Reducing the Risk is an Oxfordshire-based charity. We work locally, regionally and nationally to empower professionals, volunteers and communities who support survivors of domestic abuse.
We are seeking a Company Secretary to join our Board and help support the safety of adults and children at risk of domestic abuse.
What will you be doing?
As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Company Secretary involves a number of administrative duties to support the Board.
You will support the Chair and Board of Trustees to ensure compliance with charity and regulatory requirements, while helping maintain effective governance and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaising with the Chair and Trustees in arranging meetings, agendas and papers, taking minutes and administration of meetings and record keeping.
- Ensure the Board is aware of its responsibilities in respect of the legal and regulatory requirements of governing documents, charity law, company law, etc.
- Manage and facilitate the induction and training of new Trustees.
- Coordinate and organise other meetings as required, such as AGMs and EGMs.
- Ensure compliance with charity regulations and governance standards.
- Maintaining the register of members, Trustees, directors, and secretaries.
- Preparing and filing annual returns and other statutory documents with Companies House (and the relevant charity regulator).
Time Commitment & Location
Hybrid working available. When the Board meet in person we meet in Barton, Oxford. Average time commitment is 2 days a month. Which includes: Quarterly Board meetings, pre meeting a week before, AGM once a year.
What are we looking for?
- Previous Company Secretary experience is desirable.
- Excellent written skills with an eye for detail.
- An understanding of the charity sector and its governance.
- Trustee experience or the willingness to gain an understanding of the relevant charity and company regulations.

Role Overview
The Chapter President is responsible for the overall management, development, and compliance of their Chapter. You will lead the committee, coordinate activities, and act as the main link between your Chapter and the national Board of Trustees.

Key Responsibilities
- Local Leadership
- Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the Chapter and support committee members in their roles.
- Provide direction, guidance, and oversight across volunteer recruitment, events, fundraisers, and costume management.
- Chair committee meetings and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
- Identify when committee members need support and step in with advice, delegation, or hands‑on help.
- Complete and maintain the Chapter Development Plan and work towards improving Chapter performance each year.
- Ensure all activities comply with the charity’s constitution, handbook, and legal requirements.
National Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact between your Chapter and the Board of Trustees.
- Submit a monthly report on Chapter progress, challenges, and key decisions.
- Attend the monthly Charity Leadership Meeting to share updates and contribute to national planning.
- Implement national guidance and changes communicated by Trustees.
- Manage your Chapter’s allocated budget and support fundraising targets.
- Ensure all required paperwork is kept up‑to‑date, including logs, finances, and post‑event forms.
