Why Access Social Care Exists

Everyday millions of older and disabled people are denied the social care they need. Most local authorities can’t meet the growing demand for care, none are confident they can meet their legal duties in the future. This affects all of us, we will all need social care at some point.

We all have a right to hold public bodies to account. But most of us cannot afford lawyers so rely on legal aid. The 77% drop in community care legal aid cases since 2010 means we have nowhere to turn. Without access to justice, our rights do not exist. The rule of law is broken.

What we do

Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs, helping achieve a better quality of life. We work with communities to increase knowledge of the law and our rights. We highlight the gap left by cuts to Legal Aid and provide advice for those who can’t afford it.

With a 98% success rate, our network of lawyers and barristers ensure fair access to justice when things go wrong. We collaborate with social services whilst ensuring legal obligations are met. We are working towards a future where social care is adequately funded, and we all get the support we need.

About the role

This is an exciting time to join our organisation. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly including across our senior leadership team. We have nearly tripled in size and income since we started operating in April 2020 and we anticipate that this strong growth will continue for the duration of our next strategic period. Access Social Care are an organisation of thirty-six people, and this is a new role in the People team coming at a period of growth to drive a thriving charity and help shape its future.

This is a fast-paced role whose emphasis is on policy / process / systems improvement as well as advising colleagues and managers across the organisation regarding all aspects of the employee lifecycle. You will work with people at all levels of the organisation supporting the People Director on strategy work streams as the organisation continues to grow and evolve.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all day-to-day HR processes within the employee lifecycle to ensure staff are supported appropriately and legislative responsibilities are fulfilled
• Work alongside the People Director to map or review processes across the employee lifecycle, identify blockers and seek to implement solutions that create efficiency and clarity 
• Advise on employee relations and discuss complex or sensitive cases with the People Director to decide the best course of action, ensuring that cases are resolved in a timely manner or be a trusted advisor to our managers with their people challenges
• Coordinate the delivery of projects, process and policy improvements as defined and prioritised within the People Plan, leading on workstreams as outlined by the People Director
• Support the People Director in sourcing training and learning solutions, and evaluating training
• Provide practical upskilling and training to managers and employees in HR practices and policy
• Coordinate recruitment efforts at Access Social Care, ensuring compliance with employment laws and providing guidance to managers. Manage the recruitment cycle and administration process from job ads to onboarding
• Support staff engagement activities across Access Social Care in conjunction with the People Director. These may include but are not limited to the following initiatives: staff survey coordination, and wellbeing events
• To be a super user and actively promote the use of the HRIS system (Bright HR) and ensure that electronic staffing records are updated and maintained accurately in accordance with GDPR
• Dealing with cyclical and ad-hoc data reporting and requests for information including data analysis
• Contribute to effective payroll administration ensuing information is shared with the Finance Officer in a timely manner, and collaborating with the People Director to address and rectify any issues and process improvements
• Work within the parameters of GDPR, ensuring data and information is protected and handled correctly

This is a full time role - Hybrid working with an expectation of weekly attendance to Head Office at Baynards Green, Nr. Bicester Oxfordshire.

Job Purpose:-

We are looking to appoint a Finance Officer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Head of Finance this new role will ensure that appropriate financial processes and systems are followed and developed to support our charity’s sustainable growth and safeguard our financial health.

The Finance Officer will ensure that financial tasks and transactions are undertaken in an efficient, effective and timely manner and, importantly, that relevant financial information is provided to keep the Head of Finance updated and informed, supporting the Leadership Team to make the best decisions for the charity.

We are looking for a confident and experienced individual to join our supportive team. Previous charity finance knowledge is helpful but not essential, above all we want an individual to be tenacious, curious, diligent and show strong initiative.

Who are you?

You should be accomplished in Sage 50 Accounts and have considerable experience working in a finance function and in financial administration.

Some experience of working with Salesforce or an equivalent CRM database and an accountancy qualification or studying towards a professional qualification ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA) or AAT qualified. Experience of working in the Voluntary Sector, paid or unpaid would be great.

You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills (a natural ability to clearly communicate financial information to those with a non-finance background). You need to have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and experience in database and payroll systems.

It would be amazing for you to have high level of attention to detail and methodical working, be a self-starter and be able to use initiative.

This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. Chapter One is a small but growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3,300 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

This role is an exciting opportunity for someone to contribute to the work of our fast-growing charity. You will work as part of the Chapter One Support Team, ensuring that our online reading volunteers have everything that they need - from onboarding to assisting with ID checks and responding to email queries. You will be the first point of contact for our online reading volunteers, so excellent customer service skills and a genuine interest in helping others is essential.

Reporting to the Performance and Data Manager, you will work for 25-30 hours a week (Monday to Friday) and will need to be available for an 09:30 am start each morning. This role will see you working to influence the policy landscape, and develop evidence-based policy positions, on issues concerning finances and debt, welfare benefits, and employment, affecting the Armed Forces community.

Reporting to the Policy Manager, key responsibilities will include:

· Monitor the policy landscape and upcoming policy development across the welfare and employment portfolio, within central, local, and devolved government

· Track and analyse changes in needs, priorities, and concerns of the armed forces community

· Use qualitative and quantitative research, policy analysis and lived experience to develop robust, evidence-based policy positions and proposals

· Identify, establish, and maintain an impactful network of key policy stakeholders across the charity sector and government

· Represent RBL publicly through securing opportunities to present policy issues and products, including at relevant events, workshops, external committees and working groups

About You:

You will have experience of training and presenting as well as supporting Face to Face campaigns ideally within a third sector fundraising role. Key to this role will be the ability to build, manage and develop relationships. 

Additionally, you’ll be able to run analysis and have experience using Dynamics 365, Raisers Edge or a similar database. 

About The Role

• Provide continual training and compliance monitoring support to our Face to Face partners in the execution of all door, private Sites and events fundraising, this includes leading on developing new opportunities in conjunction with St John events.
• Oversee and collaboratively work with our Telephone Fundraising partners on their training and compliance of all deliverables such as welcome calls, upgrades, reactivations and other fundraising campaigns – includes caller listening
• Oversee regular audits of agents, to monitor against key auditory compliance and performance metrics.
• Manage relationships with our Face to Face partners with training, development and materials, and performance reviews. Monitoring various forms or training and reviewing inductions in line with our agreed contract.
• Build a strong knowledge of all areas of St John Ambulance’s work, carrying out continual research and gathering information, case studies and photos for use in training booklets, scripts and materials. Where appropriate, to liaise with external agencies such as designers and copywriters.

The Membership Engagement Officer (MEO) is a key role which inspires and engages our membership to be active and fulfil their role and purpose while remaining compliant with the Legion’s Membership handbook and policies. We are looking for an effective, diligent multi-tasker with excellent customer service and communication skills who can both support and challenge.

The MEO provides organisational support, advice and information to our members, and works closely with County Committees, membership central team staff and other departments.  This a varied role which covers a range of duties from connecting and building relationships with Branches to compliance oversight and responding to membership queries.

The Door is a Christian youth charity based in Gloucestershire, established in 1991 for the benefit of all young people aged 11 to 25 and their families. It’s a place where every young person and their parents can feel safe, happy and valued, with the best possible opportunity to reach their potential.

We are currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Bid Coordinator to join our Fundraising Team.  Within the team you’d be responsible for generating income from The Door’s fundraising portfolio to meet our budgeted current and future service delivery needs, and specifically for raising income from grants and tender bids.  You’d coordinate the end-to-end process of bid submission, from researching funding opportunities to writing compelling bids to ensuring the timely delivery of reports to funders.

You’ll be an excellent written communicator, with the ability to compose accurate, concise and persuasive prose, strong administrative and relationship management skills, experience of working with budgets and a good eye for detail.  You should have experience of writing successful funding bids and reports.  A detailed understanding of the wider funding environment in the voluntary sector is also highly desirable.

This role is home-based and ideal for a skilled bid writer who needs flexible hours.
