The organisation:
Arts Emergency helps young people flourish in higher education and the cultural industries. The organisation currently runs mentoring projects in London, Brighton, Manchester, and Merseyside. Network members offer crucial gateways into hard to crack industries like TV, publishing and architecture. The charity believes that for our society to be fair and kind, every young person should have the chance to contribute to the culture they live in. Class, ethnicity and disability are still major barriers to young people gaining entry to the creative industries. That’s why they’re dedicated to levelling the playing field within the arts and humanities: supporting young people who don’t have the personal networks and insider knowledge that are vital for getting in.
Since 2013, Arts Emergency has opened up hundreds of opportunities across the creative sectors and now supports over 1,300 young people. They do this by providing local mentoring to the young people who need it most; sharing high quality opportunities and experiences in the cultural industries with them; and acting as a trusted and accessible resource to help them to make the right choices about higher education and careers; and influencing “gatekeepers” to address the inequalities that shut out talented voices from UK culture.
The opportunity:
After a successful tenure the founding Chair is now moving on and we’re looking for a new Chair to join them. Arts Emergency is keen to speak to people who have lived experience. It's important that you understand first-hand the barriers faced by young people from underrepresented backgrounds to forge a career in the arts. You will be a figurehead for the organisation – an inspiration and a role model for the young people we work with.
The Chair should be an influential changemaker and advocate, who can promote Arts Emergency’s commitment to social justice. You’ll use your experience working within the creative and arts industries to help more young people find their part to play. We’re looking for someone who can work effectively alongside the CEO and other Board members to realise their vision. You’ll be passionate about supporting young people to realise their potential and creating a creative culture that’s inclusive for all.
The Person:
You will bring your leadership experience from the creative arts world. You don’t need prior chairing experience, but if you have experience of bringing people together to make change, we’d love to hear about it. We’re looking for someone who can work collaboratively with their fellow Trustees; someone who can work effectively alongside the CEO and help him realise the organisation’s vision to support a new generation creating an arts industry culture that represents all.
If you have the skills, experience and determination to help more young people really shine and want to make a lasting difference we want to hear from you!

Welcome and Congratulations. By getting as far as reading this you have already displayed great judgement- we like you already!
We are really excited about these 3 new Trustee roles. Access Social Care is only 2 years old but we have already built a strong and positive culture on our board. Our skilled Chairperson has been careful to create an environment where everyone’s views are valued. Trust is high. The CEO and the Executive team welcome the Board’s positive challenge.
As an organisation we are proud that we have taken great strides in ensuring that our organisational impact reaches underserved communities with experience of disadvantage. But over the last 6 months, we have taken a good look at ourselves, and we know that we need to do better to ensure that our Board reflects the communities that we serve.
We have made progress in the last year, exploring how we can be more inclusive within our organisation. We have worked on shared language and started to build an environment for people to hold tricky conversations about the things that matter. We have created new network groups, and agreed programmes of work to promote Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. We have increased training and awareness. We have successfully recruited more people of colour to our staff team, and we are soon to introduce two-way mentoring so that the Board and staff at all levels can learn from each other. As an organisation we are striving to be anti-racist.
At Access Social care, we aren’t interested in tokenism. We know that if we are to make the biggest difference for the people that need us the most, we need to get Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and anti-racism right. Part of this is recruiting greater diversity to our board.
Together we have agreed that the skills we are missing on our board relate to:
- Experience of the social care system and experience of the diverse communities we serve
- Data and technology
- Policy and Strategic Communications
- Human Resources and People Culture
As a trustee you will be part of an organisation that is working to improve the lives of older and disabled people with social care needs. You will get to work with a passionate team, you will benefit from the support of your colleagues on the Board, and you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in areas you are interested in, including Governance, Finance and Strategy.
If this sounds like you, go on… go for it – apply to be a trustee with us!

Trustee role description & job specification
Accountable to: Chairperson
Location: UK - board meetings are currently being held remotely.
Type: PT
Hours: Circa 2 away days and ten 2-hour meetings per year plus preparation time
Salary: Voluntary role, expenses paid.
Why Access Social Care Exists
Everyday millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us, we will all need social care at some point.
We all have a right to hold public bodies to account. But most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 92% drop in legal aid cases since 2010 means we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken.
What we do
Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it.
With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers and barristers ensure fair access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded, and we all get the support we need.

Alongside offering professional support for our members, we also regulate practitioners and promote access to psychotherapy for all. This is an exciting time to join UKCP as we embark on a refreshed strategic plan with drive and ambition.
As a lay person, you will play a lead role to ensure ethics is at the heart of our work by engaging closely with colleagues and members across the organisation. In the first instance you will review UKCP’s Ethics Committee arrangements and then working collaboratively you will galvanise the creation and dissemination of ethics statements and policies.
Ideally you will have a background in ethical and regulatory frameworks, experience of chairing committees and leading groups, and excellent interpersonal skills. You can find out more about the role in the Ethics Lead Information Pack or by contacting Gabi Wisurova.
Closing date is 9am 1 June 2022.
Provisional interview date: Monday 27 June 2022.

The incoming Director of Safety4Sisters will provide strategic direction, be a motivating and inclusive leader, and effectively campaign for policy change at a local, regional and national level. This is an exciting time to lead our small but committed and dynamic organisation and to take overall responsibility of the management of the charity, with full support from the senior management team and trustee board.
In the last few years, Safety4Sisters have experienced rapid growth and diversification of our services, as well as achieving charitable status. We are currently looking at our strategic priorities and our organisational structure to ensure that we are able to meet the needs of the women and children that we support, as well as campaign for their rights, for as long as we’re needed. The incoming Director will have a key role to play in navigating this next phase of our work by building a long-term vision for S4S – as well as putting it into action.
We think it is crucially important that our staff team reflects the diversity of the women that we support. In our recruitment to this role we are therefore actively prioritising women who are from racialised and minoritised communities and/or who have lived experience of going through the UK immigration system.
To apply to this role, please send an up-to-date CV and cover letter (no more than two sides of A4), tailored to the person specification and job description. Please clearly outline how you meet the person specification to ensure the greatest chance of being invited to interview.
If you would like an informal discussion about this role, please arrange a time to discuss the role with our Chair of trustees, Lynne Fanthome. Further details about how you can contact Lynne are available on the attached document.
The deadline for application to this role is 5pm on Monday 20th June.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, engaging, and inclusive leader to
join us as Chief Executive at Keep Wales Tidy.
After completing many years’ service, the current head of our organisation is retiring. As we begin our 50th anniversary celebrations, we are looking for an inspirational leader to help us build on our achievements and cement our reputation as a leading environmental charity.
Reporting to the Chair of our Board, you will work closely with our Trustees and executive management team to provide clear, strategic direction. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of more than 70 committed and passionate individuals, nurturing an innovative and supportive culture.
The quality of our local environment, our green spaces, waterways, beaches, and the air that we breathe is essential to protecting biodiversity for the future and building our resilience to the global climate emergency.
Through our programmes and projects, Keep Wales Tidy has set the stage for working together with government, public bodies, schools, and local communities to take positive sustainable action. National initiatives like Caru Cymru and Local Places for Nature have opened up opportunities to engage communities across Wales, with long term benefits for our health, well-being and natural environment; while international programmes such as Eco-Schools have enabled us to share our learning with global partners.
Do you have the qualities, skills and experience to lead an ambitious and trusted charity? If you share our vision of a beautiful Wales cared for and enjoyed by everyone, we would love to receive your application to join us.
