Our partner is a fast-growing charity that prepares young children in rural Ghana and Uganda for school, empowering marginalised mothers to run educational play schemes to improve children’s development and reduce malnutrition.

They are seeking a qualified accountant to join them as Treasurer and oversee all financial aspects of the charity. You will monitor cash flow, income, expenses, and strategic resource management, ensuring sound governance and compliance with charity regulations.

The Treasurer will chair the Finance and Audit Committee, oversee risk management, and guide the preparation of year-end accounts. You will also advise Trustees and help communicate financial information clearly to the Board.

The Board meets quarterly, with the Finance & Audit Committee meeting approximately 10 days beforehand, all online besides an annual in-person meeting in London. The total estimated time commitment required for the role is 1-3 hours per week.

In this critical initial phase, you will be responsible for:

• Driving Fundraising Strategy: Actively seeking and securing initial seed funding to enable the charity's launch.

• Programme Development: Refining and preparing our mentoring, personal development, and employability programmes for launch.

• Recruiting Key Volunteers: Attracting and onboarding our initial cohort of mentors and operational volunteers.

• Steering, Directing and Guiding REMIX: Leading the day to day aspects of the management of REMIX, including steering and guiding the team to make REMIX a huge success.

The Charity runs an SEMH School, and we are seeking several volunteers to join our current team of Trustees and Governors.

The Charity requires Trustees who will:

· Take a strategic role on the Board, holding the Senior Management Team (SMT) to the ethos and principles of the Charity in line with its founding documents.

· Provide support and balanced guidance to the SMT, acting as a critical friend.

· Ensure accountability of the SMT, regarding financial management.

· Provide challenge in a measured and open way.

Governors will be concerned with the school only.

Volunteers can opt to be both a Trustee and a Governor, or just one or the other.

These roles are voluntary; however, the Charity does require a level of commitment for the role. Our Trustees and Governors meet up to 4 evenings per year for full Board / Governor meetings. There are also termly monitoring visits for Governors. Full induction and ongoing training will be provided; a mentor from the existing board will be assigned so that you are supported fully.

Many companies encourage employees to volunteer in this way as part of their corporate social responsibility policies, allowing attendance at our meetings without affecting other terms and conditions (if you are currently employed, please check with your own HR department who can provide further details).

Trustees and Governors will be able to claim expenses providing they are incurred in carrying out their duties as a Trustee and / or Governor.

Make a difference to the lives of rescue cats! We have a number of roles within our cat rescue based in York. 

Home visitors

Join our fantastic volunteer team to help us improve the welfare & quality of life for the cats & kittens in our care.

Our home visit volunteers help us to assess each home environment and a families circumstances to ensure our cats are suitably matched to their new family. This is a vital step in our rehoming process to ensure our cats get the happy ending they deserve.​

You can dedicate as much or as little of your free time to this role- picking up outstanding home visits as and when you can.

This role can also be done remotely (from home) if necessary or preferred.

We rely on our fantastic team of dedicated volunteers to continue our work and would love for you to join us.

Fundraising

We are looking for cat loving people with a little free time and lots of ideas to join our fundraising team!
 

This role includes all aspects of fundraising including organising and taking charge of ideas/ events with the support of the wider team and helping out at events. 

We need your help to raise much needed funds to support the work that we do and help give cats and kittens in need a better future. 

Fostering

Join our fantastic volunteer team to help us improve the welfare and quality of life of cats & kittens in our care.​

We are looking for people to join our wonderful supportive team of foster carers! 

Caring for cats/ kittens in your home while they undergo rehabilitation and wait to be adopted doesn't cost you a penny. We provide full training & support along the way.

Transport Volunteers

We are always looking for transport volunteers to join our team. This role involves transporting animals, equipment and donations too and from various locations in and around the York area. We may also occasionally need help transporting cats and equipment from further afield. 

Purpose of the Role

 To bring senior-level fundraising expertise to the Board of Trustees, advising and supporting Momentum’s income generation strategies and providing constructive challenge and oversight of the charity’s fundraising activities.

 Key Responsibilities

 §  Provide expert advice, guidance and strategic input to the Board and senior leadership on all aspects of fundraising.

§  Support the ongoing development of Momentum’s multi-stream fundraising strategy (including major donors, corporate partnerships, trusts & foundations, events, community fundraising, legacies, and digital fundraising).

§  Monitor fundraising performance against targets and ensure fundraising activities remain compliant with relevant regulations (Fundraising Regulator, Charity Commission, GDPR, etc).

§  Act as a mentor and sounding board to the Director of Fundraising & Engagement and CEO.

§  Contribute ideas and insights to help the charity identify new opportunities for sustainable income growth.

§  Where appropriate, assist with the stewardship of key supporters or donors.

§  Fulfil all general trustee duties, including attending Board meetings, contributing to governance and strategic decision-making, and upholding the charity’s values and safeguarding responsibilities.

Our Mission

Brain tumours do not discriminate, and they do not respect boundaries. They can strike anyone, at any age. And they strike quickly. The Marketing team at The Brain Tumour Charity want to capture more high quality photos of our fundraisers and supporters. Not only do our photos capture the brain tumour community and their amazing efforts to help find cures but they also help create more awareness and engagement of our cause.

How can you help?

As a Volunteer Photographer, you will be present at big fundraising events or carrying out photoshoots with our supporters. This role requires that you are quick to capture those blink-and-you-miss-it moments! Other requirements include:

• Potentially walking a large amount of steps at some events if you are able (The Twilight Walk in London, for example)
• Being prepared for different weather conditions
• Taking portraits and group shots of fundraisers when asked by them
• Sending photos (unedited or edited) via wetransfer or another sharing platform soon after the event has ended

What impact will you have?

Your photos will capture the atmosphere and excitement of big events as well as the emotions that come with fundraisers. Capturing and displaying our community is a key concern for The Charity and your photos make an impact in reaching our goals. Your photos could also be featured on our website, social media and external news outlets with full credit given.

We’re looking for...

Individuals with technical experience in photography, whether that is buddying hobbyists or professionals looking to volunteer their time. You will also need:

• To have your own photography equipment
• An ability to direct people to get the right shot
• An ability to work autonomously

Time commitment

We have opportunities to volunteer all across the UK, but we would work with you to ensure that we only offer opportunities within a reasonable travelling distance and therefore the number of opportunities available will be dependent on your location.

Practical considerations

You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the team, who will be your key contact. Volunteers will be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18.  We encourage volunteers to claim for any reasonable expenses that are incurred in the course of their volunteering with the Charity.

About us:

Sobell House is a hospice based on the Churchill Hospital site and is part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is jointly funded by the NHS and Sobell House Hospice Charity. We offer specialist palliative care to those facing life threatening illness, death and bereavement in Oxfordshire. This encompasses physical, psychological, social and spiritual care and includes supporting their families and those close to them. We care for around 3,000 patients and their families every year. The Charity contributes funding towards the care provided at Sobell House and also entirely funds the transport service, bereavement support, social work team and chaplaincy service.

About Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity

Background

Founded in 2003 and originally named Andrea’s Gift and later Brain Tumour Research and Support

Across Yorkshire, Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity (YBTC) is Yorkshire and Humber’s leading

brain tumour charity. Offering practical, financial and emotional support to both adult and child

brain tumour patients, together with their families.

We fund brain tumour research in Yorkshire; we hope this research, dedicated to identifying new

approaches to the discovery and treatment of brain tumours, will improve outcomes for patients.

At YBTC we are a small team who are growing to meet the needs of those affected by a brain

tumour in Yorkshire. Around 15 new cases of primary brain tumour are diagnosed in the region

every week.

To improve the lives of people impacted by a brain tumour in Yorkshire, through local support and research.

Our partner provides practical support and financial assistance to people forced to travel to access abortion care, operating across Europe and beyond, whilst working towards a future where safe, legal abortion is accessible to all.

They are seeking a Treasurer with strong finance and accounting experience to join the Board of Trustees. The Treasurer will provide oversight of financial strategy, risk and compliance, review management accounts and budgets, and support the preparation of annual accounts in collaboration with the staff team and bookkeeper.

The post-holder will bring charity governance experience, commercial awareness, and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial trustees. A commitment to the organisation’s pro-abortion, feminist and anti-oppressive values is essential.

The Board meets remotely every six weeks, with an additional monthly Governance Working Group meeting. Occasional in-person gatherings may take place every couple of years. The time commitment is approximately 5 hours per month.

Community researchers wanted to help East London Waterworks Park ensure our community-owned park is inclusive and welcoming for all.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for community researchers specialised to contribute to our community-led working circle who are working on on a listening project to ensure often underrepresented voices in conservation and environmental projects are heard and centred. 

There is opportunity to lead on projects and facilitate the direction of the working circle.

The Inclusivity Circle currently meets monthly on a Wednesday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

While your experienced research skills are crucial, we also value your ability to engage with the community and build partnerships. Experience in conducting community-based research or working with community organisations is important. A strong understanding of community dynamics and the ability to collaborate effectively will be invaluable in ensuring your research findings are relevant and impactful. Our roles are quite flexible. We hope that people bring radical imagination, peace with nature, and courageous inclusiveness to the role. 

Contribute to the creation of a new biodiverse community-owned park with free access natural swimming ponds. Your research expertise will be vital in shaping our new biodiverse park. By conducting listening research on community needs, and potential park uses, you'll help us create a sustainable and inclusive space. Your findings will inform our design, programming, and outreach efforts, ensuring the park meets the needs of our community and contributes to biodiversity conservation.
