We’re looking for a Project officer to support our work with micro community and voluntary groups across the city, boosting the impact of these groups across Birmingham.

The role builds on our work with small community organisations, within a defined geographical area in Birmingham. You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of activities that support small and micro voluntary groups in the city.

Briefly, the role will involve:-

• Organising, hosting and facilitating (online and in-person) meetings, events and workshops
• Developing networks and contacts and working with host organisations and wider stakeholders for the benefit of the groups we support
• Speaking to volunteers and group members (in person and online) to understand their queries about setting up or developing their micro community group or small charity.

This role is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Location: Home based but the role requires travel to and from community venues around Birmingham.

Salary: Pro-rata £17,100, based on 22.2 hours per week (£28,500 FTE salary)

Somebody goes missing in the UK every 90 seconds. Missing People exists to ease the heartache experienced by those missing someone, and to help people who are away from home find their way back to safety. Our vision is for every missing child, adult and family left behind to find help, hope and a safe way to reconnect. We are a non-judgemental, highly skilled team of staff and volunteers working for everyone who needs us. We provide free, confidential support, help and advice by phone, email, text and live chat.

The work of the charity includes helpline and intensive support services for young people who are running away, missing adults, and people whose loved ones are missing (“families”). The experiences of the people we support include: suicide and self-harm, mental health crisis, child sexual and criminal exploitation, traumatic grief (bereavement by suicide, homicide), discrimination. The frontline team support people in heart-breaking situations – the people we support often feel helpless and are living in limbo due to the ambiguous loss of their missing loved one.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL HAVE

Your role will be to provide clinical supervision to staff across the Services Team. It is essential for the frontline team to be able to maintain strong boundaries, have regular debriefing and the space to process the work they do and to reflect on how working with this trauma is impacting them, as well as to develop their practice. You will:

• Provide regular individual clinical supervision for frontline staff or Senior Coordinators / Team Leaders;
• Monitor attendance at supervision;
• Provide regular reports to the Services Leadership Team on engagement with supervision and any development needs identified;
• Facilitate 2-4 thematic group sessions per year for Services staff (reflective practice).

ABOUT YOU

You will have proven experience of:
• Providing clinical supervision to helpline staff and/or their team leaders;
• Transforming experience into learning;
• Working around the issues of suicide & self-harm, mental health crisis and discrimination;
• Working around the issues of child sexual and criminal exploitation and traumatic grief (bereavement by suicide, homicide);
• Implementing safeguarding procedures to safeguard children, young people or adults at risk of harm.

You must also have:
• Qualification in clinical supervision with a minimum of 2 years post qualification practice;
• BACP registration or accreditation (preferred) or UKCP registration;
• and be a qualified Counsellor.
• You must have the legal right to work in the UK. We are unable to provide sponsorship for this position.

As a Sous Chef you will be responsible for operating within one of two full-production kitchens within two separate buildings (Remembrance and Aspects) to supply catering across multiple outlets including self-serve 380 cover restaurant, table waited functions room up to 500, coffee shop, ‘pop up Foodservice outlets within the grounds of the Arboretum and hospitality. We are open daily from 10:00 till 17:00 7 days a week, we do some bespoke evening events in our Aspects building throughout the year.

If successful, the main duties of your role will be:

 

• To support the Executive Head Chef in the delivery of the Food Services Strategy.
• Consistently maintain high standards of food service and provision to meet the expectations of Staff, Volunteers, visitors and clients.
• To ensure that the methods of preparation and presentation comply with current recognised catering standards and those implemented by the Food Services Manager and Executive Head Chef.
• To take operational control, including supervision of all kitchen staff, of any of the kitchens, food production, food service and pot-wash areas as required by the Executive Head Chef.
• To assist the Executive Head Chef with menu planning, rota changes, staff training and stock control..
• To report any customer complaints and compliments and to quickly resolve any complaints to ensure satisfaction at the point of delivery wherever possible.
• To help ensure that all members of staff adhere to both statutory regulations and NMA’s policies on food safety and health and safety within all catering areas.
• Work with the Executive Head Chef to ensure that effective induction, supervision and appraisals of catering staff are carried out and that training needs are identified and met.

Role description and purpose

The post-holder will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of CPA’s portfolio of programmes in line with the strategic direction set by the Council and Trustees. Reporting directly to the CEO, the post-holder will be a key member of the senior management team, leading the Programme/Project Management team and working with the Finance Manager, Communications Lead, Research Lead, Advisors and other key staff to develop and deliver CPA programmes across the Commonwealth and beyond. This will include strategic planning, project and team management, development of workplans and budgets, provision of leadership, good governance and oversight of all programme-related activities. This role will be responsible for engaging and working with external agencies, subject matter experts, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the on-budget delivery of high-quality outputs across CPA’s portfolio of programmes. The post holder will also be required to work with other Leads and key staff across the organisation to scope and develop relationships with potential funders and support the creation of funding proposals for future programmes and workstreams, integrating their delivery into the overall programmes portfolio.

Key duties and responsibilities

Leadership and operational planning, management and oversight

• Collaborate with the Board, CEO and key staff to develop and advance the organisational strategic plan and goals and ensure programme areas align with strategic plan.

• Implement the strategic plan, integrating all aspects of the organisation’s work into programmes, including policy, advocacy, communications, product development, research and evaluation.

• Work with the CEO and senior management team, creating, maintaining, and/or overseeing systems and processes to ensure effective management of the daily operations of the programmes team and an organisational structure that supports the organisation’s goals.

Programme planning and management

• Oversee and lead the development and delivery of high-quality programmes, services and resources in line with users’ needs and the wider global health landscape, taking into consideration other relevant internal and external programmes, services and resources already available or under development.

• Lead and direct the appropriate use of programme resources including staffing and finances, ensuring programmes are delivered to budget in accordance to agreed KPIs and outcomes.

• Manage grant life cycles, from request to close. This entails supporting the writing of/reviewing applications, overseeing budgets, reviewing or producing relevant reports, and monitoring impact.

• Deepen existing relationships with donors, agencies, and stakeholders to enhance programme sustainability, engaging with key stakeholders to understand their needs and align programme offerings accordingly.

Human resources planning and management

• Leading the programmes team, including direct line management responsibility, regular one-to-ones, team meetings, pastoral support and appraisals.

About the Role:

As the University Access Officer, you will work with school staff at all levels, volunteer tutors, and the rest of the organisation's team to ensure the programme is delivered effectively. Other roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Engaging with students in school and enrolling them onto the programme
• Assessing student progress towards making successful university applications
• Uploading information onto the Salesforce database (training provided)
• Building and managing relationships with volunteers to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme
• Managing students' relationships with volunteers through monitoring systems, emails, and phone calls
• Working with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme
• Chairing and presenting at school meetings with senior management to report on programme progress
• Supporting the volunteering team by helping deliver volunteer training sessions and attending university site visits, which take place on occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings (paid time off provided)

Strategy

• Working with the Board to articulate a clear and compelling vision for growth with realistic and measurable goals for scaling our program and social impact.

• Working with the Board of Trustees to mitigate organisational risks and enable decisions that will protect against major business disruption

• Developing effective collaborations with VCSE organisations, the NHS, Public Health and community partners to provide our members access to a wide range of services.

Stability

• Overseeing the development and optimisation of the organization's infrastructure, including technology, facilities, and human resources, to support increased capacity.
• Overseeing the robust financial management of our finances to ensure long-term sustainability, compliance, and efficiency.
• Developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that builds and nurtures strong relationships with existing and prospective funders.
• Building capacity by recruiting top talents as Trustees, staff or volunteers, offer training and support to equip them with the skills needed and to develop their leadership skills.
• Supporting our staff team with professional development, good working conditions, supportive management, and regular performance appraisals.

Scalability

• Ensuring evidence-based systems for monitoring and evaluating the impact of our service are implemented, using service user data and feedback to make informed decisions and adjustments.
• Writing high quality impact reports that are comprehensive, transparent, and wellstructured to effectively communicate outcomes and social return on investment.

You will be supported by and work alongside our Artistic Director who will be stepping down from her current CEO role.

Stories and Media Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced storyteller to show the impact of live music in healthcare through the voices of the charity’s diverse community. This could be people who have experienced the live music, their family members, health and care staff, musicians or other stakeholders.

The Stories and Media Officer will be skilled at telling stories in different ways for a variety of audiences and channels. They will demonstrate human connection and the power of music to create special moments and memories.

The Role

You will build trust with people the charity is sharing a story on behalf of and foster lasting relationships. You will manage media contacts, seeking out relevant opportunities in the press and work with partners on features.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

• Lead on storytelling - writing effective and powerful stories to meet the needs of different functions, including fundraising materials, direct marketing, social media, sector reports and events, press opportunities, website features and publications.
• Attend live music experiences to conduct interviews and facilitate photography/filming etc
• Proactively identify and propose opportunities where stories can support and amplify the work of the charity, increasing awareness and supporting fundraising and impact reporting.
• Work within the communications team to facilitate social media and video content
• Manage a database of stories, case studies and quotes

About You

You will have experience of working across organisations to gather powerful and impactful stories and of building and maintaining relationships with different stakeholders. You will have a proven track record of successfully selling stories into local media and of managing stories in a database, including measuring and reporting on campaign performance.
