We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled Key Worker for our Key Worker Service in East Berkshire. The role will be diverse and service user centred and would suit someone with significant experience in supporting young people and young adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities and their families.

The day to day work will involve a flexible approach to coordination and direct support for the young person and their family, as well as providing responsive communication at times of increased need. This is an exciting role which allows for the Key Worker to support families to navigate the system whilst advocating for them and ensuring that their voice is heard.

As the service is new there will be opportunities for collaboration and co-production and our vision is to provide young person and family centered support, whilst influencing system change to achieve better outcomes for more children,  young people and adults under the age of 25.

The service will be provided across the entire East Berkshire footprint covering: Slough, Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Bracknell Forest.Although the team will be “virtual”, there will be frequent travel within and across the East Berkshire area, therefore being a car driver with access to a car is essential.

The Key Working Function has been developed as a response to the NHS England & NHS Improvement Long Term Plan (LTP) commitment that by 2023/24, children and young people with a learning disability, autism, or both, with the most complex needs will have a designated Key Worker, applying the recommendations made by Dame Christine Lenehan in ‘These are our Children'.

Working with children and young people, the team will focus on delivering timely and high quality, trauma informed support to children who have been the victims of domestic abuse.

The exciting post will be working with children who have experienced or been affected by domestic abuse. Focusing on standard and medium risk cases, this role will provide practical and emotional support to children and young people, with an emphasis on early intervention and awareness raising.

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

• To provide high quality, specialist support to children who have lived in a domestically abusive family.
• Enabling young people to access statutory and other services where appropriate.
• Managing a caseload and working proactively to support young people and their families
• To deliver educational, time-bound, 1 to 1 support sessions for children and young people.
• Provide specialist support to child victims, with a focus on empowering young people to make informed decisions.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of low to medium risk children and young people, predominantly through face to face appointments but also utilising virtual technologies.
• Complete an initial assessment of the child’s needs so that you can identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating.

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic, creative, innovative team player to join our Young People and Families Service in Scotland. This role will be based in Scotland, ideally close to Glasgow but will support service delivery across Scotland and the UK.

The Family and Youth Engagement Worker is a new role within our organisation, which will provide additional support to an existing team working in London providing comprehensive support to young people and families living with HIV.

The role encompasses family-based support, organising and facilitating group meet-up events, offering guidance and support around engaging with services, and providing mentoring and coaching support to individual young people.

This role is a hybrid role within the Children and Families Team which is part of the Wiltshire Domestic Abuse Service, providing support to children and young people that have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse.

The Children and Young Persons Triage Advisor will act as the gateway for all children and young people referrals to the Wiltshire Domestic Abuse Service. Working within an experienced and established team, the Children and Young Persons Triage Advisor will:

- Triage referrals, with a particular focus on children and young people who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse.

- Conduct risk assessments and offer immediate safety planning advice.

- Respond to safeguarding concerns.

- Signpost victims and professionals to other support agencies where appropriate.

- Provided early intervention support to children and young people as part of triage and welfare calls made.

- Offer specialist domestic abuse advice and support to professionals.

- Making welfare calls to victims who are waiting to start structured support.

- Support as required with co-facilitating in our children and young persons group work provision

In addition, the role requires the building of effective relationships both internally within the Wiltshire Team and externally, supporting a multi-agency approach.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Working with children and young people and risk management:

• Provide a victim focused service, with an understanding of the impact of trauma on children and young people.

Ways of Working:

Job Title: Caring Dads Practitioner

Hours: 22.5 hours per week across 3 days.

Caring Dads exists to change current practice to better include fathers in efforts to enhance the safety and well-being of their children. The practitioner will work directly with fathers with an aim to improve relationships with their children, families, and co-parents/carers. This will include promoting the service to a range of teams across Hampshire and Southampton, to generate programme referrals. You will work closely with Hampton Trust domestic abuse perpetrator service to identify client suitability for the Caring Dads programme.

As the Caring Dads Practitioner, you will be required to deliver the Caring Dads and Accredited Domestic Abuse Prevention Training (ADAPT) Programme. This includes one to one support and group work. Groups are delivered on weekday evenings; you will be required to deliver one group work sessions per week.

You will undertake treatment and risk assessments of individuals causing harm in their relationships; this includes active case/risk management of families living with domestic abuse. Although this position is based in Ashurst, you will be co-located into social work teams across Hampshire three days per week, with an aim to providing support and advice in identifying suitable families for the Caring Dads and ADAPT programme.

Main Responsibilities

• As a children’s Residential Support Worker, you will work as part of a residential childcare team providing support for individuals with their physical, emotional, and social needs with an emphasis on promoting independence.

You will support safe social integration and offer a non-judgmental attitude to your daily work. Our specialist teams within these homes have an outstanding track record in achieving longstanding positive outcomes for these young people.

About you & Qualifications

• Ideally, we’re looking for someone with experience in a similar background, but it’s not essential as full training will be provided.
• Following a successful 6-month probation period, you will undertake a QCF level 3 or 4 qualification with support from an assessor and supervision.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll be expected to liaise with other staff, parents/carers, and professionals.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, taking the lead when required, maintaining & encouraging open and honest communication.
• You’ll be writing reports, so a good standard of written English and IT skills would be essential.
• Transporting children / young people to an activity or school is a requirement. A driving licence that has been held for 12 months would be desirable.
