We are looking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to build on our successes to date and lead the charity in its pioneering work.

This is an opportunity to join a passionate, dedicated team working to make positive change across Sheffield’s communities and the wider region.

As the charity’s most senior employee, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the charity’s work. You will report to the Board of Trustees and work with them to shape the strategic direction of the charity in supporting LGBTQ+ young people.

You will bring with you a comprehensive awareness and understanding of the key issues and challenges faced by LGBTQ+ young people and communities and be responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders and the wider public. You will also be a confident public speaker, representing the charity at events and in the media, and in the delivery of consultancy and advice work.

You will also have a strong track record of effective financial management, income generation from a diverse range of sources and monitoring and evaluating work for grant and contract funders.

In addition to all of these skills and attributes you will be able to bring your extensive leadership experience to the role, overseeing a skilled team of project and development workers and volunteers, and providing direct line management to our charity managers.

Operations Director

Children North East is a growing charity, working to ensure that all babies, children and young people have the opportunity to grow up happy and healthy. The charity as a whole has been through a transformative restructure and due to this transformation the charity has grown substantially since 2019. Our Operational area will be led by two Directors an Operations Director and an Operations Development Director.

The current Operations Director has now been appointed internally as the Operations Development Director, this role will focus on system change including research, data, growth and further our development on specific pieces of work. This will include growing the demographics of children we work with to help us to meet their needs, changing reactionary work into intervention work and will lead on the following:
• CNE voice work – supporting babies children and young people to have a voice in the work that we do at CNE.
• Developing, implementing and leading on our training offer – in house online packages.
• Leading on new operational developments – research, scoping, pilots and evaluation.
• Driving forward our current work – regionally and nationally – stakeholder engagement, scoping new geographical areas for
development actively selling our work.
• Influencing and campaigning – working alongside policy/campaigning led by CNE, influencing external networks and systems.

The Operations Director will ensure that our current and future strategies will enable us to meet our ambitions. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive the charity forward in meeting the end of its current 5 year strategy and be part of the development of the next 5 year strategy. You will create good working relationships with your senior leaders and Operational Leads and you will have a whole charity approach to the work required.

This role will Lead our Operational Leads to deliver the excellent services that sit within their portfolios including the following teams:

• Therapeutic including Counselling
• Communities
• Poverty Proofing

The Operations Director role will ensure the income, safety and quality of our services are delivered to the highest standards. With key leadership qualities, this role will ensure the sustainability of our services and work collaboratively with SLT to reach its ambitions of our current and future strategies. There will be specific collaboration with the Operations Development Director to ensure that once our seed and pilot work is established it is moved forward into Operations within the charity to benefit all of the people we work with. This role is also expected to inform the Operations Development Director of key themes/gaps in services that have been recognised through current service delivery work.

Shepway Citizens Advice is seeking a new Chief Officer to replace the current very successful incumbent who intends to move on later this year.

The Chief Officer’s role is demanding and extremely rewarding – ensuring the organisation evolves to meet current challenges and leading its efforts to secure resources and work with partners to provide an excellent advice service for our community in Folkestone and Hythe and the surrounding area.

The Chief Officer will ensure that Shepway Citizens Advice continues to deliver free, independent, impartial and confidential advice services that meet the needs of our local community.

The Chief Officer will be responsible for leading and managing a team of paid staff and volunteers. The successful candidate will have proven leadership and management experience. They will be well-versed in strategic development and planning, financial and operational management, income generation, external relationships, and people management.  

The Chief Officer will promote and represent Shepway Citizens Advice by working actively and constructively with external partners and local agencies. They will need to maintain and develop our existing relationships with funders and identify new sources of funding and resources.

For over 40 years, Being There, a medium sized charity, has provided practical, emotional and social support to those affected by life limiting illnesses across much of Greater Manchester. The services of the charity are delivered by an enthusiastic cohort of volunteers managed by an established and capable management team.

After steering Being There though the Pandemic and the recent economic impact on charities, our long serving CEO, Karen Mercer, is retiring. We are therefore looking to recruit a new leader for our team.

RAFT Research Programme Consortium Chief Executive Officer (0.6FTE)

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

The LSHTM is searching for a CEO to help in the management of the ‘Resilience Against Future Threats’ (RAFT) Research Programme Consortium (RPC). RAFT is funded by FCDO, and its mission is research that will be of practical benefit to national programmes for the control of vector-borne diseases especially malaria. The Consortium partners are the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the Centre for Research into Infectious Disease Cameroon, the Institut Pierre Richet in Côte d'Ivoire, the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanzania, the Faculty of Tropical Medicine of Mahidol University in Thailand, and the Malaria Consortium. One strand of our work concerns the arms race against insecticide resistance in African malaria vector mosquitoes, and in particular the process of choosing the most cost-effective insecticidal interventions in the face of complex geographic variation in resistance and a limited amount of epidemiological trial evidence. The other strand is addressing the more strategic and longer-term threats facing vector control, including the rise of Aedes-borne viruses in Africa, and the effects of anthropogenic changes in the environments in which we live.

We are looking for a CEO who will join the leadership team based in the LSHTM. This is a senior role with operational responsibility across all of RAFTs activities, including its research, its governance structures and workings as a partnership, its relationship with FCDO and the intended users of the knowledge outputs. You will work closely with RAFT’s two Principal Investigators/Research Directors and provide support to all other Principal Investigators/Directors from partners in the Consortium. The CEO will manage the relationship with the donor (UK Government Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, FCDO) and be the primary point of contact. You will provide strategic Management of RPC governance structures; and actively participate in RPC management meetings with Management Group and running of the Consortium Advisory Group (CAG). You will work closely with the Programme Manager to ensure best practice in budget management, financial probity, forecasting expenditure, and financial reporting to donors, Management Group and CAG.

The CEO will oversee and report on detailed progress against the agreed workplans and logframe, including on risks to programme success and make changes and recommendations as required. You will lead on Lead on active engagement with RAFT’s primary external stakeholders (i.e. the main intended users of its knowledge outputs), including National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs) in countries with high burden of mosquito-borne disease, World Health Organisation (WHO), UK Government FCDO etc, so as to understand their research and technical priorities and to coordinate RAFT’s role and contribution. Finally, the CEO will also oversee the development and implementation of the RAFT Communications Strategy and together with the Research Uptake Manager, oversee all RPC communications, data management procedures and engagement of users and policymakers with the research outputs, representing the RPC in public debate and other media.

Candidates must have a higher education to degree level, or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience, experience of managing and reporting on programme grants from funders such as FCDO, EU etc, significant proven experience of financial planning and management including creating and monitoring budgets

The post is part-time 3 days per week, 0.6 FTE and fixed-term until 30 April 2026. The post is funded by the UK Government Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and is available immediately.

The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale, Grade 7 in the range £51,299 - £58,723 (SP 38-43) per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children becoming involved in violence. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) has a critical role in ensuring we succeed in this work. You have a key leadership role in overseeing the overall health of the Fund in partnership with the Executive Director. The role oversees our finances, people management and – for the right candidate –much of our grant-making and project management. 

Key responsibilities 

You’ll lead on key organisational governance processes and ensure the Fund makes wise decisions, by:

• Evaluate our programmes: Working with - and potentially managing - the Assistant Director of Evaluation, you will help to ensure that we select and partner with high-quality evaluators to understand how well different activities work.

• Ensuring the team maintains effective monitoring processes: Working with your team, you will develop the necessary skills, processes and decision-making processes to identify when things aren’t going to plan and respond accordingly.

• Build strong relationships with your external partners: You and your team will build strong, trusting relationships with the projects the YEF funds and the evaluators that we work with. Your team will be known for being attentive yet assertive and measured and efficient in the reporting information we expect. You will become well connected in the sectors that we are working in.

• Identify opportunities to scale up projects: You will be proactive in identifying projects that would benefit from capacity development support or that may be ready to scale up their work, collaborating with Impetus to deliver on this.

Person specification

You’re excellent at financial forecasting and understand how to make judgements and recommendations based on future scenario planning. You have experience reporting to Boards on financial performance and health, and leading on organisational external audits.

• You are strategic about finance: You’ve got real skill in distilling complex financial information into simple, easy to understand reports and presentations that enable good decision-making. You see your knowledge of finance as a way to serve Director-level colleagues with overall decision-making. You also understand how to navigate competing priorities and how to calculate and articulate risk and reward, knowing few decisions are straightforward.

• You get teams to use data well: You understand that accurate data and excellent management information tools enable good decision-making. You understand how management information databases (like Salesforce) work and would be able to maintain and build a culture of recording data and maintaining data quality within big teams. Ideally, you have experience working directly with Salesforce.

Southwark Law Centre (SLC) is recruiting a new Executive Director.

The Executive Director will work with the Trustee Board to develop and implement the strategic vision for the Law Centre and oversee its day to day operational management.

SLC offers a specialised referral service for advocacy and advice in complex and difficult cases.  In our last financial year, we helped more than 1300 people across the areas of employment & discrimination, housing & homelessness, immigration & asylum, and welfare rights as well as giving local people a voice in planning issues.  We are proud to be at the forefront of current issues, for instance in our work as part of the Windrush Justice Clinic.

The work of building on our financial sustainability is central to the role of Executive Director.  So too are strong people management skills to support our staff and volunteers.  And critically, we are looking for someone who shares our passion for this vital work, has experience in strategic planning and partnership development, and demonstrates an understanding and commitment to helping those in need.

Parents 1st UK is dedicated to enabling quality peer support to flourish during pregnancy, birth and beyond. The evidence is clear - effective and sustainable peer support nurtures the emotional wellbeing of mothers, fathers, partners, and babies, and builds strengths in communities. Our national work: Through an ‘open source’ online community platform, we provide all the resources necessary to set up a perinatal peer support initiative. Freely sharing all the tools that our local programme (Parents 1st Essex) uses in daily practice, from budget setting to volunteer training guides and impact tracking. Working with commissioners and providers, Parents 1st UK also provides consultancy and workshops to help build new perinatal peer support initiatives in communities.

Our local work: Parents 1st Essex currently operates in South and North Essex, delivering perinatal peer support to parents, through 1-1 or group support. Peer supporters engage and develop trusting relationships with parents during pregnancy, continue support through birth and the first few months afterwards.

Alongside this, Parents 1st UK also leads the Essex Peer to Parent Network, a peer support collaborative that aims to develop a hub of good practice across Essex. The Peer to Parent Network employs 4 Peer Support Link Workers who work alongside the local maternity units in Essex, helping parents to access peer support during pregnancy or anytime during the first year after birth.

Inter Mediate is one of the world’s leading independent conflict resolution organisations. Operating out of London, it works in conflict zones around the world to support peace negotiations and advise on strategies to stop and prevent wars. This is an exciting opportunity to join its small, expert projects team as a Project Development Officer, supporting Inter Mediate’s Project Directors to advance peace negotiations with a special focus on conflicts in the Middle East and Africa.  

 Role summary

The Project Development Officer (PDO) will work within the Inter Mediate Projects Team under the guidance of the Projects Directors and coordination with the Deputy CEO, Operations Team and CEO, to:

• Support and implement Inter Mediate’s existing projects portfolio supporting peace talks and other high-level peace initiatives.
• Build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders in conflict and peace processes, mainly in Africa and the Middle East
• Identify and develop entry points for new projects.
• Monitor and analyse political developments across areas relevant to Inter Mediate’s work.
• Research lessons from past peace efforts relevant to Inter Mediate’s current work.
• Support the Operations Team and Project Directors to prepare project proposals and budgets, narrative and financial reporting, and collect evidence of project impact.

Specific responsibilities:

•  Contribute to strategies to deliver Inter Mediate projects and institutional priorities.
• Support the Project Directors to cultivate and maintain relationships with key interlocutors and relevant experts in the field.
• Undertake travel, including to conflict settings.
• Draft high quality policy memos, speeches and concept notes for senior audiences.
• Provide logistical support for project delivery, including managing travel of project teams, interlocutors and consultants.
• Monitor media, think tanks and other analysis centres on conflict dynamics, and produce briefings and analytic papers for the CEO ahead of travel or engagement with key interlocutors.
• Oversee production of research papers on peacemaking lessons, based on demand from interlocutors.
• Scope for potential new projects and develop new project feasibility studies.
• Support the Project Directors and Operations Team in donor management and project accountability, including contributing to preparation of project proposals and budgets, and reporting in line with donor requirements.
• Compile project progress reports for senior management/trustees’ meetings.
• Represent IM in external contexts where necessary.
• Undertake other tasks in support of IM’s work overall as required.

Experience, qualifications and skills:

 Successful candidates would need to demonstrate:

• A masters degree in politics, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, international affairs, public policy or an equivalent subject. Relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu.
• Three years of work experience in conflict resolution or peace process support for a governmental, non-governmental or inter-governmental organisation, or an equivalent field such as diplomacy, humanitarian access, political risk advisory services, conflict journalism or conflict analysis. Experience relevant to West Africa and Middle East preferred.
• Excellent written English, and evidence of ability to produce high-quality written work to deadline.
• A strong understanding of political and conflict dynamics – particularly Africa and the Middle East - and the ability to produce well-structured and concise analysis
• Ability to operate successfully in high pressure, sensitive political environments and support high-level individuals
• Experience of work and travel in conflict-affected areas, and willingness to travel independently, with support from the Project Directors.
• Evidence of strong cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability to support the smooth running of a small team, and willingness to take an “all hands on deck” approach when required.
• Fluency in French and/or Arabic or other languages (desirable)

Chief Executive – full-time, permanent, London (flexible/hybrid)

The Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) is seeking a new Chief Executive to lead the organisation through the next phase of its growth and development. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a highly experienced and energetic senior player to lead a small executive team, along with many highly dedicated and capable Institute members, as we embark on a number of key development projects which will continue to grow our charitable activities and influence in the food sector. The role is a key point of contact and ambassador for the Institute with many senior and influential stakeholders within the food sector and governments.

We are looking for a strong strategic and conceptual thinker, experienced in business and financial management, who can communicate with and influence people at all levels. The role leads a small team and will have significant hands-on involvement in day to day operational matters.

The individual will have attained a BSc or equivalent level, and have demonstrable experience in leadership and people management. They will have a broad understanding of the food (or associated) sector (and preferably experience working in the sector). Ideally, the individual will already have experience managing or running a charity, and so will have a practical understanding of charity governance best practice. 

With multiple activities from publishing through to professional recognition and from scientific and technical events and communication through to supporting the next generation of talent, the Institute is looking for a leader who can work creatively and yet in a focussed way to ensure all these activities are progressed.

Ideally, they will have previously worked for a professional membership body and are likely to have experience in the food sector.

• Full-time, permanent. London-based (Hammersmith) with flexible working – the individual will be required to attend regular physical meetings, often in London, but with some other meetings in the UK. This role may also include some international travel. Salary: On application. No agencies.

Exeter-based cancer charity, Force, is well known and much loved for its incredible work supporting people who have had a cancer diagnosis and their families with a range of support.  Their longstanding CEO is now retiring and the search has begun to find that special person to leader the charity into the future.  We are delighted and honoured to be supporting the Board with this important appointment.
