About the Role

In this new role, you will contribute to enhancing the finance function within a growing and dynamic international charitable foundation. The role will enable you to work and continue your professional development across many aspects of the finance function. 

You will play an important part in our finance team’s further growth and professionalisation as Mission 44 extends its reach as a charity working in multiple countries. You will have the opportunity to gain further hands-on experience in driving our day-to-day finance processes, while also leading key projects to enhance our systems and put in place effective financial management of our new US entity. 

This role forms part of our Operations Team, currently comprising our Chief Operating Officer, our Head of Finance and Operations (HoFO), our Chief of Staff, our People and Culture Manager and our Operations Officer. A key part of your role will be acting as finance business partner to our other teams - impact, fundraising and communications - and demonstrating a customer service mindset in helping them achieve their objectives.

We’re looking for a finance professional, newly-qualified or working towards a chartered accountant qualification, wanting to develop their skills and career in a comprehensive finance role and contribute to our mission of helping young people thrive.

Roles and Responsibilities

Accounting (40%)

• Oversee day-to-day transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, for both the UK charity and the newly created US charity
• Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records of accounting evidence for all transactions are maintained
• Monitor cashflow
• Support the HoFO in the month-end process
• Oversee and control monthly payroll with external payroll provider
• Oversee and control VAT returns with external accountants
• Check monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Develop the purchase order system

Financial Planning & Analysis (35%)

• Support the HoFO in the preparation of the monthly management accounts
• Control all accounts payable in dialogue with budget holders
• Finance business partnering with budget holders and the Senior Leadership Team
• Control and account for the use of restricted funds, in alignment with donor requirements and with the Impact team
• Collaborate with the fundraising team to support forecasting and income tracking

Statutory accounts and audit (10%)

• Support the HoFO in the year-end processes
• Support the HoFO in the preparation of statutory accounts, supervising outsourced accountants
• Support audit requests
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards, including charity-specific requirements

Operations (15%)

• Responsible for the financial management of grant payments, in coordination with Grant Managers and Grant Budget Holders
• Drive good practice in procurement and manage the relationship with suppliers
• Support the wider Ops team in ad hoc projects and activities

Skills and experience

Essential

• Newly qualified or part qualified, working towards a chartered accountant qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Able to be hands-on in a small finance team
• Able to drive relationships with outsourced accountants
• Fluent in using spreadsheets for financial information
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly explain complex financial data and concepts to non-finance staff and stakeholders to support decision-making

About you

We are looking for a proactive and visible finance professional who is able to engage and build relationships across the organisation as a pivotal member within a values led high performing organisation. You will be a qualified accountant with proven track record of financial management awareness and a solid understanding of charity audits and statutory accounts preparation. About the role

The role will involve the management of the day-to-day financial activities, VAT, gift aid, payroll and the monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and statutory accounts preparation. The job holder will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Finance Officer and volunteers within the team. There will be a requirement to work closely with the income generating staff, budget holders, auditors, banks and credit card providers on a regular basis. The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the Finance Officer and Finance volunteer.

About the role

As our Temporary Finance Manager, you will be managing a finance assistant and will be part of our organisation’s Senior Leadership Team, helping to collaboratively shape and steer the charity as we work towards our 2022-2027 strategy. The Finance Manager is at the heart of Woman’s Trust; you will play an essential role and have oversight of not just the finance team - you will have direct exposure to CEO/Board Members and decision-making for the future of the organisation. 

We are looking for a highly motived Temporary Finance Manager with demonstrable experience working in a similar senior level role. You’ll be a fully or part qualified accountant e.g. CIMA/ACA/ACCA/Cipfa, with a thorough understanding of charity accounting.

The role

We are looking for an experienced part-time NEBOSH or IOSH qualified Health and Safety Manager, who will lead manage and develop our health and safety requirements and responsibilities around working outside and around water.

We have a health and safety management plan which following on from our Health and Safety audit, has outlined the framework for this role and what is needed to be implemented over the next 12 months.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Work with both Head of HR and Operations Manager on certain aspects of office Health & Safety with as and where necessary
• Project manage and deliver all requirements of the new created H&S Management Plan
• Work with managers on Construction Design Management (CDM) health and safety
• Track and ensure that risk assessments are being completed within teams for events and elsewhere where required in Thames21
• Work with HR and line managers to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) are created, updated and reviewed periodically
• Deliver the H&S induction session with new joiners when and where applicable
• Work with the Operations Manager to ensure vehicle checks are conducted in accordance with the vehicles policy, and that all drivers are trained in the use of the inspection checklists and all aspects of vehicle inspection.
• Compile a quarterly incident report to the Head of HR
• Manage the incident reporting system, escalating serious incidents (including risks) to senior management

• Manage a programme of safety audits to reporting these to the management team
• Manage and run the quarterly H&S group meetings and keep track of progress of actions that have been assigned
• Conduct training sessions on other related health and safety as and when required

This role will be located at Battersea Old Windsor or Battersea London with regular travel to Old Windsor.

The Capital Project Manager will be responsible for leading a £4-5M project that will build a new Cattery facility at our Battersea Old Windsor site. The role will oversee all aspects of the project to ensure the capital project is completed on time, within budget and to the required standards and design. Role Purpose

Winston’s Wish is a digital first organisation leading the way in Digital Transformation across the Bereavement sector. This role is new and exciting and will play a vital part in helping Winston’s Wish turn up the dial across our high value fundraising.

As Philanthropy Manager you will be responsible for growing income from major donors and Trusts and Foundations through excellent donor stewardship. Leading a team of committed Trust fundraisers, you will focus on identifying prospective individual donors and foundations and develop lasting relationships with them. Leadership

This includes helping our partners to design high-quality research projects, delivering them, and providing systems and tools for data collection, reporting and impact benchmarking.

Opportunity 1:Manager, ImpactEd Evaluation

The Manager role works across ImpactEd Evaluation. Our partners encompass education organisations such as charities, edtech organisations and government, and schools and multi-academy Trusts. We aim to deliver high-quality research and evaluation projects that help our partners make better decisions to benefit young people.

You will act as a consultant on a range of different partnerships to help partners develop their evaluation strategy and approach. For example, you could deliver independent evaluations for organisations like the Careers and Enterprise Company, Nesta or multi-academy Trusts such as Lift Schools. You will also have opportunities to contribute to development of team strategy and learning and development resources.

As a manager you will act as a project lead, delivering high-quality research projects at scale, and support the creation of specific deliverables for projects led by others. This covers the end to end of research design and delivery, including the creation of Theories of Change and evaluation frameworks, data collection and analysis, and impact reporting to help our partners learn about the effectiveness of their programmes. Opportunity 2: Manager - Research Partnerships, ImpactEd Evaluation

The Manager role works across ImpactEd Evaluation but with a specific focus in our TRAPs team (targeted research and action projects). The TRAPs team are responsible for our national research projects, and work with both individual schools and groups of schools to sign them up to research cohorts: ensuring they can both contribute to a national research programme as well as gaining specific insights for their own school improvement journey.

You will act as a lead on a range of different partnerships to help partners develop their strategy and approach. For example, you could lead on the management of a key multi-academy trust, or could be supporting other team members with individual school partnerships, as well as supporting the Associate Director of TRAPs with overall research project design and planning. You will also have opportunities to contribute to development of team strategy and learning and development resources.

As a manager you will work closely with an Associate Director, lead on school group account management and support with the overall running and development of the TRAPs team.

About the role:

We are looking to appoint an experienced Philanthropy Manager to proactively lead the cultivation and stewardship of potential and existing major donors, trusts and statutory bodies, with a particular focus on driving significant income growth.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising and Engagement, the Philanthropy Manager will drive the growth of a portfolio of existing supporters and new prospects giving at the five and six figure gift level, with a particular focus on generating major gifts from new donors. NACCOM is recruiting a new permanent External Affairs Manager to lead the work of our small but highly impactful External Affairs team.

About the role: 

NACCOM is a national network of over 135 frontline organisations and charities across the UK, working together to end destitution amongst people seeking asylum, refugees and other migrants who aren’t able to access public funds because of their immigration status.

We do this by campaigning collectively for a fairer, more humane immigration system that doesn’t leave people destitute, and by sharing our learning, innovation, and resources across our membership to increase the level of accommodation provision and support the network is able to provide.

As our External Affairs Manager, you’ll sit at the heart of a high-performing, fully remote team, ensuring that migrant homelessness and destitution is high on the agenda. You will lead and mentor a talented External Affairs team, amplifying NACCOM’s voice as the UK’s expert voice on how the asylum and immigration system drives homelessness and destitution. 

With our 20th-anniversary milestone and a bold new organisational strategy on the horizon, you’ll seize fresh opportunities to deepen our influence. Working hand-in-hand with frontline members, people with lived experience, and high-profile partners, you will deliver sharp, evidence-led campaigns and projects that put migrant homelessness at the top of policy and media agendas. 

A strong aptitude for communications and campaigns, and an understanding of how that works alongside policy and research to underpin the external affairs function, is vital.

Hours: Full-Time (35 hours) or Part-Time (28 hours) per week 

Salary: Starting salary £43,000 annual FTE (plus £4,000 London Weighting if applicable)

Job purpose:

The External Affairs Manager will work closely with the Director and provide vital support to NACCOM and its members by: 

• Ensuring the strategic planning, management and alignment of communications, policy, research, campaigns, and advocacy as part of the External Affairs function at NACCOM. 

• Ensuring NACCOM’s external affairs functions feed from and into our network development work and our Community Ambassador / Research programme 

• Growing and safeguarding NACCOM’s brand identity, integrity and strategic positioning across all our external channels, networks and audiences. 

• Line-managing and supporting the Policy and Research Co-ordinator, Community Research Facilitator and part-time Communications Co-ordinator (currently covered by a freelancer) as well as managing any external consultants NACCOM works with across the External Affairs function. 

• Along with the Director, acting as spokesperson for NACCOM.

• Overseeing the spend against budget for External Affairs-related work. 

• Representing NACCOM at key, high-level meetings and coalitions, including with journalists, decision-makers and partners. 

• Actively supporting a culture of collaboration, support and mutual respect at NACCOM and across the membership network.

The Kennington Association (KA) is a registered charity and active community organisation based in North Lambeth. In 2013, the KA rescued the historic Lollard Street Adventure Playground (LSAP) from impending closure, brought on by local government spending cuts. With sustained funding from leading grant makers, the playground has since gone from strength to strength, winning Coolest Place to Play in the 2015 London Play Adventure Play Awards. It is now embarking on further development with a capital programme to replace the indoor play spaces, having already replaced the outdoor play structures and built new changing facilities which make our two sports pitches accessible to children with special needs. Open Door is a young people’s mental health charity that has been based in Haringey, North London for 49 years. It aims to improve mental health and life-chances of young people. We provide an ‘Open Door’ to free, high quality psychological therapy to 12–24-year-olds delivered by experienced and highly trained clinicians. We also support parents and carers, struggling with the issues their children face. We aim for access to be simple and over half of those we support, self-refer. Many young people who come to us have significant mental health difficulties and have faced barriers to services. Open Door delivers evidence informed practice and has been commended for our ambitious approach to outcome driven care. 

Open Door  received national recognition for  impact, as a 2024 finalist for Health Service Journal (HSJ) Award for Reducing Inequality and Improving Outcomes for Children and Young People  Open Door is community embedded, integrated into the local mental health infrastructure, commissioned by North Central London Integrated Care Board and part of the Haringey Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service single-point-of-access. We have a strategic voice which is used to advocate for young people’s mental health and influence practice. Last year we supported over 800 young people, parents and carers and offered over 8000 appointments. This is an exciting time to join Open Door.
