The Head of Communications is a fundamental role within the Somerset Wildlife Trust.

The role is responsible for leading the development and coordinated delivery of the Trust’s communications in line with the Wilder Somerset 2030 strategy. This includes identifying key audiences, crafting core messages, and selecting effective communication channels to raise awareness and understanding of the Trust’s work. The postholder will support staff across the organisation in achieving the strategy’s aims while managing a team of specialists and responding to emerging issues professionally and astutely.

Working across teams, the Head of Communications will develop and deliver an annual communications plan that meets the organisation's priorities.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Responsibility 1: Leadership & Cross Team Working

• Strategic Planning: Lead the development of the communications delivery plan and annual calendar, involving all areas of the Trust, defining key audiences, messages and channels with the aim of increasing awareness and understanding of the Trust. Provide effective leadership and build strong working relationships with departments across the charity to ensure integrated communications plans and campaigns are developed and implemented to achieve the maximum impact with external audiences.
• Communications Delivery Plan: Effective coordination of both messages and activity – both reactive and proactive throughout the year. Including improvements with revised website navigation and architecture, SEO improvements and content targeted at priority groups, including use of video, and influencers.
• Senior Leadership Team: Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team taking collective responsibility for decision making, risk and budget management across the Trust. Work with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure all communications effectively contribute to and support all strategic goals of the Trust.
• Brand Marketing: Work with teams to improve our products and services and how these meet the needs of our audiences, including working with focus groups (with co-creation when relevant).
• Building Capability: Coordinate providing support and training for all staff to achieve effective communications, which supports the Trust’s overall brand and positioning, including mentoring the communications team.
• Systems & Processes: Maintain and develop systems for gathering information and communications planning within the Trust and from project partners, RSWT and SWT. Embedding into all teams’ ways of working.

Responsibility 2: Communications Delivery

• Line Management: Manage, support and develop a team of staff and volunteers to deliver the communications work programme, providing effective line management. Including the provision of specialist support and advice for the development of specific communication campaigns or tools across the organisation.
• Budgets: Ensure communication activity elsewhere in the Trust is produced within allocated budgets and timeframes.
• Performance: Set and manage KPIs and budget for communications programmes, monitoring and reporting performance and reforecasting in line with Trust requirements. Continuous improvement.
• Brand: Develop the Trust’s brand, ensuring a clear and distinctive brand proposition and engaging brand identity, which also supports the Trust as part of the Wildlife Trusts movement. Ensure the brand’s consistent use and monitor the link with the Trust strategy and values.
• Public Affairs: Oversee the PR and media relations (press office function), and act as a key charity spokesperson when required. Horizon scanning and being aware of emerging issues to develop opportunistic messages to optimise nature recovery actions.
• Crisis Management: Protect the Trust's reputation by ensuring the effectiveness of robust crisis management plans and the definition of clear policies and position statements.
• Design, Content & Print: Coordinate the Annual Report with teams and Trustees. Editor for the members’ magazine and print products to support membership retention and enable action for nature.

Responsibility 3: Campaigns for Change

• Strategic Campaign Planning: Work with our policy, advocacy and engagement specialists to design campaigns that move people through the engagement funnel, change behaviour, influence policy, and improve supporter retention. Work with the Exec Team to set campaign objectives tied to clear outcomes: acquisition, activation, retention, behaviour change, policy influence, or income generation.
• Supporter Journeys & Segmentation: Map and optimise journeys across channels (email, web, social media, print, events) with named next steps that move people toward deeper engagement and action.
• Marketing Campaign Leadership: Own the strategic design of multi-channel marketing campaigns and provide clear briefs and creative direction to the delivery team. Ensure channel integration so website journeys, email, print content and social media activity are coordinated and measurable. Keep storytelling compelling while optimising for acquisition and action.
• Advocacy & Policy Campaigns: Work across teams to design campaigns to influence systems change by leveraging our data and evidence, combining public voice, stakeholder engagement and targeted advocacy tactics.
• Behaviour Change Campaigns: Work with our engagement specialists to apply social marketing techniques and behavioural frameworks to shift norms and the adoption of actions for nature. Translate data and evidence into interventions that use communication tactics such as prompts, social proof, incentives and nudges to create measurable behaviour change.

The Enfield SASS team provides advocacy and support to survivors of domestic and sexual abuse living in Enfield. An exciting opportunity has arisen in this busy team for an IDVA within the Domestic Abuse team to be collocated across the LBE Children’s Services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for risk and needs assessing and safety planning with survivors of domestic violence. They will hold a caseload of service users identified as requiring crisis intervention, advice, advocacy and onward referral where appropriate. You will be the first point of contact for social care professionals providing training and upskilling as part of the LBE Children Services Domestic Abuse team.

Homelessness Outreach Support Worker

We are seeking someone who can build trust, support people facing homelessness and help them move away from rough sleeping.

Position: Rough Sleeper Navigator (internal title)

About the Role

This is a hands-on, practical role supporting people who are rough sleeping and living with complex needs. You will work directly with individuals on the street, in the community and across local services, providing tailored one to one support to help them access housing, healthcare, treatment and wider support.

Key responsibilities include:

· Delivering early morning and late evening outreach based on local intelligence and Streetlink alerts

· Acting as a consistent point of contact for people using the service, ensuring they can access the right help at the right time

· Providing a person centred, trauma informed approach to each individual’s support plan

· Supporting people with practical day to day needs including health, benefits, community activities, budgeting and maintaining accommodation

· Helping people address challenges around alcohol or drug use in group or one to one settings

· Keeping clear and accurate records, case notes and reports

About You

You’ll be someone who genuinely wants to help people change their lives and you’ll be resilient, calm under pressure and comfortable working with individuals who have multiple needs.

You will need:

· Experience of supporting or motivating people with complex backgrounds

· Understanding of housing, homelessness or related support services

· Strong communication and conflict management skills

· Ability to build trust and positive relationships with a wide range of partners

· A recovery focused, person centred approach

· Willingness to work early mornings, late evenings and weekends as part of a rota

It would be helpful if you have an NVQ Level 3 in a relevant field or experience in homelessness, housing, substance misuse or community outreach, but this is not essential. A driving licence or language skills are also desirable.

We are seeking a high-calibre, values-driven Management Accountant to support our Head of Finance in delivering excellent financial stewardship across the church and our trading subsidiary.

Ruach City Church is going through a very exciting period of change and expansion. To be to be successful for this role you will need to be part qualified or fully qualified (or be qualified by experience) with knowledge and experience of both financial and management accounting, and good technical knowledge of financial systems.

Responsibilities - Key financial and management accounting functions including:

• Month-end and year-end close
• Budget preparation and reporting

About You

• A recognised accounting qualification (or current study toward one)
• Knowledge of both financial and management accounting, and good technical knowledge of financial process management including Sage
• Proven experience of providing accounting services in an accounting department.
• Experience producing clear financial reports and reconciliations
• Excellent attention to detail, integrity and organisational skills
• The ability to build relationships and support both finance colleagues and stakeholders
• Has experience in charity finance or fund accounting (desirable, not essential)

The Development Manager sits within our Development & Communications Team and plays a critical role in securing the funding and partnerships that fuel our global prevention efforts. This role is responsible for managing and preparing high-quality funding applications, nurturing donor and partner relationships, and leading on individual giving initiatives that grow our supporter base and strengthen long-term sustainability.

This role will be responsible for:

Funding Development & Applications

• Prepare and submit compelling, high-quality funding proposals to trusts and foundations.

• Develop supplementary materials for applications, including budgets, MEL frameworks, timelines, and theories of change.

• Research and identify new funding opportunities to maintain a strong pipeline.

• Manage funding calendars, ensuring deadlines, reporting, and grant obligations are met.

Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing funders, partners, and individual donors, ensuring excellent stewardship.

• Support the Head of Development & Communications in cultivating philanthropic prospects and corporate partnerships.

• Represent STOP THE TRAFFIK in meetings and presentations with funders and external stakeholders.

Campaigns & Individual Giving

• Lead individual giving activities.

• Collaborate with the Development & Communications Team to design creative fundraising campaigns that grow income across diverse supporter groups including universities, schools, and community initiatives.

Storytelling & Impact

• Translate data, insights, and project outcomes into persuasive narratives for funders and partners.

• Work closely with programme teams to gather impact information and incorporate it into applications and pitches.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in fundraising or partnership development within the charity or social impact sector.

• A strong track record of writing successful funding proposals and trust/foundation applications.

• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive, evidence-based narratives.

• Experience researching prospects and managing a varied funding pipeline.

• Confidence presenting to funders and external audiences.

For over 15 years, Scotty's Little Soldiers has been supporting children and young people who have been bereaved of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.  We are about to embark on an exciting journey which will see the charity evolve to support anyone affected by a military-connected bereavement and ultimately empower a community of more than 25,000 bereaved individuals and their families by 2035.

Founded in 2010 by Nikki Scott following the death of her husband, Corporal Lee Scott, the charity currently offers a unique blend of emotional, practical, and educational support to over 750 young people.

Role Mission.

To ensure that Scotty’s understands and demonstrates the impact of its work — through high-quality research, meaningful measurement, and clear reporting. You will lead the development of internal and external research projects, manage beneficiary insight gathering, and oversee the systems and frameworks we use to evaluate and share our effectiveness. 

This role is central to helping us improve what we do and explain why it matters and ensuring that lived experience remains at the heart of everything we do. 

The key responsibilities of this role are:

Impact Measurement 

• Develop and maintain frameworks to measure the outcomes of all services and programmes. 

• Ensure Success Measures (KPIs) and qualitative feedback tools are aligned to our Theory of Change. 

• Work with the Families (service delivery) team to embed consistent and meaningful data collection across all services. 

• Design simple, automated reporting processes to reduce manual admin and improve data use. 

Research & Insight 

• Lead internal research projects using beneficiary data, surveys, and feedback loops. 

• Scope and manage external research partnerships with academic institutions or sector bodies. 

• Design and deliver surveys to beneficiaries and the wider bereaved military community 

• Produce evidence to support service development, strategic decisions, influence national policy, and funding bids. 

• Lead our existing advisory group (for children and young people) and establish new groups as required (e.g. for adult services). 

• Ensure that lived experience remains at the heart of the charity’s focus on understanding of the need. 

Communication of Impact 

• Create clear, accessible insight reports and data summaries for internal and external use 

• Lead the delivery of the annual Impact Report (content, structure, coordination with teams). 

• Develop quarterly insight packs for funders and stakeholders, with engaging visuals and stories. 

• Work with the Outreach Squad to ensure impact is integrated into campaigns and storytelling. 

Learning & Collaboration 

• Act as the internal ‘voice of insight’ – bringing beneficiary perspective and data into key conversations. 

• Contribute to team training on evaluation, feedback collection, and outcomes thinking. 

• Participate in cross-functional planning, especially with the Service Delivery and Outreach Squads. 

Policy (Light Touch) 

• Track key developments in bereavement, Armed Forces, and youth policy 

• Produce brief summaries or ‘position snapshots’ where relevant to Scotty’s mission 

• Build relationships with other research and impact professionals in the sector 

The 30-day goals for this role are:

• Build a deep understanding of Scotty’s mission, our audience, the services we provide, and strategic direction.
• Develop a deep understanding of our current Success Measures, Impact measurements and Theory of Change. 
• Reviewing research and data produced by the charity and related external research previously published. 
• Understand the data structure and reporting capabilities of Salesforce. 
• Understand existing commitments (e.g. funder report, impact reports etc). 
• Taken ownership of our 2026 Community-wide survey (project will be handed over upon start). 

The 60-day goals for this role are:

• Audit current data quality and gaps across the F-Team Programmes. 

• Support the publishing of the 2025 Impact Report (NB this might have be published but let’s put it in for now). 

•  Scoped and invited members to join our first adult lived experience advisory group.

• Analysed and shared results of 2026 Community-wide survey. 

• Reached out to relevant impact and research groups to introduce yourself, particularly those attached the military or bereavement charitable sectors. 

• Identified 1-2 relevant conferences or forums for Scotty’s to present at. 

The 90-day goals for this role are:

• Held at least 1 adult lived experience advisory group session. 

• Created and shared the first quarterly Impact Review for internal use.

• Fully taken accountability for impact reporting and research projects within the charity and able to demonstrate a clear plan of action for the rest of the year. 

• Proposed an outline for the Annual Family Feedback Survey in September. 

About You

Must-Have 

Proven experience in research and/or impact evaluation, ideally in the charity or public sector 

Strong skills in data collection, survey design, and analysis 

Excellent written communication and reporting skills 

Able to translate data into real-world insight 

Nice-to-Have 

Experience working with or around the Armed Forces community 

Understanding of trauma-informed or bereavement support practices 

Experience producing Impact Reports or funding insight packs 

Familiarity with Salesforce or CRM data tools 

Some knowledge of public policy or third sector trends

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the Human Relief Foundation’s goals. Person Specification

• Must hold a professional accountancy qualification: ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA.

Responsibilities:

• Acting as point of contact and spokesperson for all financial aspects of the charity and a trading subsidiary company;

• Providing complete and parallel financial accounting services to the charity and it’s trading subsidiary arm, maintaining proper records of all financial activities, and reconciling any inter-company issues between the charity and it’s trading arm;

• Implementation & administration of a Pension Plan for both the charity and the subsidiary as and when required;

• Providing financial expertise, leadership and high quality support to the management team in the UK and our international offices;

• Outgoing payments for the UK offices and making International payments;

• Receipt of payments and making payments, in the UK and for projects Internationally in the field whilst maintaining separate budgets and records and liaising where necessary with International Programmes Department and other relevant departments;

• You will be responsible for the management and development of the small team of finance staff in the UK and internationally. Completion of all relevant quarterly, annual and other statutory compliance requirements for both the charity and its subsidiary, including

• Preparation and submission of quarterly Gift Aid returns and quarterly VAT returns to HMRC;

• Preparation of annual end of year accounts, filings and documentation for annual audits;

• Filing all relevant records with HMRC, Inland Revenue, Charity Commission, and Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator;

• Maintaining all relevant records and implementing changes to existing handling of records as required for compliance purposes.

We are seeking an experienced, registered nurse to support and lead our nursing unit in the absence of the Unit Manager or Deputy Unit Manager.
