Location: Office based role with frequent regional travel as required

Salary Range: £24,000 - £26,000 DOE 

Full Time: 37.5 hours per week

Reporting to: Charity CEO 

Job overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Event Fundraising Officer to join Sheffield Hospitals Charity. The purpose of this role is to shape and lead on a portfolio of events for the charity to ensure that income is maximised from this important income stream. In addition to raising awareness of the charity within the wider South Yorkshire Area. 

The events fundraiser will report directly to the charity CEO and work alongside our existing fundraising team. Experience of working in a fundraising events role and delivering complex events is desirable. The essential skills needed for this role include; having drive, energy and ambition; possessing excellent communications skills; being able to plan and organise effectively; and manage multiple activities concurrently.

Main duties of the job:

  • To lead the development and delivery of the events fundraising strategy and the events portfolio.
  • Implement and continually review and evaluate the success of the Events portfolio with the charity CEO to achieve maximum income from events in the portfolio.
  • Deliver the proposed programme of events on budget and to timescales, ensuring detailed work plans are devised and accurate records on suppliers, supporters and data are kept on the fundraising database and electronic filing systems.
  • Agree and set event fundraising objectives, which support the overall strategy and form part of the central fundraising objectives
  • Be the go to person for events and to act as the point of reference for the charity in all of these activities. 
  • Regularly review performance against targets and budgets and take corrective action where required.
  • Liaise with the communications department and external agencies in relation to the production of relevant PR and materials to support the successful promotion of events.
  • Ensure accurate records of supporters, projects and events are kept, using the fundraising Harlequin CRM data-base.
  • To be responsible for developing internal and external relationships and representing the charity at different levels.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with both new and existing supporters.
  • Work with the Charity Head of Corporate Partnerships to maximise the potential of any corporate involvement in the events strategy, including securing corporate sponsorship of events where appropriate.
  • Develop relationships with peers in other organisations to keep abreast of new developments in the fundraising arena, ensuring there is innovation in the events offering.
  • In conjunction with the Communications Team develop and implement a marketing and PR strategy for all the events in the portfolio to maximise ticket sales and income.
  • Liaise with the communications department and external agencies in relation to the production of relevant materials to support the successful promotion of events
  • Attend internal and external meetings, as required.
  • To carry out any duties within the general scope of the post, as required.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends at events and meetings, as required
