Glasgow’s Helping Heroes (GHH) is based in the Pearce Institute in Glasgow, and operates as a partnership between SSAFA and Glasgow City Council to be a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need.

About the role

The Peer Support Workers at GHH manage their own caseload and provide advice and advocacy across a range of areas including financial assistance, grant applications via our dedicated system, welfare benefits navigation, priority debt management, mental health pathway navigation, housing, and homelessness. The Peer Support Workers are the main point of contact for those seeking support to reduce homelessness and work closely with our Homeless & Housing team to help beneficiaries maintain their tenancies through proactive support and additionally collaborate with our in-house Citizens Advice Scotland service.

No two days are the same at GHH, which currently runs three beneficiary-focused projects: Glasgow’s Veterans United, a football and wellbeing initiative; MIRRORS, a project for those potentially at risk of dementia which includes various activities across Glasgow and a 10-week language course; There will also be opportunities to co-produce and develop future initiatives for the Armed Forces community.

About the team

GHH provides a single point of contact through a gateway model, enhancing local access to a wide range of services. These include support with financial matters, housing and homelessness, employability, and more. The team currently operates from their office in Govan, with the flexibility to work remotely one day per week. Outreach work is also carried out across the city to ensure wider community engagement.

The GHH team works closely with a broad network of internal and external partners, including local SSAFA branches and the Scottish Support Office, Citizens Advice Scotland, Veterans Housing Scotland, Erskine Veterans Village, Scottish Veterans Residences, and Defence Medical Welfare Services.

About you

As a Peer Support Worker at GHH, you will deliver a high-quality, holistic service to our beneficiaries—members of the Armed Forces community in Glasgow.

This is a dynamic and rewarding position suited to someone who is proactive, compassionate, and committed to making a difference. You’ll need to be motivated, enthusiastic, and creative, with strong organisational skills and the initiative to manage tasks independently. While an awareness of the Armed Forces community and the wider third sector is desirable, what matters most is your ability to demonstrate the same outstanding qualities as our current team: strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a genuine desire to support others.

You will manage a varied caseload, offering holistic advice and support on complex issues such as financial assistance, education, employment, and wellbeing. Working closely with colleagues and partner organisations, you will ensure clients receive the right practical and emotional support. This will include submitting applications for financial assistance to service charities and other relevant bodies, using your knowledge of charitable and statutory services to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.

You will be available to work either four days per week (Tuesday to Friday) or three days per week (including Friday), starting at 09:30 each day.

Summary of the role:

The Supporter Relations Engagement Team is involved in the planning and development of programmes and projects that puts supporter engagement at the heart of everything do we do. They play a pivotal role in making Muslim Aid more data and insight driven in the way we fundraise and communicate with supporters. The team’s aim is to increase the depth and value of supporter relationships whilst also encouraging repeat giving and overall supporter retention through targeted engagement strategies.

Working within the Supporter Relations Engagement Team, you will develop a supporter centric approach to planning effective multi-channel, multi-product supporter journeys to grow loyalty, engagement, and income.  We are looking for someone with an audience and data insight driven approach to identify moments that matter and key touch points to improve the supporter experience. By doing this, you will ensure that each touchpoint across the supporter experience is engaging, effective and reflects Muslim Aids brand and values.

As a confident communicator you will help develop a culture based on understanding and interpreting supporter behaviours and motivations. Using this information, you will lead on mapping journeys and engagements across communications, campaigns and the fundraising portfolio to maximise a supporter’s lifetime value.

About the Role:

1. Create new innovative supporter journeys to increase engagement, loyalty and improve income generation.
2. Deliver improved supporter journeys and care strategies using insights, evidence and feedback.
3. Deliver exemplary Supporter care and stewardship that builds loyal and committed supporters through high quality personalised engagement.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

3. Experience of working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.

Job Description

We seek a skilled and proactive fundraiser to support LP in submitting funding applications to support its partnership with LPD and developing long-term fundraising capacity. The first key task will be to collaborate with both organisations to create a strategic fundraising plan aligned with our programmes, with a strong emphasis on championing play and supporting adventure playgrounds in continuing their essential community work.

Key responsibilities will include developing and implementing a fundraising strategy to secure income from a diverse range of sources; and researching, identifying, developing and submitting funding applications and proposals to relevant trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies.

The ideal applicant will have at least five years’ experience in fundraising, donor development, or grant writing – ideally including partnership arrangements – as well as a demonstrable understanding of the value of play and the outcomes it contributes to for children and for communities. They will be highly organised, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to achieve income targets and meet application deadlines.

We resource, connect and champion a network of over 5300 Warm Welcome Spaces and bring together a growing coalition of local, regional, and national partners representing the worlds of charity, faith, business, government, and philanthropy. The Opportunity

To support the range and depth of partnerships we have and the potential we see, we are looking for a Partnerships Manager to work primarily on building partnerships with Local Authorities and public sector organisations, charities and social enterprises, faith-based and inclusion-focused organisations and other groups who might help us strategically grow and resource the Warm Welcome network across the UK (NB Corporate Partnerships are managed by our newly appointed Fundraising Lead for Corporates). The Partnerships Manager will also help develop our support for Warm Welcome Spaces, including overseeing our Champions Programme which offers more intense support and a Community of Practice to a smaller cohort of local groups. 

We’re looking for someone who thrives on the variety of connecting with a huge range of people and who is organised and systematic while at the same time has room for creativity and innovation.

Joining during an exciting period of growth, you will be inheriting a hugely diverse and highly engaged coalition of Warm Welcome Partners who have supported the campaign and local Spaces over the last 2 and a half years. At the same time, there remains a huge untapped potential in terms of possible partners and relationships to be developed and you will be working together with the Campaign Director and team to strategically identify and develop these new connections.

Responsibilities

Building Partnerships

● Developing our Partnership Strategy to identify and engage the best potential partners to help us grow the network and reach our ambition of 100% of the population living within a 30-minute walk of a registered Warm Welcome Space. This will involve identifying and engaging partners in geographical ‘cold spots’ for the network (utilising our mapping tool developed with UCL), as well as forming partnerships to unlock new or under-represented types of Warm Welcome Spaces (e.g. Housing Association Community Spaces, cinemas, community spaces created by new housing developments etc).

● Leading the development of our Local Co-ordinators Cluster which brings together Local Authorities and others who are leading place-based networks of community spaces.

● Overseeing and developing the Champions Programme, providing more intensive support and connections to a smaller cohort of Warm Welcome Spaces.

Engagement and Inclusion

● Developing our Inclusion Strategy to identify and engage the best potential partners to diversify our Coalition and support local Spaces to become more accessible and inclusive.

● Working with the team to develop regular engagement activities for Warm Welcome Partners.

● Producing compelling communications (written and verbal) to promote the work of the Warm Welcome Campaign and grow the depth and breadth of partnerships - to include but not limited to partnership proposals, pitches and reports.

Good Practices, Standards and Systems

● Supporting, maintaining and developing existing partnerships and manage the systems (including CRM use) needed for excellent partnerships delivery, stewardship and development.

● Leading Warm Welcome Space good practice and driving up quality standards across the network, including through developing a Warm Welcome Awards programme.

● Promoting good practice in volunteering and supporting Spaces to maximise and grow volunteering opportunities.

● Working with the team and, using our new CRM, track, measure and analyse our partnerships delivery.

● Supporting the delivery of other Warm Welcome efforts, as appropriate

Reporting to the Campaign Operations Director, you will work closely with them and other Senior Directors to grow the range and impact of Warm Welcome partnerships. The role will also work closely with the Communications team and with our two Warm Welcome Co-ordinators who deliver our Champions programme and provide a direct link between the campaign and Warm Welcome Spaces.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to drive policy development across our policy priority areas. The Policy Officer will lead on specific policy projects, commissioning research, developing policy positions, and producing reports and consultation responses.

This role will cover a broad range of issues across one of our strategic goals – prevention and diagnosis; access to treatment; and living well with arthritis. Our approach considers the needs of people of all ages who have arthritis.

Key Responsibilities

Partnership liaison and relationship management

• Build and implement a strategy for developing relationships with local referral agencies to ensure recruitment of young people onto the Spear Programme is effective.
• Maintain and develop relationships with local partners to form a strong referral network and create opportunities for volunteering, and jobs for Spear completers.
• Assist the Spear Trust in implementing their funding strategy by supporting with corporate relationships, and hosting local partners and donors on visits to the Training Room.

Oversight of the Spear Programme

Line management and training

• Manage the Spear Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development.
• Be line managed by Resurgo to support with the ongoing operations of the centre and report back on KPIs.

Church Community

• Spear South Wales is run in partnership with Citizen Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community.
• You will be required to establish a personal presence withing the community as your regular place of worship, and supprot the Spear Coach and Spear Trust in buildiing a strong and committed network of supporters int he partner church to help source employment, funding and volunteer opportunities for Spear.
