Job description

Inclusive Boards is delighted to be supporting Groundwork Wales in their search for their next Chair of Trustees.

About Groundwork Wales

Our charity exists to create a greener, fairer & stronger future for all people, communities and places in Wales. Groundwork is working across Wales to create stronger, healthier communities, responsible business and greater prospects for local people.

This is a challenging time for society, but a hugely exciting time for our organisation. Groundwork’s origins lie in the economic recession of the 1970s and the first Groundwork organisation was established as a radical experiment in bringing together public and private resources to support communities to tackle social and environmental challenges in tandem.

About the Opportunity

Groundwork Wales is seeking a new Chair of Trustees to provide leadership to the charity and its Board, ensuring that the Charity has maximum impact for its beneficiaries.

The Chair performs in a strategic rather than operational role, and holds the Board and Executive Director to account for the Charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. The Chair will also line manage and support, and, where appropriate, challenge the Chief Executive and ensure that the Board functions as a unit and to achieve agreed objectives. They will act as an ambassador and the public face of the charity in partnership with the Chief Executive.
