Brent Mencap has been passionate about a healthier and fairer Brent since 1979. We’ve developed and run successful housing, employment, health, advice, wellbeing and self-advocacy services. During austerity and Covid we diversified, successfully taking on NHS work with people with long-term health conditions. We provide social prescribing support and health and wellbeing coaching to patients for Brent GPs. In 2024-5 we helped over 18000 people. We’re a leading partner on the Brent Health Educators Programme. Recently we’ve focused on developing and retaining a much larger staff group, using our data better and improving our marketing.

Brent Mencap offers fantastic free creative and wellbeing activities for people with a learning disability, autism and long-term health conditions. These have flourished since Covid. People love yoga, poetry, singing, gardening, Breathe and Move, self-advocacy, campaigning, awareness raising, CREATE art activities for young people, external trips and parties. Small grants, donations and our reserves fund this while we get longer term funding. Our self-advocates want us to focus on paid employment, youth services and making Brent Council use accessible information properly. People with a learning disability, neurodiversity and their family carers are inclusively supported by social prescribers for advice and by health educators/coaches for health-related matters if needed.

Our current Executive Director, who has led Brent Mencap so well for 25 years wants to retire. The successful candidate will build on Brent Mencap’s history, current success and potential so our long-term passion for a healthier and fairer Brent can evolve and improve the lives of Brent People. Job overview 

The Executive Assistant will be responsible for providing excellent, detailed and proactive administrative support to the Chief Executive. This includes diary management, event management, travel logistics and email management.  The post holder will also need to prepare presentations and carry out research as required.  It also includes liaison with Trustees, providing effective governance support to the Chair of Trustees, and for Council and Committee Meetings. The post requires a high degree of personal judgement about how to support the Chief Executive’s schedule and liaison with the Chair and Board of Trustees. This role plays an important and proactive role in ensuring the CE can use their time effectively to meet the demands of their role.

Job responsibilities 

Chief Executive’s Office Management 

• To manage the CE’s office and assist with governance and administrative duties. 

• To act as the first point of contact for internal and external queries and monitoring and drafting correspondence coming to the Chief Executive’s office by phone, email and post.  Anticipate issues, assess priorities, and arrange appropriate responses. 

• Manage the Chief Executive’s diary and time, attendance at meeting and events, reservations, online access where appropriate and meeting preparation. 

• Organise travel and accommodation for Chief Executive and Members of the Trustee board as required. 

• All Governance Meeting arrangements including preparation and distribution of meeting papers, recording meeting and production of accurate minutes. 

• Manage an efficient filing system (electronic and paper-based) 

• Co-ordinate Senior Leadership Team meetings schedule and support these meetings, taking minutes, recording decisions and the circulation of relevant internal communications arising from SLT meetings. 

• Liaise with a wide range of contacts on behalf of the Chief Executive. 

• Organise all CE visitor arrangements ensuring HCP requirements are met. 

• To ensure all correspondence with key individuals is linked to RSN database. 

• To assist Chair and Trustee board on projects as required. 

• To undertake other projects for the CE as required taking full project management responsibility. 

Other 

• Be first point of contact for donations to RSN, ensuring donations are directed and lodged appropriately in consultation with the RSN Curator. 

• To undertake administrative matters required for smooth running of the organisation, including ordering of office supplies and collection of post.

• Organisation of a variety of staff events throughout the year including the annual Christmas Celebration.

CEO Role Summary:

The CEO provides strategic leadership, ensuring high-quality inclusive arts provision whilst overseeing operations, staff, fundraising, compliance and partnerships. They act as the organisation’s ambassador and contribute to the planning and delivery of both our charitable and business orientated objectives, reporting directly to the Board of Trustees.

The role

Effective financial management is central to our strategy and operating model. The Finance Manager will be crucial in determining how we manage our finances, resources and operations whilst embedding a culture of financial efficiency and effective controls.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Finance will lead on financial matters and be expected to provide critical financial information, insightful analysis and timely reporting to facilitate the growth of the Charity.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic team administrator to join our small, friendly and relaxed team at SCONUL, the professional association for academic and research libraries. The team currently works one to two days a week from our modern offices close to Euston station and the remainder of the week from home. 

You will be responsible for providing administrative support across all aspects of the organisation’s work, including diary management, the organisation of meetings and supporting the delivery of the SCONUL Access Scheme. It’s a role that provides scope for autonomy and to become involved in the full range of the organisation’s work and to develop a broad set of skills.

  • providing SCONUL Access contacts with timely and relevant information about the scheme

  • drafting changes to website content to reflect the scheme’s current practice and procedures.

This is an exciting time to join Girls Not Brides as we are currently in the process of reviewing our strategy for the next 5 years. The Senior Officer- Executive Office plays a vital role in providing high-level strategic, operational and administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer. This position is central to the smooth functioning of the CEO’s office, enabling the CEO to focus on leading the organisation effectively and with impact. The ideal candidate will be proactive, exceptionally organised, discreet, and able to anticipate needs in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

In addition to supporting the CEO directly, the Senior Officer- Executive Office will also play a key role in facilitating the CEO’s engagement with the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees. This includes contributing to strategic planning, project coordination, internal communications, and leadership governance processes.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a Senior Officer- Executive Office with strong experience supporting CEOs, senior leaders and Boards. You will be proactive and independent: an instinctive problem-solver with experience in designing and deploying easy-to-use systems and processes to support effective communication and project delivery within and beyond senior leadership, the Board, and wider team members.

You will support leadership to prioritise projects and tasks in a complex, fast-paced environment.  This role requires sound judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic and Project Management

• Assist the CEO in tracking strategic priorities and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Support key projects or initiatives driven by the CEO and the SLT office, including special assignments or donor/stakeholder engagement for example supporting development and coordination of end child marriage Global leaders Forum.
• Provide oversight of internal and external communications requiring the CEO's input or signature.

External Engagement and Relationship Management

• Work closely with the External Engagement team to support and enhance the CEO’s external profile, including media, public appearances, keynotes, and thought leadership opportunities.
• Manage and update the CEO’s social media handles (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter/X), in coordination with the Communications team, to reflect the strategic positioning of the organisation.
• Monitor media and public engagement metrics related to the CEO and propose content ideas aligned with organisational goals.
• Represent the CEO’s office in internal and external engagements with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Support the CEO’s participation in global forums, strategic partnerships, and high-level convenings.

Governance and Leadership Coordination

• In close collaboration with the Director of Operations and Finance, support the Board recruitment process, including conducting due diligence, managing conflict of interest declarations, and ensuring robust compliance and documentation.
• Lead the planning and coordination of induction and onboarding for new Board members, including the facilitation of any required training such as safeguarding, governance responsibilities, and organisational policies.
• Support the review and update of the organisation’s Articles of Association, working in liaison with legal counsel to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with organisational priorities
• Liaise with SLT members to ensure the effective delivery of Board and Committee meetings, including preparing high-quality papers and presentations, maintaining records, tracking actions, and supporting timely follow-up.
• Provide executive support to the CEO, including coordinating AMT, SLT and Board meetings, minute-taking, managing follow-ups, and ensuring team-wide communication flows smoothly.

Executive Support

• Act as both a gatekeeper and gateway to the CEO, exercising sound judgment in managing access and prioritising engagements, while nurturing trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment, efficiency, and strategic connectivity.
• Ensure the CEO is well-prepared for meetings by providing timely and accurate briefings, agendas,  relevant materials.
• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to coordinate meetings, events, and engagements involving the CEO.
• Manage the CEO’s global travel, events and calendars.
• Manage CEO expenses and budget-related documentation and ensure accurate financial tracking for the CEO’s office.

Internal communications

• Lead on the delivery of internal communications to all team members, gathering inputs and updates from all teams and producing a regular internal staff newsletter

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 Essential experience

• A minimum of 7 years extensive professional experience in a similar role working directly with a high-performing leadership team and Board.
• Significant experience managing Board and governance processes, documentation, and communication flows.
• Strong track record in internal communications processes for diverse, multi-cultural teams.
• Advanced level in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

JUSTICE is looking to recruit an Interim Head of Governance and Operations to join our friendly, values-led team. This is a fixed term post for 12 months (maternity cover) and provides an exciting opportunity for someone who has experience of governance and operational management. 

We are looking for an individual who has an interest in the purpose of the charity (to improve the UK justice system so that it is fair and within everyone’s reach), as well as a keen interest in taking responsibility for a diverse and wide range of tasks from providing and overseeing the secretariat functions related to our governance and risk as well as leading in important cross-cutting areas such as audit, budget management and providing HR support. This role will really suit someone who enjoys working with people, is comfortable with a degree of autonomy and who thrives in a role where no two days are the same. 

This role plays a central role in the workings of the organisation including with our Policy Team, our Comms Team and our Development Team. They also join Senior Management Team meetings and all Board and Committee meetings. The role currently line manages one direct report but this may be increased to two and reports into and works closely with the Chief Executive. This role also leads on the relationships with our accountants (who deliver our financial management and accounting functions) and other external contractors. 

JUSTICE is a law reform and human rights organisation, working to improve processes and policies to support everyone, particularly marginalised groups, be able to seek justice or a remedy when their rights have been breached or the law has been broken. We also seek to improve the justice system as a whole, ensuring that laws are clear and consistent and that the government and other key decisionmakers are held to account.
