About the CARAS ESOL Team:

Our award-winning ESOL project offers English language classes to adults at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling people to attend college and access other services in the future.

About the Role:

CARAS is looking for volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants to support our face-to-face adult ESOL classes in Tooting. Volunteers in this role are required to commit to at least one 2-hour session every Wednesday during these times: 

• Mondays ESOL 9:30 to 13:30

• Tuesday 9:30 to 11:30

• Tuesday One-to-one employability and language learning support 15:00 to 17:00 

Please note that ESOL classes do not run during school holidays, and we follow Wandsworth Council term dates.

Volunteer tasks and responsibilities:

• Providing learners with one-to-one or small group support within ESOL classes; 

• Helping to set up the classroom and provide learners with classroom resources;

• Attending and contributing to volunteer debriefs after each session; 

• Making use of any community languages you may know to help students during the class; 

• Working collaboratively as a team and helping to shape the project; 

• Supporting people to develop their knowledge and skills, encouraging and inspiring participants to reach their full potential; 

• Assisting participants to recognise and celebrate their achievements; 

• Following CARAS’ confidentiality, safeguarding, health & safety, equal opportunities, data management and all other policies as relevant.  

Requirements: 

Essential: 

• To be 18 years or older; 

• Able to travel to our community centre in Tooting (travel expenses can be reimbursed); 

• An interest in education and English language teaching; 

• To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse backgrounds; 

• To be reliable and punctual; 

• Excellent communication skills, especially with people who are new to English; 

• The ability to volunteer on Mondays or Wednesdays during Wandsworth term time for a minimum of three months; 

• Currently resident in the UK; has asylum-seeker or refugee status 

• *Able to provide five years’ worth of addresses, and willing to undergo a DBS check; 

• Able to attend volunteer induction training (online) prior to start of role. 

 *DBS and proof of residency is not necessary if you are a CARAS community member who is more recently arrived in the UK. 

Desirable: 

• Knowledge of community languages, such as Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, Kurdish, Somali or Spanish.

Your Role

As a Volunteer Fundraising Champion, you’ll help us raise the funds we need to provide life-changing breaks for families. You’ll be the creative spark and the friendly face behind fundraising efforts that make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organise and deliver creative fundraising activities (raffles, online quizzes, challenge events, etc.)

• Engage and support individual fundraisers (e.g. sponsored runners, event hosts)

• Act as a key contact for fundraising volunteers providing encouragement, advice, and practical support

• Develop and maintain a central fundraising tracker (Excel or similar)

• Log all fundraising activity, targets, and deadlines

• Collaborate with our social media volunteer to promote campaigns

• Support recruitment and onboarding of new fundraising volunteers

About Youth ESOL: 

Our award-winning ESOL project offers English language classes to young people at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling young people to do well at school or college.

About the Role: 

• CARAS is looking for Reading Group Volunteer to support our face-to-face study programme for young people.
• The reading group is in Tooting and is an important element of a study programme for young people aged 14 to 18 who are out of formal education.
• Students will be supported to read at length and complete challenges that are adapted to their ability level.
• The reading group aims to foster independence and a joy of reading among the young people and requires volunteers to learn about the young peoples' interests in order to help them select an appropriate text.
• The ESOL teacher will provide volunteers with tips to support reading and understanding for emerging learners of English, such as phonics and elicitation strategies.
• Volunteers will work with 1-5 students, mostly reading out loud with them or helping them to decode unfamiliar language.
• Please note that ESOL classes do not run during school holidays, and we follow Wandsworth Council term dates. 

Volunteer tasks and responsibilities: 

• Providing learners with one-to-one or small group support within the Reading Group sessions; 

• Helping to set up the classroom and provide learners with classroom resources; 

• Contributing to debriefs to inform the ESOL teacher how each student found the lesson/task and the students’ areas of greatest challenge and success;  

• Attending and contributing to volunteer debriefs after each session;

Single Parents Support and Advice Services is a Charitable Incorporated Company with over 35000 members UK wide. 

Our charity founder and director, Nicola Booth, took the initiative to set up SPSAS in 2012, with the purpose to reduce isolation, loneliness, and to promote equal and fair treatment amongst Single Parents and their Children. We also aim to help, advise and support single / lone parents by giving them access to support and services that they normally would not be able to access for varied reasons. We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and energetic volunteers to walk our Wellness Walk routes with our participants to be someone that walkers can chat to if they’ve arrived and walking alone, provide a morale boost and support.

As the UK’s leading diabetes charity, it’s our job to tackle the diabetes crisis. We’re here to prevent type 2 diabetes, campaign for and support everyone affected by diabetes, and fund research that will one day lead us to a cure.

Thousands of people from across the UK will take part in our fun and family-friendly, sponsored Wellness Walks. It’s a chance to get out outside, take a deep breath, seize the day and change the world for everyone affected by diabetes.

There are currently 3 Wellness Walks held across the UK. We ask our walkers to think about their wellbeing and make a few small changes to how they live their lives, so that they can begin to feel healthier.

The walks are between 8-10 miles and are fully accessible – so pushchairs and mobility scooters are welcome.

Route volunteers guide walkers accurately and keep enthusiasm high. You must be aged 16+ to volunteer for this role (16 - 17 year olds must with be with a parent or guardian aged 18+), Volunteers in these roles will be positioned at key points on the walk route and will:

• Ensure walkers are heading in the right direction
• Motivate and cheer people on as they walk past your position
• Hand out hypo snacks, plasters or report medical incidents
• Monitor and report back to the route manager

Classics for All is a national charity working to ensure that every young person - regardless of background - has the opportunity to study Latin, Ancient Greek, ancient history and classical civilisation. Since 2010, we’ve supported over 1,300 state schools and reached more than 185,000 pupils, many in areas of high deprivation.

We are now seeking new Trustees to join our engaged and collaborative Board as we enter an exciting new phase of growth. Our focus is on expanding our reach, deepening our impact, and embedding social mobility and inclusion at the heart of everything we do.

We are particularly interested in individuals who bring:

• A strong commitment to educational equity and social justice
• Lived experience of the barriers we aim to address
• Skills in legal, digital transformation, or marketing and communications
• Strategic thinking and a collaborative mindset

We welcome applications from first-time trustees and are especially keen to hear from people based outside London and the South East, and from backgrounds currently underrepresented in the charity sector and Classics education.

This is a general trustee role. All Trustees contribute to strategic planning, support the executive team, and act as ambassadors for our mission. Board meetings are held quarterly (mostly online, with one in-person meeting per year), and we host an annual away day.

Purpose of the Role

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on connecting with others and enjoys being active in the community. As a Volunteer Engagement & Outreach Ambassador, you will play a vital role in promoting RollaDome’s roller skating clubs, birthday parties, and employability programs by visiting schools, attending events, and networking with local organisations. Your energy, people skills, and passion for getting others involved will help bring new participants into our programs and increase our presence across boroughs.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent RollaDome at schools, youth centres, and community events.
• Promote our services, including skating clubs, classes, parties, and training programs.
• Build and maintain relationships with school staff, community leaders, and youth organisations.
• Distribute leaflets, posters, and program information within schools and key community venues.
• Gather expressions of interest and pass them to the relevant team members.
• Share regular updates on outreach activities via email, short voice notes, or a simple log sheet.
• Provide informal feedback from schools and communities to help us tailor our services.

Job Purpose

One Place London is a community interest company located in West London engaged in Acting for Film and Music Recording workshops for young people aged 14-25, unemployed or at risk of getting involved in crime. As a key member of the Engagement Team working, this post will work alongside the Manging Director to deliver evidenced-based and youth-focused programmes to residents and the wider community.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop, promote and deliver engaging and relevant social activities and programmes on a daily basis to young people.

• Support, mentor, coach and ‘walk alongside’ individuals in their pursuit of independence and community cohesion.

• Undertake risk assessments and support planning interviews with new beneficiaries.

• Develop community minded support and activities that involve the wider community.

• Engage third parties to deliver support and activities to young people.

• To act as an advocate for young people and to engage partner agencies and services appropriate to the young people’s needs.

• Actively encourage job search, training, and volunteering opportunities with young people who are not in education, employment, or training.

• Facilitate the booking and delivery of community-based programmes.

• Assist with the interviewing and selection of those applying for participation in the workshop program.

• Undertake risk assessments and support planning with young people.

• Act in the interests of your own safety & the safety of others at all times.

• Undertake training and professional development.

• Anything else reasonably requested by the management of the CIC.

Person Specification & Key Competencies

Qualifications and Experience:

• Demonstrable experience of programme delivery in youth, adult or community-based service

• An ability and willingness to relate positively to young people, visitors and staff

• An outgoing and friendly personality, able to communicate well and engage a wide range of people

• Ability to react positively and effectively when faced with unwanted high-risk behaviours from young people, whether targeted towards themselves, staff, visitors or other young people.

• Good level of IT proficiency.

• Knowledge of voluntary support services and processes.

• An understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures

• An understanding of the issues facing young people

• An understanding of equality and diversity matters.

Personal Attributes

• A genuine enthusiasm for the work of the CIC.

• An outgoing and friendly personality, able to communicate well and engage positively with a wide range of people including with young people, visitors and staff.

The Brompton Fountain is a children's charity working with those impacted by heart and lung conditions in Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals. Our charity provides a wide range of vital resources, services, parent/carer amenities, and accommodation. We also fund medical equipment, facilities improvements and projects outside of the NHS remit. We are currently looking for a Fundraising and Events Volunteer to help our organisation . 

We would like the volunteer to help with:

• Stewardship at events to help families and guests.

• Supporting staff with admin at these events so that processes run smoothly.

• Communicating with families and guests who may share personal stories related to the charity. Feeling comfortable and confident to speak to people about our charity and what we do.

• Organising resources for fundraising and event days e.g care packs, running shirts, signage.

You will be supporting our Community Lead and Fundraising Officer who will provide an overview of our existing processes and be there to help you every step of the way. The Brompton Fountain has a strong team of staff and volunteers who you will be working collaboratively with as a team to support the families we are in contact with.

Your input will greatly affect not only the current impact of the charity and how we are able to support the families who need our services, but the longevity and outreach of our work by committing yourself to fundraising for our cause. 

Criteria

We are looking for a volunteer who:

• Does not need prior experience, passion and confidence are far more important!

• Is a great communicator and loves talking to people.

• Is confident and able to be proactive.

• Is flexible and adaptive.

• Is able to partake in physical labour e.g putting up gazebos and carrying around packages for events.

• Has attention to detail.

• Has the ability to drive or access travel around London and South-East as large/many items will be needed at events. 

• Is an empathetic person who is willing to have discussions with families around topics like health issues, additional needs, and bereavement.

• Understands the resource constraints of a small charity and is able to work with these.

• Is willing to have an enhanced DBS check.

• Is willing to partake in safeguarding training.

• Is willing to partake in onboarding training to understand our charity and the mission in more detail.

• Must be over 18.

Location

Whilst we are based at Royal Brompton Hospital, Sydney St, London SW3 6NP, your role will mainly be off site at different locations around London and the South-East to help at fundraising and community events.

Time

Due to our mission, we would greatly appreciate at least 6 weeks of your time, preferably more. This role would not be a set day a week, but rather be for fundraising and event days. These days would normally be Saturdays and Sundays, averaging once a month. We are an understanding and flexible organisation, and would be happy to discuss options with you.
