This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-growing and established health and social care charity. As a Grant and Community Fundraiser, you will play a pivotal role in our Fundraising team, helping us secure the funding necessary to sustain and enhance our vital services, primarily in the Bedfordshire area. You’ll be at the forefront of our Business Development strategies, identifying and capitalising on new funding opportunities to support our capacity-building initiatives and strategic ambitions. 

The role offers flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home, coupled with in-community engagements. There will be endless opportunities to work closely with a diverse network of funders, our dedicated frontline staff, participants, residents, and community members. This role is pivotal in cultivating relationships and elevating the visibility of our charity’s mission, to generate new and sustainable income streams.

This role offers variety and challenges for an experienced fundraiser who can hit the ground running. 

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9 - 5/5.30, hybrid working with travel across our services, which are based around London, Brighton, Kent, Essex, Luton, Bedford, Liverpool, and Nottingham. For this position, most of the travel will be within Bedfordshire. This role will be based from our Penrose Synergy office in Luton.

The Fundraising Team is currently the size of 3 (Yourself, the Grant Manager & Writer, and the Head of Fundraising, Marketing, and Communications). You will report to the Grant Manager & Writer.

What we are looking for:

• Previous experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities, this can include in a fundraising and/or sales capacity which has direct transferrable skills.  
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, advanced knowledge in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability and willingness to travel to various services and locations for visits and events
• Ability to carry out research and lead on outreach and partnership building initiatives in various locations which can include locations of rural communities
• Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
• Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people who experience multiple complex disadvantages

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FUNDRAISING

• Be a point of contact for fundraising, ensuring a positive experience for funders and managing financial transactions to agreed fundraising policies and processes.
• Develop a regional Grant Programme, focusing on unrestricted income and feeding into fundraising management reporting. 
• Identify, research, and communicate income and partnership opportunities, working proactively with colleagues across the Group to scope fundable initiatives that provide added value. 
• Work alongside the team to develop high-quality grant funding applications, cases for support, and budgets. Complete the end-to-end process, ensuring all applications are thorough and competitive.
• Oversee grant reporting and invoicing, ensuring prompt fulfilment in line with all grant agreements and reporting requirements, liaising with relevant teams across the Group. 
• Plan, implement and manage various campaigns and activities, which may include but are not limited to local events, national events, outreach, and fundraising opportunities.

PARTNERSHIP BUILDING

• Attend networking events to build engagement and partnerships with local and national organisations.
• Build a rolling calendar of charity of the year application deadlines. Provide excellent stewardship, using innovative ways to keep all parties engaged and informed of relevant news and updates by SIG.
• Support partners in fundraising endeavours and signposting to new and existing opportunities.

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience in writing successful grant applications to Charitable Trusts and Foundations
• Previous experience working in a customer-facing role
• Professional Qualification in a relevant discipline which can include Marketing, English, Business Management
• Experience in a similar size organisation and/or charity sector organisation
• Confidence in presenting to varying audiences
• Proficiency in navigating online and offline fundraising tools and systems
• Knowledge of Health and Social Care, Best Practice, and the support needs of vulnerable people within society

We need an events manager who is adept at managing projects and events, working with our fundraisers and encouraging our supporters to get involved in our events such as our annual trek, the prestigious Care Sector Ball, and all the other events we’re involved in. The right person will have the confidence and persistence it takes to persuade, cajole, prod and encourage fundraisers to do as much as they can to raise funds for us. You need to be proficient at managing the admin that goes with events, including using fundraising platforms such as Just Giving and Enthuse to engage with fundraisers and provide regular reports on the income raised. We will also need you to organize hotel, travel, conference arrangements for the team.

You must be based in England, to help us keep travel costs down as much as possible. The role is home based, with travel to fundraising events, conferences and network meetings, and with travel every 10 weeks or so to central London for team meetings.

 You must be a determined self-reliant professional though also a team player, to effectively coordinate and execute events and other activities, and be passionate about events management and fundraising to enable us to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

• Determination and a ‘can do’ attitude
• Well developed interpersonal skills, particularly around negotiation, persuasion, motivational and collaborative attributes
• Experience of managing fundraising platforms such as Just Giving and Enthuse

• Experience in event management, preferably in the charity sector, and be able to demonstrate a strong track record in fundraising and achieving financial targets.

As digital content officer, you’ll design, edit and optimise our web content to help our users feel empowered throughout their breast cancer experience.

From personal stories and blogs to landing pages and webforms, you’ll support teams across the charity and lead the content creation for some of our key projects and campaigns.

You’ll also help set the standard of content on the new website by training teams on new processes on the new CMS and coaching them on web best practices.

What the job involves

As Communications Planning Manager you’ll be reviewing all incoming internal communications briefs, ensuring they have clear objectives, audiences, and timelines, and are aligned to organisational priorities and goals. You’ll be responsible for leading as well as updating, when necessary, our briefing and communications team process.

You’ll be responsible for workflows across the communications directorate, having oversight of capacity, prioritising and scheduling work accordingly. You’ll support annual business and resource planning; helping the organisation prioritise and understand the potential impact vs effort in business decisions.

To ensure our teams can work at their optimum we’re currently updating our approach to communications processes, including updating our project management tools, prioritisation structure and our wider programme management office.

What we want from you

To be successful in the role you’ll need to have exceptional organisational skills and be a strategic thinker who thrives on implementing and driving new processes to deliver efficiency.

You’ll have demonstrable experience with stakeholder and relationship management – building rapport at all levels, managing conflicting priorities and ensuring effective use of resources. In reviewing briefs you’ll be comfortable in challenging the details provided and developing briefs with product owners to ensure resources are being used effectively.

A background in marketing communications or similar would be ideal for understanding the needs from the start in developing effective campaigns. Experience in using workflow tools (like Trello) or Agile methodologies will be desirable but not essential.

The Prince of Wales Hospice provides specialist palliative care for adults with a terminal diagnosis, and those around them. The hospice offers a 14-bedroom ward for patients who need round the clock care as well as a Wellbeing service – in total The Prince of Wales Hospice cares for over 300 people a year! Despite costing £12,000 a day to run the hospice and £4m a year, all of the services are entirely free of charge to patients and their families.

The Role

Volunteers support the delivery of the services at The Prince of Wales Hospice, their charity retail shops and fundraising activities. The Volunteer Officer role is an exciting new position, working with approximately 250 volunteers and coordinating volunteer activities. You will play an integral role in designing, delivering and effectively implementing volunteer management processes including promotion, recruitment, induction, training, ongoing support and management of volunteers.

Duties include:

• Actively promoting volunteering opportunities ensuring information is accurate
• Working closely with managers to drive and support volunteer recruitment
•  Supervising reception volunteers to deliver a high quality, professional and safe reception service in the Hospice.

The Person

We are looking for a personable and approachable individual, wanting a unique and worthwhile role in volunteer management. As you will be developing new processes and policies, proven experience of working with volunteers is highly desirable. You should be flexible and organised with an ability to work with different teams as well as on your own initiative. With the ability to thrive in a busy environment, you should be able to deal with conflicting priorities and deadlines and should have the skills and confidence to speak with and lead small groups.

Role: The Forces Employment Charity (FEC) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Specialist Employment Consultant to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate and coordinate employment case-working support for CTP (Assist), Service Leavers (SLs) and Veterans, up to 2 years post-discharge and job role reports to CTP (Assist) Manager. The goal is to assist them in finding appropriate and sustainable civilian employment or other suitable vocational outcomes.

The Role is based at MoD Personnel Recovery Centre (Catterick) / MoD Personnel Recovery Unit (PRU Catterick) and hybrid.

This part-time, permanent position involves a 28-hour work week and offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of Service Leavers (SLs) and Veterans.

• As a member of the Recovery Units CTP (Assist) casework handling team, work with relevant MoD staff to deliver the employment aspects of CTP (Assist) Individual Recovery Plans (IRPs).
• Act as the CTP (Assist) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to PRU staff and local units, working alongside another SEC.
• Provide career, employment advice and guidance to allocated CTP (Assist) clients in accordance with their IRPs and Vocational Assessment (VA) provided under CTP.
• Coordinate CTP (Assist) client access to training opportunities, supporting their applications for additional training grants as necessary.
• Identify and source suitable Personnel on Recovery Duty (PRD) specific work based training and work experience opportunities within the geographical area in accordance with their IRPs. 
• Ensure all CTP (Assist) employment, training and vocational opportunities sourced are fed into the affiliated regional Employer Relationship Manager (ERM), thus ensuring a joined up and integrated CTP employer engagement approach.
• Delivery/Facilitation of SEC components of Recovery Transition Workshop courses and support CTW+/CRE courses as requested.
• Identify and subsequently engage with Training and Adult Education providers to identify opportunities that meet clients’ requirements in accordance with IRPs.
• As required, provide in work support to ensure client vocational outcomes are sustainable.
• Monitor successful employment placement success for CTP (Assist) clients as a key component of overall outcomes.
• When required and appropriate, work closely with regional teams such as:

•            CTP Regional Resettlement Centre (RRC) & Career Consultants (CCs)

•             Future Horizon Employment Advisor (s)

•             FEC Ex-Forces Employment Advisors (Veterans)

• Maintain accuracy and integrity in all interactions with the CTP BMS, Job site, and the CTP website and tools, ensuring timely recording of all client and employer engagement activity.
• Attend MDT’s and work with wider organisations in order to support the PRD you are working with (when required).

As Project Support Officer you will support the London & South East Area Manager and Regional Managers with volunteer recruitment, documentation of training, giving our volunteers a fantastic experience, guest outreach and giving extra support to our London & South East projects as and when required to aid development and growth within the region.

Each of our Projects is run by Project Leaders (volunteer position) and supported by Regional Managers through recruitment and training of volunteers. Your will support the Regional Managers so that they can manage more projects, knowing that you have helped with the embedding of volunteers, along with supporting expansion plans within their areas. This support could range from developing relationships with our food suppliers, researching local organisations to support with guest outreach, and recruiting new Project Leaders for the Area.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to talk confidently to external people about our Projects. You will also be a good organizer, with the ability to manage multiple tasks within multiple Projects. You will have a passion for food and cooking, and be committed to our objectives and ethics.

This role will require some attendance at our Community Meals projects, to support with delivery as necessary, which will include evening and weekend work. As well as projects across London, our South East projects include Southampton, Portsmouth, Aylesbury and exciting new openings in Slough and Reading in 2024.

First Days was started in 2013 in response to needs in the local community in Berkshire. Quite simply: there were people with stuff they didn't need and people who desperately needed it. The Director of Fundraising and Engagement plays a crucial part in helping us achieve our vision that no family whose child has cancer, or a life-challenging condition should have to cope alone.  With an ambitious fundraising aim over the next 3 years, you will be leading a dedicated Fundraising and Engagement team to generate in excess of £1.2million income annually.

As a vital part of the Senior Management Team, you will report directly to the CEO. PCA is a national charity, dedicated to saving lives through early diagnosis. This new post has a pivotal role to play in developing and implementing PR and communications strategies that will raise awareness and support the generation of income across the UK.  

You need to be able to generate emotive and persuasive copy, and have the ability to engage journalists and produce a variety of content for both print and digital communications channels. You will also manage the UK Press Office and proactively place a variety of stories and expert speakers to raise the profile of PCA across local, regional and national media.

Press and PR:
