About the role
We are looking for a proactive self-starter to sit within a high-performing team working to raise awareness of SSAFA’s support in the South West Region of England to those in the Armed Forces Community who need it most.
With the ultimate objective being to grow SSAFA’s presence, profile, and identity, the role is responsible for all marcomms activation in the region. The role holder will work to deliver the central Fundraising, Marketing & Communications strategy.
This role reports to the Head of Communications with close alignment with colleagues across the marcomms directorate. The marcomms manager will be responsible for managing marketing campaigns in the South West Region of England and promoting SSAFA’s fundraising initiatives and services. You’ll identify the areas of greatest impact and cut through, deliver integrated awareness campaigns and secure media coverage of fundraising events. Crucially, you’ll be able to identify stories which resonate with our target audience and write calls to action.
With a heavy focus on media and PR activity, key to the role is building strong relationships and contacts with relevant stakeholders in your region including media representatives, employees, volunteers, and case study beneficiaries.
About the team
The Communications team is a small but dynamic group of individuals with strong skillsets across Public Relations, Storytelling (case studies) and Internal Communications. The team is a mix of ex-forces and civilians, and they are always sharing knowledge and expertise with each other.
You will work closely across all directorates within SSAFA, with a focus in South West, to garner information and create compelling marcomms campaigns and activities to raise awareness of SSAFA’s work.

You will be a highly motivated and creative communicator with a proven track record of delivering impactful PR and marketing campaigns. As a natural storyteller with strong media instincts, you will excel at securing high-profile coverage and elevating our brand presence. You will be a confident relationship builder, skilled at engaging stakeholders across the region, from media contacts to volunteers and case study beneficiaries. You will also be able to work independently while staying closely aligned with teams across fundraising and communications, demonstrating proactivity and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

As a successful Senior Events Officer you will work with people from across the charity, from Trustees to experienced administrators. You will build and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including our small staff team, trustee Board, event speakers and suppliers. You will act as a key liaison for speakers and attendees ensuring all are left with the highest opinion of OCD Action. You will have a track record of managing event logistics, and be confident in developing event project plans and risk management plans. You will have project management experience and a solutions-focused approach. Ideally you will have a good understanding of event ticketing and will previously have used a CRM system to manage relationships with event attendees. Through this role you will be key to OCD Actions work and to delivering our vision and strategy.

The Head of Operations and Governance is a key member of senior staff. You will be either a practised operations specialist looking for a new challenge or someone with relevant experience looking to step up to their first role leading operations. In this role, you will:
- Be responsible for financial management, fundraising admin, preparation of annual accounts and bookkeeping
- Support the CEO in fundraising initiatives and project admin
- Provide the operational underpinning for the Centre ensuring the smooth running of IT, events, contracts and all office systems
- Act as secretariat to the Board of Trustees, Advisory Committee, Remuneration Committee and Audit and Risk Committee
- Guide the governance of the charity and complete statutory reporting.
You must be highly organised and have a clear head for numbers and systems. Often working under your own steam and multitasking to tight deadlines, you will need to be efficient and committed to the unique needs of this role without being drawn into the science and media activities of the Centre.
Experience of the charity sector, finance and/or governance is an advantage.

About the Youth Endowment Fund
We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives.
The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed. We then need to work with the right people that can make change happen, across systems, policies and practice, to have a real impact on reducing violence affecting children’s lives.
Key Responsibilities
Deciding which projects, we should fund and evaluate is key, as is making sure we deliver our funding and evaluations to the highest standards. Our Programme Managers are responsible for identifying, assessing, funding and supporting programmes designed to prevent youth violence.
Programme Managers at YEF come from all walks of life. We look for individuals who may have experience in the youth sector, children’s social care, policing, criminal justice, education or how to involve local residents in making decisions about their own neighbourhoods.
As a Programme Manager at YEF, you will work very closely with our evaluation team to make sure we learn from what’s being implemented and that the organisations we fund are prepared and excited to work with us to find what works.
To achieve this, you will:
· Make sure we choose the best organisations to work with by assessing funding applications, critically appraising delivery plans and budgets, getting to know potential grantees and conducting site visits. These assessments will help you form recommendations to our senior leadership team about which opportunities to pursue.
· Work closely with grantees, external evaluators and our own evaluation team to ensure that the activity we are funding will be evaluable. This requires you to support and advise grantees on how to work in the context of an evaluation – usually, a randomised trial (you don’t have to have experience working on a randomised trial in the past, but it helps!).
· Build strong relationships with our grantees and provide them with ongoing management and support through the life of their funding. You will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of grantees and ensuring targets are met and any project risks are effectively mitigated.
· Think carefully about how we find the best projects to fund and evaluate, ensuring we can best find what works to keep children safe. To do this you might need to work with colleagues to spot where there has previously been a lack of evidence about what works (we will help you with this!). You would project manage these projects so they are excellently delivered – on time, within budget, and to a high standard. You will help to determine what our commissioning processes aim to achieve and design grant application processes to achieve it.
· You’ll manage our engagement with potential grantees to make sure we are attracting a diverse and promising portfolio of organisations to apply.
· Report to our team and external stakeholders regularly on how well the projects we are funding are going, spotting where grantees need support and coming up with how we can best provide that support.
· Represent the Youth Endowment Fund at external events, including reporting and presenting to our Grants and Evaluation Committee, who approve all our funding decisions.
About You

You are able to reach sound and considered judgements about the viability and suitability of applicants based upon our given criteria, often using detailed written and financial information, and are able to deliver constructive feedback to organisations. You can also identify when things aren’t going to plan and be proactive with sharing observations and recommendations.
- You are an optimiser. You look for solutions and think creatively to overcome challenges. You are curious, hungry to learn and always looking for ways to improve processes and increase efficiency and impact.
- You love well-designed systems. You are committed to designing and maintaining the best systems to make sure we manage our commissioning processes well. You know this is critical to effectively managing multiple, large-scale funding programmes and competing priorities.

- Lead the development of written and audiovisual content for our digital platforms
- Develop and implement a content strategy for our digital channels (working closely with the social media team) and a set of guiding principles for producing engaging, accessible, search optimised content across all channels

About You
- Ability to create impactful and compelling online content (written copy, graphics, video and audio)

The Postdoctoral Research Manager will assist the Director of Research in running Bipolar UK’s Research Division:
- working with the charity and its multiple partner projects and collaborators to deliver on our current research commitments
- to develop the long-term sustainability of the Bipolar UK Research Division
This is an exciting role which will combine overseeing and managing existing and prospective research partnerships with research teams around the country and world, and taking part in the development of Bipolar UK-led research.
Current research partners include teams at UCL, Oxford, Cardiff and the GW4 Alliance, Swansea, King’s College London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Lancaster, Liverpool, together with international organisations such as The Global Bipolar Cohort and the International Society for Bipolar Disorders. Our aim at Bipolar UK is to integrate research into the charity in a way which combines more traditional elements of facilitating lived experience involvement alongside actively contributing to and directing research. We are also striving to increase awareness of bipolar and to campaign for more bipolar-specific research, addressing the ‘bipolar gap’ within research and services.
Bipolar UK is very much a user-driven organisation. Approximately one-third of our staff, including our Director of Research, have lived experience of bipolar themselves, while many more have lived experience through family or close friends. The Caring Family Foundation (TCFF) is dedicated to improving the lives of women, with children at the heart of all that we do. We are a grant-giving organisation with projects both in the UK and in Brazil. In the UK, our work is focused on tackling child poverty and domestic abuse.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of a small, committed team in a fast-paced environment. The role will involve the management of TCFF grants, contribution to its strategic objectives, and the planning and implementation of communications’ events.

Responsibilities
- In close collaboration with the Senior Project Manager, to manage the delivery of grants, ensuring that they are in line with TCFF’s objectives, values and criteria.
- To monitor grants closely and ensure regular and accurate reporting.
- To maintain records of all grant reports, awards and applications, and to monitor milestones.
- To build close working relationships with grant partners.
- To prepare grants financial overviews in keeping with the agreed annual budget.
- To develop strong Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning frameworks, in collaboration with TCFF’s data agency.
- To develop and maintain a strong network of community partners, government agencies, and other relevant organisation to enhance synergies, increase TCFF visibility and credibility.
- To lead on planning and implementing visits to grant partners with the TCFF Communications’ team to capture TCFF’s work.
- To keep informed about developments in TCFF’s fields of work and collaborate with the Senior Project Manager on the strategic direction.
- To keep informed about government and other stakeholders’ best practices, research and legislation related to our fields of work.
Qualifications, skills and experience
Essential
- Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in charity programme management.
- Solid experience in overseeing grant budgets and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning frameworks.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and culturally responsive approaches to serving diverse populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with beneficiaries, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Proven ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Team player with a flexible and collaborative attitude.
- To have or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS certificate.
- Commitment to the mission and values of The Caring Family Foundation, including a dedication to social justice and equity.
Desirable
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field to TCFF’s work.
Proficiency in using Salesforce and Canva.

We are working in partnership with a Richard House Children’s Hospice to secure their new Events Manager. Richard House helps children and their families in East London to lead as happy a life as possible when dealing with a life-limiting health condition. From the moment a child is diagnosed with a life-limiting, life-threatening or complex health condition everything changes. These changes affect the whole family, which is why Richard House feel it is vital not only to provide care to the child but to support the whole family. As a member of the fundraising team, you will directly support the charity’s work, as the majority of their services are funded thanks to the generosity of their supporters.
The Events Manager will develop an events programme that delivers excellent supporter-care to all fundraisers and supporters taking part in an event or organising their own activities, maximising income from these fundraising streams. Harnessing current supporters and leading the growth of our existing network of community and event supporters is key to this role, with a focus on developing pro-active individuals, corporates and groups wanting to engage with and support events. The role will be hands on, focused on operational delivery, supporting crucial short- and medium-term funding impact, as well as longer-term and sustainable corporate income for Richard House.
This role is offered on an interim basis, but with the option to become permanent.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- A track record in managing and delivering fundraising events, including participant cultivation and stewardship.
- Evidence of developing supporter-care processes to increase engagement.
- Experience of the practical application of the Fundraising Regulator, Gift Aid and Data Protection legislation.
- Experience working with volunteers would be beneficial.
Excellent communication and relationship building skills and an ability to interact with prospects and partners at all levels will be key.
