Age UK Camden Day Care Centres are looking to recruit a Day Care Officer to cover  20 hours a week in shifts (4 x 5 hours) across our two Day Care Centres.

Key Duties Include:

• Developing and delivering a PR & communications plan aligned with the Hospice strategy
• Acting as the main point of contact for all media and press enquiries
• Managing the Hospice website, newsletters, and social media presence
• Supporting income generation through high-quality marketing materials

Qualifications, skills and experience

Essential

• Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience.

• Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and culturally responsive approaches to serving diverse populations.

This is an opportunity to lead an award winning communications team – Third Sector Communications Team of the Year in 2024 – that’s tasked with changing how we think about hospice, end of life and palliative care in the UK.

As the charity representing the UK’s 200+ hospices, we have secured ourselves a significant national platform in the past year or two, with regular, top-tier national media, and online campaigns which have forced the government to act. 

With assisted dying legislation progressing across the UK, now is a critically important moment for the public – and for politicians – to better understand what hospice care is all about, and the challenges we face.

As part of our mission to promote and protect hospice care for all, it is critical that our communications team keeps it high on the agenda. We’ve built huge momentum – whether with regular national TV news coverage, a rapidly growing online supporter base, or though our recently overhauled brand. But we need a savvy, politically switched-on Head of Communications and Campaigns to keep that going, and to make it pay off.

Hospices are amongst our most loved community charities, and our job as the national charity for hospice care is to rally the public – as well as major donors like companies and trusts – to support these brilliant organisations.

You’ll need a strong eye for a story, and an integrated understanding of the full spectrum of communications, campaigns and marketing. You’ll likely be a specialist in one area – which is fine – but we want someone who can join the dots, spot the opportunities, and inspire a team of specialists.

The Job

Communications Manager – Co-op Foundation  
£40,000 to £45,000 (Work Level 6B) 

Fixed-term contract to cover parental leave for until June 2026 

Remote, in this role you’ll work from home but will be required to come into our Manchester office a minimum of every 6 weeks for team days. This role will include occasional evening and weekend work. 
We’re looking for a Communications Manager to join us at the Co-op Foundation. 

The Co-op Foundation is the Co-op’s charity. We’re a grant making and campaigning organisation with a co-operative difference. We care deeply about how our funding and campaigning can shift power to young people and we trust our partners to do what matters most in their communities. 

As our Communications Manager, you’ll lead on the development and delivery of communications relating to funding programmes and learning and impact. • Produce content that brings to life the funding programmes, including videos, photoshoots, in depth case studies, blogs and more 

• Manage contracts and relationships with external agencies and delivery partners to support delivery of comms 

• Build relationships with relevant media outlets and journalists and be the main point of contact for PR relating to funding programmes 

• Work co-operatively with colleagues from the wider Comms team, Funding & Partnerships and Co-op Community & Comms teams 

• Forecast and manage the funds comms budget 

This role would suit people who have 

• Great communication skills, with the ability to write in an engaging way for different comms channels, in particular digital channels 

• Experience of working in a busy comms team in the charity sector, delivering multiple projects and campaigns at any one time 

• Experience of designing and delivering integrated comms campaigns, including internally to colleagues, with good knowledge of tools used for monitoring and evaluation 

• Experience of creating content and posting on social media channels and websites

An opportunity as arisen for an experienced marketing professional to join our team at Halton Haven Hospice.

The Hospice is looking to recruit a Marketing and Communications Manager to lead on developing our marketing strategy and to actively engage in running marketing campaigns both internally and externally at the hospice. The successful candidate will be able to build on our existing relationships with local media and our community, whilst also having the ability to shape our marketing plans for the future.

The post-holder will be responsible for managing our website and social media content, writing and co-ordinating press releases and case studies, supporting the promotion of events and appeals and working with colleagues to develop a new marketing and communications strategy.

We are looking for someone who has experience in working cross-departmentally to deliver high-quality campaigns, and who has the ability to handle emotive topics in a sensitive yet compelling manner. To deliver money and energy advice service for kidney patients struggling with their energy and water bills and other costs of living challenges. You will provide subject matter expert support within our Patient Support Services team, and will work closely with our Patient Support & Advocacy Officers to develop and grow this service in your area.

Summary
To raise awareness of the service and build strong relationships with kidney patients, professionals, and other kidney stakeholder groups in your defined geographic region.

Key responsibilities
• With support, establish the Kidney Care UK Money & Energy Advice Service in the region for patients and carers at risk of fuel poverty to access independent support on money and energy matters
• Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Money & Energy Advice Service across the region, effectively managing an ongoing caseload
• Provide practical advice to patients, assessing their needs and identifying sources of support to resolve financial, practical and psychosocial challenges.

• Activities will include creating budget plans, completing income maximisation checks and benefit claims, carrying out switching exercises and Home Energy Surveys (this is not an exclusive list of tasks)
• Responsible for identifying cases where FSA approved advice is required, and supporting patients in the referral of their case to our approved partner organisation or other appropriate regional/national services

• Kidney Care UK Patient Grants service, raising awareness of the service and supporting applications

To raise awareness of the service and build strong relationships with kidney patients, professionals, and other kidney stakeholder groups in your defined geographic region.

Key responsibilities
• With support, establish the Kidney Care UK Money & Energy Advice Service in the region for patients and carers at risk of fuel poverty to access independent support on money and energy matters
• Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the Money & Energy Advice Service across the region, effectively managing an ongoing caseload
• Provide practical advice to patients, assessing their needs and identifying sources of support to resolve financial, practical and psychosocial challenges.

• Activities will include creating budget plans, completing income maximisation checks and benefit claims, carrying out switching exercises and Home Energy Surveys (this is not an exclusive list of tasks)
• Responsible for identifying cases where FSA approved advice is required, and supporting patients in the referral of their case to our approved partner organisation or other appropriate regional/national services

• Act as a gateway to local information and access to:

• Kidney Care UK Patient Grants service, raising awareness of the service and supporting applications
• Kidney Care UK Patient Support & Advocacy Service, to ensure patients have access to reliable and accurate patient information relating to kidney disease, patient pathways, models of care, and patient choice
• Kidney Care UK Counselling Service and other appropriate services to meet patients’ emotional and physiological needs

• Work closely with local Kidney Care UK Patient Support & Advocacy Officers to ensure that patients receive expert advice in all areas of need, with smooth, effective handovers ensuring that patients feel supported and part of the Kidney Care UK ‘family’ at all times
• Maintain records on the Kidney Care UK database to support service delivery and communications with patients, and facility effective reporting to Kidney Care UK and our funders
• Raise awareness of Kidney Care UK and the benefit of its full range of Patient Support Services amongst kidney patients, their families, carers and professionals across the region
• Provide insight on patients’ concerns and unmet needs to inform Kidney Care UK research, campaigns, and new service development activity
• Work in a way that respects the personal, social, cultural and spiritual needs of the individual and maintains the confidentiality of information they may have shared with you

Position: Communications Lead

Based: Flexibly from home and our corporate headquarters in Kingston upon Thames

Your Hours of work: Will be part-time based initially on 22 hours per week

Salary: £34,818 per annum paid pro rata based on a 22 hour working week.

Main Responsibilities of the Job

• Generate (or work with our managers to generate) engaging and accessible content for the charity across a range of digital and social media platforms.
• Lead on the collection and development of stories, as well as other content showcasing the quality of our work and its impact for those using our services.
• Work with colleagues to plan and coordinate communications around key milestones, launches, campaigns and events.
• Coordinate general communications and engagement planning with corporate and operational managers.
• Support the development and implementation of a communications and influencing plan as part of the charity’ corporate planning and strategic review process.
• Work closely with the charity’s corporate leadership to align messaging and communications activity across the business to help shape our working culture and values-based approach.
• Create compelling stories about what the charity does and the difference it makes in the lives of people who benefit from its services.

Analysis and data interpretation

• Provide overview and reporting on performance analytics related to the charity’s digital and social media outputs. Particularly against any benchmarks set at the commencement of any given financial year.
• Identify opportunities and development priorities for targeted and/or generic media output against any valuation of our performance metrics as reported above.
• Provide access and guidance on analytics and data metrics for departmental managers and leads to help shape future messaging and content generation.

Development Support

• To work closely with the charity’s leadership, its managers and operational leads in shaping our communications messaging and output.
• To design training and support to grow internal capacity across the charity in how to get the best out of our communications and social media tools.
• Monitor departmental social media and communications output and help shape their approaches to messaging what their services do and to whom.
• Develop plans, campaigns and promotional activity based on an understanding of the charity’s values, it target audiences and its strategic priorities for growth and sustainability.
