This bespoke service enables young people with autistic spectrum conditions, learning disabilities and complex needs to lead fulfilling, happy and rewarding lives within high quality community-based settings. The group of services you will be managing comprises of this new supported living service for young people, an existing supported living service for adults with learning disabilities, a community café and Creativities our sessional day service.

This is an exciting and varied role in which you will lead an existing skilled and motivated team.

You will be responsible for leading the delivery of care and support to people living within the service and those accessing the café and sessional support service. You will be an experienced learning disability/autism practitioner with the ability to develop structured programmes of communication, personalised support and positive behaviour management. You will work closely with families and other professionals and will have the ability to supervise and mentor a staff team. You will help to deliver consistent, person-centred services which meet the needs and preferences of individuals.

In Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire, the MHSTs are run as a partnership between OTR and NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (AWP CAMHS). This partnership makes our MHST unique, creative, and responsive to the needs of the diverse communities we work in.

Team Coordinators will assist MHST Team Managers and Clinical Leads in the operational management of Mental Health Support Teams by providing high quality support to staff members and supporting initiatives to develop our workforce.

Here at Vision North Somerset, we support people who are visually and/or hearing impaired across North Somerset.  With around 1,500 people affected by sight loss and/or hearing loss in our county, we offer a range of support services to enable people to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Information, advice and guidance:

• Work one-on-one with adults and children with a visual impairment and their carers/ families, providing a comprehensive initial assessment in a person-centred, empathetic, and empowering manner.
• Provide internal and external referrals and deliver follow-up actions to enable maximum wellbeing for service users.
• Manage incoming and outgoing referrals internally and with a wide range of external providers, communicating promptly to manage cases effectively and safely.
• Work closely with team members and volunteers to collate and send Information Packs and other necessary communications such as appointment letters in accessible formats.
• Assess risks as needed and report any safeguarding concerns to the Safeguarding Lead.

Equipment:

• Be aware of and able demonstrate and advise on equipment for people with a visual impairment when needed and/or refer to other services.
• If needed during home/ care home visits, provide minor adaptations such as high visibility tape on steps or tactile markings on appliances.

Data management:

• Ensure that all service delivery to individuals and service user data is promptly and appropriately recorded and managed on the Vision North Somerset database, in accordance with procedures.
• Work with team members and volunteers to maintain accuracy of the Vision North Somerset service user database, including collecting data permissions and equality monitoring information from service users during visits.

Local networking and knowledge:

• Develop and maintain knowledge and resources on relevant services offered by organisations to people in North Somerset. Work with the Administrator to maintain records on online files and paper files (for example service leaflets).
• Occasionally attend local meetings, arrange meetings with staff from key local organisations or represent Vision North Somerset to develop mutual knowledge of local services. 

Working as part of a team (common to all Vision North Somerset job descriptions)

· Maintain effective communication and positive working relationships with Vision North Somerset staff (and volunteers if appropriate).

· Ensure that other staff understand your role and that you work cooperatively with good communication.

· Maintain awareness of and follow our policies and processes.

· Undertake regular supervision meetings and training in topics such as: accessible information, safeguarding, health and safety, data protection, equality, diversity, and inclusion.

· Assist in the planning and improving of the delivery of service improvement and participate positively in the implementation of new working methods and practices as required.

· Be an excellent ambassador for the charity.

· Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties.

As the Individual Giving Fundraising Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of our Individual Giving strategy, placing donors at the heart of everything you do.

With a strong focus on both acquisition and retention, you will design and implement engaging campaigns across a range of income streams, including Direct Mail, Regular Giving, Lottery, Legacy, and In-Memory giving, line managing a small team of Fundraising Officers.

Working closely with other Fundraising Managers, you will contribute to delivering the departmental strategy, meeting income targets, and managing budgets effectively.

You will also take the lead on key fundraising projects, promoting a collaborative culture both within the team and across departments.

A key aspect of the role involves partnering with the Marketing and Engagement teams to strengthen digital fundraising and donor acquisition strategies, ensuring a joined-up and impactful supporter journey.

Job Purpose

The Public Affairs Lead sits within our Policy and Advocacy Team, working to build support for The Food Foundation’s work amongst Parliamentarians and to influence the government to help deliver policies that will transform the food system.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a small organisation delivering big impact on the political agenda around food. 

The Public Affairs Manager reports to our Head of Policy and Advocacy and will be responsible for planning and delivering our public affairs activity. You will spend considerable time meeting MPs and Peers in parliament and building relationships with their teams with a view to identifying potential new supporters and ensuring that The Food Foundation has a range of contacts that we can call on to support and amplify our policy asks and to raise issues when required. 

While this role is focused on political engagement, you will work closely with policy and research colleagues and with our communications team to share perspectives on which priorities it may be tactical to pursue at any given time and to understand what evidence is available to inform engagement.

You will also work closely with public affairs professionals in other organisations to deliver joint programmes of engagement work which leverage respective organisational strengths.

You will have excellent political instincts and a strong interest in policy developments, monitoring closely what is going on in Parliament and in Government, and keeping abreast of the latest developments in order to identify opportune moments to maximise political attention on the issues we work on and to galvanise support for policy change. 

You will work with our communications team to build compelling narratives targeted at different political stakeholders about the impacts of the food system on our diets, our health and our planet, and the need for evidence-based solutions.   In the current parliamentary term we expect a major focus of activity to be on securing a White Paper and then A Bill on food system change.

You will lead on developing and commissioning a range of briefing materials and reports for policy audiences and formulate responses on behalf of the organisation to policy development processes and Parliamentary inquiries.

You will think creatively about methods and opportunities for engagement in order to ensure that The Food Foundation’s messages and priorities are noticed and heard by policy-makers in a very crowded policy space, including by working closely with our events manager to deliver impactful parliamentary events.

You will bring a learning mindset to the role, assessing the impact of our policy engagement approaches in order to make continuous improvements.

The role will be a fulfilling blend of planning engagement campaigns, developing the materials and monitoring tools to enable delivery, and the practical task of developing personal relationships with key stakeholders.

A week in the job will look like: meeting with a Peer that is new to our work to brief them on evidence we have published and our current political priorities, completing a political stakeholder mapping exercise for a new campaign on sustainable diets to identify a shortlist of MPs to engage with, spending an afternoon in parliament to engage informally with passing MPs, pitching a new idea for a parliamentary inquiry to parliamentary staff from the Health and Social Care Committee, drafting an MP briefing for an upcoming debate on the Government’s obesity prevention priorities, reviewing next week’s parliamentary calendar to spot opportunities for engagement, attending a roundtable to share intelligence and discuss priorities for political party manifestos with other NGOs working on food issues, ringing round parliamentary offices to confirm attendance for an upcoming parliamentary reception, meeting with an MP that is closely involved with The Food Foundation’s work to refine messaging for an upcoming campaign.

Location:  Hybrid working - Part London office-based and part home working. The post holder will work a minimum of one day a week in the office. 

Salary: £35,225 per annum

You will work on creating our Individual Giving appeals, writing compelling communications which will inspire and drive income. You should have experience of working in a charity environment, and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously to tight deadlines and budgets.

Experience required 

You’ll have previous experience of: 

• Managing direct marketing campaigns in a charity environment.

• Leading projects from start to finish within given budgets and timescales.

• Creating compelling and professional communications for a variety of audiences and channels. 

• Analysing campaign results and using insight to optimise future campaigns.

• Collaborative working with multiple internal and external partners to deliver campaigns.

About the role

The Lab is now working with Demos, a leading cross-party think tank and the Lloyds Bank Foundation on a collaborative project to celebrate community-led change across the country. The project will seek: (1) to connect an array of brilliant organisations creating new forms of public services and (2) write a narrative that puts this community-led innovation at the centre of broader efforts at rethinking how the state delivers for its citizens. The project will work with leaders across civil society, academia and the highest levels of politics to demonstrate the potential for community-led change to generate national renewal.

We are seeking a motivated individual to take on the role of Project Network Coordinator. They will report to the Director of the UCL Policy Lab and work closely with the team. The post is fixed term for the duration of nine months either full or part time with the possibility to be extended.

The post holder will be expected to work both at UCL but also on ad hoc occasions from the offices of our partner organisation, Demos.

The salary for this role is between £36,433 and £39,807 per anum dependent on experience and includes the London Allowance.

About you

The UCL Policy Lab wishes to appoint a Project Network Coordinator to help draw together representatives of a vast array of community-based organisations currently innovating in public service reform. The Coordinator will support the project team to develop a core coalition to drive forward the work. The individual will work closely with both the UCL Policy Lab team, Demos and other project partners in the oversight and delivery of events that bring these organisations together so that they can share their experiences and expertise. The individual will also help oversee and coordinate the programme of high-level private workshops exploring the policy implications of these organisations' activities, providing extensive service support to attendees as well as supporting the project to build up a wide network of key stakeholders.

The individual will be crucial to designing and delivering a high-quality experience for the participants as well as ensuring that the dialogue builds overtime and its richness is fully captured and shared with senior stakeholders. The individual will also run the sessions and assist the Lab with both research and administrative support in the run up to the events.

The post holder will report directly to the Lab's Director but also work closely with the Policy Lab team.

The post holder must be able to work flexibly, independently and proactively.

Duties and responsibilities

• Work with Lab leadership to recruit members for a new network of community-led public service innovators from across the UK
• Support Lab and Demos leaders engagement with senior stakeholders in the national government and the opposition, as well as the local movement, to help share findings and drive political impact.
• Build relationships with the key individuals in this sector to understand their contributions and concerns and be able to share them with others
• Assist with the delivery of engaging collaborative workshops for members of this network and the project team.
• Conduct interviews with network members and draft policy briefs and memos for circulation to the broader network and the policy team.
• Track and report impact from the network for internal purposes, marketing and various evaluation processes (e.g., writing website content, newsletters and contributing to final reports)
• Work with the UCL Policy Lab team to help deliver operational support for the activities of the project, including: contributing to shared infrastructure and tools; working with the Communications and Engagement manager to deliver wider impact; working with the Team to co-ordinate delivering of world class policy events, including our party conference programme.
• Manage a front of house team at events including PhD students or equivalent on short term placements.
• Follow and promote UCL policies, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and maintain an awareness and observation of fire and health and safety regulations.

We supported 833 women and children last year, with a current income target of £1.25m (growing to £1.4m in 2026-2027) and 36 staff. You will have experience in managing counsellors and/or volunteers, providing clinical supervision, and ensuring best practice across service delivery. You will be able to oversee the full cycle of service management, including monitoring outcomes, safeguarding, and compliance, while also contributing to service development and innovation in line with our strategic priorities.
