Community Builder (Community Development) – Portsmouth

Salary: Up to £33,995 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for a COMMUNITY BUILDER to join our Community Development team working to support local veterans to take an active role in their communities. If you believe in the power of strong, connected communities, this role is for you.

About The Role  

As a Community Builder, you will be at the heart of our charity’s ambition to reach seldom-heard members of the Armed-forces Community (AFC) and engage them in creating positive action that strengthens wider connections. 

You will identify the strengths, passions and interests within the AFC, foster meaningful connections with the wider community, and utilise these to create meaningful and sustainable outcomes.  

About You  

You will be a highly motivated and dynamic individual who is passionate about collaboration and community-led change.  You will have experience of engaging and supporting people in a community, charity, education, social care, housing, youth work, or other people-focused role using a range of facilitation tools, techniques and Community Development skills. You will need experience of working in a community setting with a diverse range of people and interests. You will have good organisational skills, energy and the ability to listen, build relationships, and inspire collaboration, which will be essential in creating positive, lasting change.

We are looking for someone with:  

• A Community Development qualification and/or transferable Community Development skills and experience.

• A basic understanding of the Asset-Based Community Development approach (ABCD) is required however full support and development of this practice and our internal ways of working will be provided.    

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships that drive action.  

• A track record of successful collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders.  

• Effective and efficient organisational and IT skills. 

PLEASE NOTE:  

• The successful candidate will need to be based within a 30-minute commute of their allocated locality and there is a requirement to travel regularly across the wider area (travel expenses covered).  The successful candidate must possess a valid full UK driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes.  

• There will also be a requirement for occasional travel to other UK locations for meetings and events depending on the charity’s needs such as our annual all colleagues in person event.   

• The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week over 5 days, Monday - Sunday. Core working days will be Monday to Friday; however, flexibility is essential, as regular evening and weekend work will also be required to meet the needs of the role. Working hours will vary to ensure a total of 70 hours is covered over a two-week period, so please take this into consideration before applying.

Head of Programmes is a key role with significant scope to grow as the charity evolves. You’ll lead on the day-to-day delivery of our programmes, including our largest single programme, Maths Circles: a small-group-based maths enrichment programme engaging talented young mathematicians nationwide. You will coordinate a large community of volunteers as well as our in-house team of part-time and freelance staff to deliver an excellent experience for students, parents, tutors and partners.

You will need to be genuinely enthusiastic about using our CRM and Google Sheets to track progress and excited about martialling the charity’s data to communicate clearly with colleagues, partners and trustees. You will take ownership of programme reporting and KPIs, using insights to identify and implement delivery improvements and demonstrate impact.

You will communicate regularly with our diverse community – including speaking directly to young people and parents to resolve issues, recruiting and training education professionals and meeting with partners to organise and manage projects. Beyond programme delivery, you’ll play a crucial part in fundraising, communications, recruitment and planning and will occasionally deputise for the Foundation Director in representing the charity externally.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of programme operations
• Drive impact by setting, monitoring and reporting on KPIs (e.g. attendance, retention, satisfaction) whilst sharing insights with partners and funders
• Coordinate and support a team of part-time staff, freelancers and delivery contractors
• Lead communications with parents, students, tutors and external partners
• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (training provided)
• Support fundraising, charity development and strategic planning
• Support recruitment and onboarding of staff, volunteers and collaborators
• Contribute to newsletters, social media, and other communications content

The Role

Young Trustees Movement is looking for Freelance Trainers to help us deliver our suite of trainings and shake up the charity sector from the inside. Our Freelance Trainers will deliver our trainings Board Boost (for young people) and Across the Board (for charity boards), as well as occasional bespoke sessions for a variety of clients. About This Job

As Fundraising Assistant at sister charities, ACCT UK and CCFA, you will play a key role in the growth of existing fundraising and in the creation of new income streams. Stewarding fundraisers, helping to develop new and existing fundraising campaigns, building relationships internally within the cadet organisations and externally with Trusts and Foundations, corporates and major givers. You will provide administrative and operational support, including maintaining the fundraising database. Role overview

Leadership & Team Support

· Manage a team of Family Support Workers.

· Oversee caseloads and conduct monthly reviews.

· Ensure regular hospital visits are co-ordinated and met as planned, adjusting in line with need. 

· Support the allocation of referrals across the team to make sure families receive timely and appropriate support.

· Contribute to the recruitment, supervision, and development of Family Support Workers.

· Deputise for the Family Support Manager when needed, including leading team meetings and taking minutes.

· Participate in the weekend on-call rota.

Family Support Delivery

· Hold a small caseload, providing empathetic, non-judgemental emotional and practical, needs-led, support.

· Plan and attend family events, working with external suppliers where needed.

· Provide regular visits to nominated hospitals and ensure families are linked in with appropriate services.

· Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, safeguarding boards, and service planning discussions.

Hospital & Community Partnerships

· Build and maintain strong working relationships with hospital teams and community partners.

· Maintain regular contact with paediatric teams to share patient updates and identify new needs.

· Deliver presentations and training to raise awareness of Momentum.

· Identify new partnership and referral opportunities in clinical and community settings.

· Support the transition of hospital services from the Royal Marsden to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

Service Monitoring & Development

· Support the Family Support Manager in delivering service outcomes and contributing to operational planning.

· Assist in monitoring budgets and ensuring services align with the operational plan.

· Maintain accurate and timely records to support reporting requirements.

· Provide case studies and updates to support fundraising and communications.

Organisational Contribution

We are excited to be searching for an experienced HR professional to join our agile and dynamic team. With the launch of our ambitious 15-year strategic vision in 2025, we’re entering an exciting phase where the People Team plays a pivotal role in shaping the culture needed to deliver on that vision.

You will lead the end-to-end implementation of a new HRIS platform and drive a comprehensive review of HR policies. This is a pivotal role shaping the digital backbone and compliance framework of our People function.

You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition from legacy systems, while developing policies that are compliant, inclusive, and future-ready.

You will be an experienced HR professional with hands-on experience leading projects and implementing HR systems. You understand how policy, people, and tech come together to build a compliant, agile, and inclusive HR function.

Counsellor

We are seeking an experienced BACP accredited Counsellor to join our friendly counselling team at the UK’s leading support charity for people living with chronic kidney disease (CKD). You will provide professional psychological support to adults through a series of regular counselling sessions to help bring about effective change and improve client wellbeing.

Based remotely, or working in our office in Alton Hampshire, you will deliver sessions by telephone or online, working with clients facing challenging issues. We'll provide training to develop your knowledge of the impact of kidney disease as well as CPD opportunities, regular internal case reviews and shared learning sessions

The role

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled IT Systems Administrator.

As the IT System Administrator, you will be responsible for the development, administration and optimisation of Cruse’s Microsoft 365 environment and wider IT cloud infrastructure.

Working closely with the Head of IT, and the wider Digital Services team of 5 staff, you will ensure our systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with the needs of our staff and volunteers.

Cruse operates a cloud IT infrastructure providing IT services to staff and volunteers based across the UK and Northern Ireland. Microsoft 365 is the main IT service, but there will also be other IT systems you will need to become familiar with in this role.

Cruse makes use of a managed services IT support provider and numerous application and service provider support teams; you will be required to work with these teams making sure our issues are resolved quickly and with minimum disruption.

As part of your role, you will be involved in BAU and project work and be comfortable with competing priorities and pressures.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to advance their technical skills and experience. Where they will have input into the development of the IT systems, working with an experienced and dedicated Head of IT and digital team, for a charity that is investing in its digital strategy and services.
