About the Role

Through our range of programmes, we work to inspire and empower young people, whatever their background to succeed in work and life. A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to manage the delivery of our EDI programmes and have a real impact on the participation of underrepresented groups in our programmes, as well as building on our established position within the skills sector.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing, managing and evaluating senior stakeholder relationships with external networks. With a proven track record of consistently delivering projects and programmes with high-quality results, the successful candidate will have up to date ED&I knowledge and demonstrable experience of raising the profile of an organisation within this setting.  The candidate will be experienced in development of programmes and partnerships to suit delivery of strategic objectives, and be able to project manage internal colleagues to deliver against set KPIs.

Role purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead, develop and deliver WorldSkills UK’s external Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) programmes supported by stakeholder engagement strategies across our network of industry, education and government. The role will ensure that we engage external stakeholders to help deliver our ambition to be a leader, partner and ally in creating positive change for ED&I in the skills sector.

Key tasks and responsibilities

1. Deliver positive action activity for change:

• Support the development and delivery of WorldSkills UK’s external ED&I strategy. Ensure it is fit for purpose, has recognised long term goals and will deliver measurable change, reflecting organisational priorities around increased engagement with ethnic minority groups and females. Provide an overarching framework and help further develop strategic KPIs for our ED&I work, ensuring effective use of data, monitoring progress and performance.
• Work with the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager to develop action plans that will drive our continuous improvement:
  • Support our skills competition development programmes to increase the diversity of young people engaged
  • Support the development of role models to showcase the impact of our work and encourage diversity in key areas of industry, including future priority skill areas
  • Support the development of learning resources that aid engagement with underrepresented groups
  • Support teams to ensure ED&I matters are considered and addressed as key components of all strategies, plans and programmes.

2. Manage the ED&I Advisory Group:

• This is a unique opportunity to work with experienced and prominent senior individuals from across education and industry who are invested in driving the agenda for ED&I.
• Lead the administration and ongoing development of our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.
• Engage the Group to help support, advise and challenge WorldSkills UK on its actions to remove obstacles and barriers faced by young people from under-represented backgrounds in our programmes.
• Report regularly to the Group on progress against KPI’s and facilitate reports for the WorldSkills UK Board.

3. Project Manage the ED&I Heroes Awards

• The Awards is an established flagship event which provides a platform for WorldSkills UK to celebrate success with its partners, amplify best practice and inspire others to drive change across the skills systems in education and business.
• Project manage delivery of the annual Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Heroes Awards, supported by relevant internal teams
  • Establish the nominations process
  • Co-ordinate the judging panel
  • Organise the awards ceremony
  • Manage the support of the awards partners.

4. Manage strategic relationships

• Manage a portfolio of ED&I focused Strategic Partnerships with organisations from across the skills sector, facilitating their support and engagement with our EDI programmes.
• Grow our network of partners to widen our reach, help further drive work in this area and collectively impact on the sector.
• Advise and support the development of the CEO’s international activities on ED&I with WorldSkills International (WSI).

5. Raise the profile of WorldSkills UK’s ED&I work:

• Work with teams across the organisation to support our Mission to ignite a national and global movement to help more young people, regardless of their background, get the best possible start in work and life.
• Support the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager and Marketing and Communications Team to showcase the impact of our programmes:
  • Help to externally profile and articulate the value and impact of our activities using the channels and tools available
  • Seek opportunities to advocate for our work through stakeholder engagement and networking
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships team to identify and secure commercial income related to our ED&I initiatives.
  • Work across the organisation to build on existing external relationships and develop new strategic partnerships that reinforce our position as a skills sector leader.

6. Internal ED&I Liaison:

• Whilst not responsible for WorldSkills UK’s internal ED&I activities and agenda it is anticipated that the post holder will spend up to 10% of their time supporting and working with the Corporate Affairs team on internal ED&I matters, with the remaining 90% spent on external work.
• It is not essential that the postholder has extensive experience in this area.

7. General

In addition to the key tasks and responsibilities set out above, all employees at this level are expected to:

• Produce requirement specifications in line with WorldSkills UK’s procurement strategies for all outsourced activity.
• Maintain WorldSkills UK’s established management policies for dealing with risks and issues for the Corporate Partnerships team and the wider organisation.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of WorldSkills UK’s strategic priorities and annual business objectives.

This role is office based (as above) but with flexible hybrid working. It is expected the postholder will attend the office at least once or twice a week.

Full time working hours are a minimum of 35 hours per week, normal working hours are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday although we pride ourselves on having a flexible approach to our working practices and service delivery and are happy to discuss flexible working options, including part time, with suitable candidates.

25 days’ annual leave [which will increase by one additional day for each completed year of service up to a maximum of 30 days] plus public and bank holidays.

The fundraising team raise approximately £400K annually and aspiring to grow by over half a million by 2025. You will be responsible for leading and growing income via the charities Corporate Partnerships and Sporting Challenges. The ideal candidate will have high-level experience in corporate fundraising.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide excellent account management to some of the charities existing and new corporate relationships.

• Actively participate in team meetings.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have:

• A proven track record of successfully managing a charity’s corporate partnerships and sporting challenges.
• Good knowledge of the principals of customer service/supporter care and donor development.
• Sound knowledge of GDPR and the impact on fundraising in terms of on-going consent and deletions of donors.
• Significant experience of working within a charity in a similar fundraising role.
• Experience of developing new fundraising products and building a programme of engagement to grow fundraising income.
• Experience of managing events, preferably sporting challenge events.

We receive no government funding and it is only thanks to the generosity of our supporters that vital life changing, life-saving neurological research can be funded.

We are a well-established charity that has recently launched a new strategy to accelerate the progress and funding of neurological research.  This is a new role.  As a small and ambitious charity, we are seeking someone who is keen to join a small growing team and develop their skills and career within a vibrant, positive organisation.

The role

Reporting to the Events and Community Fundraising Manager, you will play a key role as part of the Fundraising Team by providing the highest levels of fundraising and event administration support to ensure the provision of seamless, excellent supporter care and assistance to our supporters.  Specific fundraising streams will include, but not be limited to, London Marathon, Other Runs and Challenges, Community Fundraising, Special Events and other streams as needed.

Whilst this role is primarily providing administrative and stewardship support for fundraising and event activities, there will be opportunities to be involved with all other aspects of the charity and the development of future fundraising initiatives and events.

The successful candidate will need to be a good team player, able to work independently; flexible; hard working and prepared to play an enthusiastic role in helping to deliver excellent supporter care and increased fundraising income. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

In this position you will:

· Be a primary contact point for our London Marathon runners to provide excellent customer care and increase fundraising potential

· Answer general public and supporter enquiries that come in by telephone, email, social media and WhatsApp groups and mail in a way that makes them feel important and valued regardless of the nature of their enquiry

· Assist with the processing of all income (cash, cheques, online platform donations)  correctly into the Donorfy database, and thank or pass to relevant team members for thanking in a timely manner

· Record as necessary enquiries, correspondence and responses on our Donorfy database

· Be a primary point of contact for our Challenge Event fundraisers.  Build excellent relationships with them and provide materials and support, liaising before, during and following their activity/event as needed

· To work with the team to provide support for key fundraising activities such as the London Marathon and other challenge and running events.  This will include assisting with event administration, proactively making telephone calls in response to applications for places in London Marathon and to encourage fundraising, answering telephone calls, responding to emails WhatsApp and Facebook messages, thanking participants, sending materials to participants and updating records on Donorfy

· Monitoring Social Media and assisting with providing content for these channels/platforms

· Communications support: this may include contributing content for appeals, website and enewsletters and will include monitoring stewardship schedules and deadlines where needed

· Act as liaison for BRUK’s administration where needed with our fulfilment house and/or other suppliers

· Liaise with finance and/or Head of Fundraising as required

Person specification

You will be keen to develop your existing skills and to learn and absorb new skills.  You will be methodical and well–organised and provide careful attention to detail

It is essential that you have at least 12–15 months experience of working within the Third Sector in a supporter care and/or fundraising event administrative role

It is essential that you have the following skills:

· Supporter care – must be able to provide our supporters and the general public with excellent customer service both written and over the phone

· Time management – you must be able to effectively manage your time and workload

· Attention to detail -  you must be able to consistently produce accurate work

· IT literacy – you must be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and, ideally, PowerPoint

· Familiarity with the use of social media

· Experience of using a CRM database

It is desirable that you have the following skills:

· Previous experience using Donorfy CRM is an advantage

· Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices

• Keeping the website fresh and up-to-date.
• Expand visibility of the charity in the local communities where our work is based.
• Proactively explore and develop new areas of community fundraising.
• Develop an operational fundraising plan to grow regular giving.
• Undertake regular communications with donors to include newsletters, fundraising materials and updates.

In order to be successful, you must have experienced :

• In Community or challenge events fundraising
• Supporting and engaging with donors
• Developing tailored supporter journeys through email, phone and written communications
• Excellent communication skills written and oral
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Well organised with ability to successfully manage competing priorities
• Proficient in charity CRM software

Salary: £32,000 per annum

Our Events Officers work with colleagues across the Institute to deliver our range of public events, roundtables, workshops and conferences.

As part of the events team, within the wider communications team and reporting to the Head of Events, you will:

• Support the design and co-ordination of the Institute’s programme of public and private events, including panel discussions, conferences, receptions, workshops and roundtables.
• Manage all logistics and marketing for timely, professional event organisation and delivery.
• Help prepare for and deliver Institute events outside of London, including our party conference programme.
• Share management of the busy events email inbox and deal with internal and external event enquiries.
