Royal Economic Society (RES) is the professional membership body and learned society for the study and application of economics. The RES has been at the forefront of advancing economic knowledge globally since 1890 and has been foundational in building capability and excellence in the profession. With over 3,000 individual members worldwide and a dozen organizational members, we are one of the oldest economic associations in the world.  Increasingly we are focused on improving the public understanding of economics through engagement with schools and the wider public. The Partnerships Manager will play a central role in helping the RES achieve its strategic goals by developing, building and sustaining partnerships to deliver external funding. The individual will manage existing relationships, identify opportunities, lead bid writing, develop compelling funding proposals, and build relationships with funders, partners, and philanthropic donors.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising and bid development

• Identify and secure new sponsorship and partnerships opportunities to support existing RES activities
• Seek funding for new activities in line with the Society’s goals.
• Maintain and develop relationships with current and prospective partners including funding bodies, trusts and foundations, sponsors, major donors, corporates, universities and others.
• Write high-quality, persuasive funding bids and proposals, working with RES staff, trustees, and partner organisations.
• Develop cases for support, theory of change frameworks and budgets to underpin funding applications.
• Respond to calls for funding with tailored and timely applications that align with funder interests and the Society’s strategic priorities.
• Work closely with colleagues on the delivery of the funded activities, where appropriate overseeing these directly.
• Work closely with colleagues to identify priority initiatives that require external funding to proceed and maintain a clear pipeline of funding needs across the organisation.
• Develop and maintain RES group and institutional memberships.

Business Development and External Engagement

• Monitor trends in research funding, philanthropy, and corporate partnerships relevant to economics and learned societies.
• Horizon-scan and build a pipeline of future fundraising opportunities.
• Represent RES externally at funder meetings, networking events, and partnership development discussions.

Internal Collaboration and Capacity Building

• Work closely with colleagues shaping and costing funding proposals and ensure bid quality and compliance
• Provide guidance, training, and support to colleagues on funding opportunities, bid development, and funder expectations.
• Work with finance colleagues to ensure accurate invoicing, renewals, and financial forecasting.

Reporting

• Monitor performance against income and other targets and report regularly to the Chief Executive and Board.
• Prepare briefings, proposals and reports for Board and committee meetings.

Other

• Carry out any other tasks and responsibilities commensurate with the role and as reasonably requested.

Person Specification

Essential Skills

1. Proven experience of successful fundraising, bid writing or business development, preferably in a learned society, research organisation, professional body or in higher education.
2. Understanding of impact and outcomes-based funding models (e.g. theory of change), and how to align funding opportunities with organisational priorities.
3. Ability to support the development of budgets for funding bids and to track/report against income target.
4. Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write persuasive funding bids, cases for support, and briefing materials.
6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
7. Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining quality.

Desired Skills

1. Familiarity with the research, higher education, or economics funding landscape.
2. Experience of working with a variety of funders, including trusts and foundations, research councils, corporates, or major donors.
3. Experience working with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce or equivalent).
4. Understanding of how charitable governance interacts with fundraising, including experience supporting committees or preparing reports for Boards.

Blue Cross Southampton Rehoming Centre has cared for pets and supported the local community since 1988. The site provides care for dogs, cats and kittens, while our dedicated offsite team supports small pets in foster homes and through our home direct scheme.

As Centre Manager, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of the Centre – pets, people, facilities, compliance and finances. Working closely with your Assistant Managers, you’ll inspire and empower your team, embed a culture of continuous improvement and ensure the highest welfare standards.

This role is about leading people and leading change. We have a skilled, passionate team with great ideas – we now need someone who can take those forward, make things happen, and bring colleagues with them on the journey. There’s also real opportunity shape the future of the centre, including rethinking how we use our space for the most effective working environment.

The standard hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week on a locally agreed rota to include weekends and bank holidays. The standard hours are 8:30 – 5 Monday – Friday with flexibility where there is a business need.

Founded in 1991, the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) is a non-profit organisation that works with independent media and civil society to promote positive change in areas of crisis and conflict. From Ukraine to the Philippines – via the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Central Asia – we have trained tens of thousands of journalists and civil society activists and built many lasting organisations that remain independent to this day in Afghanistan, the Balkans, Africa and Asia.

THE ROLE 

The Development Manager will proactively develop programme ideas into winnable proposals and progress income from institutional donors as well as trusts and foundations. Reporting to the Global Development Director, the successful candidate will be a self-starter with the relevant experience, skills and relationships to develop a portfolio of prospects and grantmakers. You will work as part of a collaborative and friendly development team and work closely with programmes to develop new ideas and applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop new ideas for business development and submit to institutional and/or trusts & foundations as appropriate
• To work with programme teams to submit timely proposals in response to calls including proposal development and coordinating the proposal administration process
• Work closely with the programme teams to identify and respond to new opportunities for their portfolios and develop existing relationships in collaboration with IWPR programmes
• Contribute to the development team and overall organisational income targets
• Develop strategies for engaging new prospective donors – including foundations - through research
• Gather and share information on new potential funding and/or themes and contribute to the intelligence and MEL functions of IWPR with donor information and competitor mapping

To be part of the team responsible for the administration of the multi-million-pound response mode funding programme for discovery cancer research.

Reporting to the Research Funding Manager, to assist with the processing of funding applications, their review by external experts and the charity’s Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), the administration and financial management of the resulting awards.

About the role and what we’re looking for

What will you be doing?

· Supporting applicants from all over the world to bring us their new ideas in cancer research by providing guidance in a timely manner. You’ll receive and process discovery cancer research funding applications, ensuring validity and completeness.  

· Leading on the expert peer review process. You’ll identify appropriate expert reviewers to ensure that the charity receives high quality, independent review advice to inform funding decisions.

· Managing funded grants. You’ll build relationships with grantholders and process change requests to best serve the science of our funded awards.

· Working with partner organisations.  You’ll collaborate with our research partners to manage co-funded projects as well as providing funding information for internal and external purposes.

What are we looking for?

· With a higher degree in a biomedical related field, you have excellent scientific understanding of molecular and cell biology as well as a broad knowledge of cancer research.

· You have a good understanding of research funding processes, particularly peer review and conflicts of interest.

· You’re a collaborative person who works respectfully in a diverse team of experts to deliver work that makes an impact.

· As a detailed planner and organiser, you thrive on deadlines and feel confident prioritising your time across multiple, concurrent projects.

Programme Development

• Take the ownership of programme adaptation and development projects considering the differing needs of delivery across the country and allowing diversity of thought to thrive.

• Support Money Ready in engaging with young people to help develop our programmes as we move the organisation into a cocreation mindset. 

External Relations

• Establish Money Ready as the go to provider for financial education programmes in your area. Build networks that will provide Money Ready with a range of opportunities in:
• Building referrals for programme participants
• Building local influence with key stakeholders (working with our policy team) Support local fundraising (working with our fundraising team)
• Be the best ambassador for our work to all external stakeholders including young people, delivery partners, politicians, funders, the press, the wider education community, local authorities and so on.

Working across

• Money Ready Work with colleagues across the country as we continue to develop and grow the Programme & Delivery directorate and the wider organisation.
• Contribute to areas of the organisation that are ‘outside’ your immediate focus acting as trusted counsel to those in roles or teams that are different to yours.

Today, one person every two minutes is diagnosed with leprosy. It’s a disease of poverty, striking the most vulnerable. Left untreated, it causes permanent disability. Stigma means that people affected by this disease are often rejected by those closest to them and excluded from basic services. 

The Leprosy Mission Great Britain (TLMGB) is a leading international Christian development organisation with over 150 years’ experience and is part of The Leprosy Mission worldwide family. TLMGB serves the poorest of the poor in 9 countries, raising funds and developing partner capacity to provide life-changing healthcare, training and job opportunities for people who have been excluded and rejected.

Within our dynamic programmes team, you’ll be working alongside supportive colleagues who are passionate about ending leprosy and transforming lives. We have a culture of learning and growing together ensuring excellence in all we do.

You will have at least two years’ work experience in either the not for profit or research sectors and have experience of coordinating cross-team initiatives, project cycle management and donor reporting. You will have monitoring, evaluation and research skills, with the capacity to work on your own initiative and will be an excellent cross-cultural communicator.

We are particularly interested to hear from people with expertise in disability services, basic science, public health, research, quality assurance, or social enterprise development. You will serve as the liaison between TLMGB and research partners and coordinate the reporting processes, ensuring KPI data is up to date, analysed and reported on.

In addition, you will facilitate TLMGB’s knowledge production, learning and dissemination processes.

Do you have a good understanding of housing and homeless, along with leadership and management experience? Then join Shelter as a Service Manager and you could soon be playing a key role in standing up to the housing emergency in Greater Manchester.

About the role

You will be one of two Service Managers and the two postholders work closely together in this varied and complex role. Reporting to the Strategic Lead, you will deputise for them when necessary and will lead on delivering our services, line-managing Team Leaders and designated functions. Your role will be to ensure that the service delivery meets high quality standards, is delivered safely and is contract compliant, with particular focus on managing and delivering external contracts. Overseeing the monitoring and reporting of our work, you will line manage four staff, will have delegated financial responsibility and work closely with partners, commissioners, and other stakeholders in the city to ensure that our services are aligned and impactful.

You will also ensure that we are identifying and addressing the systemic issues at play and which underly clients’ presenting need. This is a key role in linking up Shelter’s national campaigning and policy work with local activity and insight, ensuring that we co-produce our activities and involve people with lived experience fully in our work.

About You

You have sound knowledge of homelessness, housing and related issues, with leadership skills and experiencing of supporting and managing teams. You can demonstrate experience of managing contracts, partnerships or services as well as budgets and are able to develop and sustain key relationships which benefit local priorities. Experienced in change management, you will be able to analyse insight and evidence to manage and improve performance, as well as being able to work with policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety and data protection.

You will be part of an existing multi-disciplinary team that offers housing and homelessness advice and support across Greater Manchester. We are made up of a solicitor led legal team providing advice and representation, along with Advice and Support services providing help with housing, debt or welfare benefit issues. There is also a committed and skilled team of volunteers that offer peer support, mentoring and more general volunteering adding significant value to our core service offer.
