Job Description:
Domestic Abuse Women’s Case Worker
37.5 hours per week based at Stockport Women’s Centre
Salary: £26,225 after competencies complete £28,300
Annual leave: 25 days plus statutory bank holidays
12-month Fixed term contract 12 extension subject to funding
Main Aims of the post:
- To support and work with women from Stockport who are experiencing or experienced domestic abuse which will include safety planning, risk assessment, safeguarding, case management and advocacy.
- To hold and manage a caseload, creating and monitoring personalised support plans.
- To deliver group work to women, relating to domestic abuse awareness.
- To provide a weekly drop-in session to women that are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.
- To work collaboratively with our domestic abuse partnership as well as other agencies as appropriate to the case.
- To support the Head of Service as she develops the quality standards for The Women’s Centre.
- as ongoing informal consultation to keep supervisor informed of any changes that require management decisions
- To contribute to the development of the team and to new forms of work or service.
- To maintain an up to date knowledge of and awareness of developments in public policy and legislation regarding women in the criminal justice system and related subjects.
Essential:
- Must hold a relevant qualification relating to health & social care or have equivalent work experience.
- Experience of holding a caseload and providing or arranging services appropriate to need.
- A relevant qualification or equivalent work experience
- Raised awareness of specific issues affecting women.
- Knowledge of the possible impact that women who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse may have.
- Detailed knowledge of Safeguarding Legislation specifically in relation to Child Protection and vulnerable adults
- Sound knowledge of the Assessment Process
- Experience of holding a caseload and providing or arranging services appropriate to need
- Experience of creating, recording and implementing support plans

About the Role
We're looking for highly motivated and committed individuals to provide specialist advice and representation on welfare benefits, grants and financial support, managing a caseload that includes complex cases, mandatory reconsiderations and appeals. The Money & More Benefits Caseworker supports clients across all stages of the cancer pathway, including diagnosis, treatment, palliative care and end-of-life support. You will deliver advice through a range of channels including telephone, email, digital platforms and face-to-face appointments within healthcare and community settings.
Key duties include:
· Deliver specialist welfare benefits advice and casework.
· Manage a varied caseload, including complex benefit appeals and tribunal work.
· Support clients to maximise income through benefits, grants and other financial assistance.
· Advocate and negotiate on behalf of clients with third parties.
· Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, community organisations and partner agencies.
· Maintain accurate case records and meet quality assurance standards.
· Contribute to service development, research and campaigns work.
About You
The ideal candidates will have:
· Significant experience providing welfare benefits advice and casework, including Mandatory Reconsiderations and Appeals
· A strong understanding of welfare benefits legislation and financial support available to vulnerable clients
· Experience supporting vulnerable people using a person-centred and empathetic approach
· Experience managing a caseload and achieving targets and deadlines
· A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
· A non-judgemental, empathetic approach to people
· Strong IT and digital skills, with the ability to learn new systems quickly

We have a maternity cover opportunity available in the team at MASH. As an Outreach & Engagement Worker you will provide gender and trauma-informed support to women who are rough sleeping, begging and/or sex working in Manchester.

MASH is the only organisation in Greater Manchester which exists specifically to support women who sex work. Through our range of services we build trusted relationships with women to keep them safer, healthier and more equipped to take control of their lives.
Purpose of the role
To work with other members of the MASH team to achieve the following outcomes:
- To improve women’s health
- To improve women’s wellbeing

- To enable women to identify and achieve their goals
- Women who sex work are heard, understood and experience less stigma
- Other agencies and policymakers understand the needs of women who sex work and are more effective at supporting them
Using a gender and trauma-informed approach, the Outreach & Engagement Worker will deliver 2-4 daytime outreach sessions per week in Manchester alongside partners, colleagues and volunteers. They will also attend the Street Engagement Hub weekly to provide specialist support to women attending this multi-agency hub. They will provide brief interventions and casework support to women supporting their needs holistically.
