More about Parentkind
Parentkind is a national federated charity that aims to advance education by encouraging the fullest cooperation between home and school, education authorities, central government and all other interested parties and bodies. We are proud to be the leading membership organisation for parent teacher associations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Parentkind seeks to represent all these parent groups as they strive to help every child in their school and we support our 12,500 members to raise £122m annually.
As well as helping parent groups on the ground, we provide resources to support parent participation in education at school and home so that every child can thrive and reach their potential. Ultimately, we want more parents to be empowered to be involved and engaged in their child’s education. The evidence is clear that parental participation in education benefits children in schools and society and increases the opportunities for social mobility for our younger generations.
We are working towards a future where this is considered an essential ingredient in the success of our children’s education by society, schools and parents themselves by:
- Engaging and inspiring individual parents
- Supporting our PTA and other member associations and growing the number if PTAs across the UK
- Helping schools be parent-friendly through guidance and training
- Working with partners

We see the world differently and celebrate the strength of people and community. We know how to help local people help other local people and we bring our values, creativity and passion to everything we do.
Our primary role is to work as a catalyst within communities to build on the strengths of people, communities, and organisations to ensure that people who need support to live their lives can be part of strong, inclusive, communities with real opportunities to connect, create and contribute.
We use our expertise to help communities, organisations, authorities, and policy makers to deliver the transformational change in services or systems needed to make this a reality.
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary person to lead our efforts in driving forward development and innovation initiatives.
As the Director of Development and Innovation you will be responsible for leading strategic development activities, working collaboratively with colleagues and partners to identify new opportunities, and overseeing the implementation of innovative solutions that align with our mission and objectives.
This role requires a creative thinker with a strong background in product and business development, project management, stakeholder engagement, and a passion for making a positive impact in the health and care sector.
You will have the opportunity to use your skills and experience to develop and enhance all aspects of our work to increase our impact and reach and shape the future direction of the organisation as a whole.
This is an exciting time to join Community Catalysts. We are growing and reaching more people and places. If you share our vision and values and would like to be part of our dynamic team, we would love to hear from you.

About EFA
English for Action provides free, participatory, and empowering English language classes (ESOL) for migrants in London. Our classes are spaces to build community and support students to organise collectively around issues like employment and housing rights. Our work currently supports around 500 adult migrants across London. We’ve become a national centre of good practice for a radical participatory approach to ESOL, informed by the work of Paulo Freire, and we share this approach through trainings, research and partnerships.
Organisation: We are a staff team of 8 people supported by a larger team of volunteers and 9 trustees. EFA promotes shared leadership and collaboration and we aim for our organisational structure to reflect this. In the last 4 years we’ve transitioned away from having a CEO to an executive team to oversee operations and decision-making - which you could be elected to join following your probation period. We’re still in transition and there is scope to make a real contribution to developing innovative practice within our workplace. As a charity, ultimate responsibility for, and control of, the organisation lies with the Board of Trustees.

Pay rises in line with inflation wherever possible (we have a flat pay structure)
