider work of Adoption UK to deliver training on FASD to members, staff, and stakeholders, for example as part of Kinship Care Week, Adoption Week Scotland, The Promise etc.On occasions these maybe outside Scotland.
·Provide support and guidance to the FASD Helpline Advisor and follow up targeted enhanced advice in response to helpline enquires.
·Provide cover and answer incoming enquiries to the FASD Hub Helpline, (telephone, email, and online platforms), along with occasionally providing cover to other Adoption UK Helpline services.
·Working alongside other team members, the post holder will have input into the development, designing and planning of content for FASD Hub social media accounts, to ensure content is factually correct and the messaging reflects that of the FASD Hub service and FASD community.
·Attend relevant national meetings, conferences, training events, networking, and development opportunities to promote the FASD Hub services and/or delivering FASD training.

The Trusts and Foundations Manager will further develop and review their current trusts and foundations strategy, with a focus on growing and renewing five- and six-figure income from Trusts, Foundations and grant making bodies. This is an ideal role for an experienced and collaborative Trust fundraiser, capable of developing long-lasting relationships and build compelling cases for support that secure transformational donations for an iconic institution.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience of writing successful and compelling proposals and applications to Trusts and Foundations and securing multi year funding. You will also have demonstrable experience of working across an organisation to develop fundraising bids and reports.
