The Young People Programme Manager will work with the Creative Learning team at Factory International to develop, deliver and manage programmes of work with young people between the ages of 14 and 30. This role will be responsible for the delivery of key strategic partnerships with commercial brands, as well as developing new streams of work with a focus on sharing power through curatorial programme decision making, programming and youth governance.

Creative Learning develop and deliver learning programs with young people and children from Cradle to Creative (the age of 0 through to 30) with a focus on underrepresented children, young people and artists. All of our programmes have a social and emotional learning outcome and focus on improving mental health, wellbeing and resilience. Learning programmes are linked to Factory International artistic commissions with wider curatorial themes drawn out to align with social and emotional frameworks.

In the last 12 months, the team has worked with over 25,000 children and young people across Greater Manchester and the North.
 

Young People Programme Manager Responsibilities;

• Develop and deliver innovative, ambitious and transformational programmes for young people with a focus on wellbeing, mental health, and social/emotional learning
• Work with young people to develop their ideas into world class artistic productions
• Manage key strategic relationships, advocate and widen networks for our work across sectors including commercial, creative, educational, cultural and charitable
• Locate, recruit and manage some of the most exciting artists working locally, nationally and internationally to deliver on programmes, with a focus on artists that are underrepresented
• Manage resources for the delivery of programmes including financial and human
• Develop and manage sustained relationships with schools, colleges, universities, youth zones and informal education providers across Greater Manchester/North of England
• Keep abreast of the local, national and international artistic commissions, policy and landscape for young audiences and represent FI on appropriate forums, meetings and events
• Manage monitoring and evaluation processes from the beginning to the end of the cycle of a project embedding learning from the outset to completion
• Contribute to Factory International’s strategies for creative learning more broadly, specifically the engagement of young people in areas of low cultural engagement.

ESSENTIAL

Main Responsibilities:

Lead on service delivery, management and governance

– To provide strong leadership for the service based on a clear vision for the service, clarity of standards and outcomes to be achieved.

– With the Head of CYP support the strategic development, planning and delivery of specialist services for children and families ensuring an effective co-ordinated offer for these families is in place and to develop new childcare settings as appropriate.

– To have the primary responsibility for establishing, maintaining and developing consistent and high standards of professional and managerial competence amongst all staff involved in the delivery of Childcare in line with that of internal policies and procedures and of regulators such as Ofsted.

– To provide line management to the Service Managers and Co-ordinators and work with them to ensure they provide an effective service to children and families in Surrey.

– Maintain up to date detailed knowledge of legislation and national policy and to ensure SLT, CYP management team and the service are briefed on changes. This will include the duties and responsibilities arising from the Children’s Act 2014 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 amongst others.

– To have lead responsibility for ensuring the Childcare operates in a way which safeguards children and is fully compliant with children’s safeguarding procedures.

Manage stakeholder engagement and financial integrity

– Lead on ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in conjunction with the Quality and Insight Manager. 

– With the Head of Finance and HCYP to produce annual budgets for Childcare services and monitor them to ensure financial viability and appropriate use of charitable resources

– To ensure that key relationships and business processes are in place to improve outcomes for children and families.

– Work with the Development Manager to support the Managers and Co-ordinators to write funding bids and reports for new and existing work

– To ensure childcare services meets both national, local performance and quality indicators in an effective and timely way.

– Ensure all key policies and processes are up to date and fit for purpose.

– Work collaboratively with Quality and Insight Manager to ensure services deliver value for money, within budgets and are evidence based, ensuring that services are rigorously evaluated working with the in terms of quality and outcomes and that they continuously improve and are provided in response to children’s needs.

Training and Development

– Contribute to an in-house training programme for CYP staff and volunteers, which is also offered to all YMCA East Surrey staff and volunteers and key partners

– Manage, and when required, deliver in-house training sessions supported by CYP Managers and Co-ordinators

– Work with the Head of CYP and HR to develop volunteering, apprenticeship, and traineeship opportunities across the department

Provide effective management and support and demonstrate the values and culture of YMCA East Surrey.

– Ensure that all activities demonstrate the values and culture of YMCA East Surrey.

– Work with the Head of CYP/Deputy CEO to support the implementation of YMCA East Surrey strategy and Operational Plan.

– Any other duties are required to be performed within the grade and renumeration of the role.

Job Purpose:To be responsible for the management and effective delivery of multi-disciplinary services for children and families. The aim of the services managed by this post is to provide support to children and families to help to belong, contribute and thrive within East Surrey. Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings, managing teams and contract performance, underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. We are recruiting for a Divisional Children’s Worker to provide practical knowledge, expertise, and example of children’s ministry. Working to develop and deliver a children’s work strategy to enable local corps and centres to raise leaders and children who are disciples of Jesus in our tradition of social change and justice. The South West Divisional Headquarters is in Exeter and the applicant will be required to travel there at least once fortnightly as well as visiting various areas across the division including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Bristol and Gloucester. Although, this post will be more focused in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Key responsibilities include:

• Equipping and empowering children’s leaders to enhance their communities and engage with children and the issues that affect them.
• Enabling children to experience ‘Fullness of life with Jesus’ in broader contexts. This might involve leading event and residential opportunities as well as children’s work in corps contexts.
• Contributing into the planning and review process for the programmes and activities across the division.

This role has an occupational requirement that you must be a committed and practising Christian. As well as being an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, you will have:

• A recognised qualification in youth work and/or good experience of working with young people in outreach, discipleship, and leadership.
• Practical experience of developing community youth outreach projects and schools based mentoring programmes.
• Relevant technical skills, including project management, finance, stakeholder engagement, social media.
• The ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, overnight and residential weeks when necessary.
• A clean driving licence

This role has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a committed and practising Christian.

The Head of Youth Engagement & Participation is a key senior leadership role at Peer Power Youth. Responsible for leading the youth engagement team (YET) across all aspects of safe and supported youth engagement (individual change) and ensuring youth voices contribute to tangible and meaningful system change (participation/system change).

You can play a key role in shaping and delivering this with us as part of our valued community that spans young partners, trustees, advisory forum and our staff team.

Our model of youth engagement and participation has been co-created by young people and consists of:

• Personal development/Peer to Professional (life skills/training/work readiness) offer – creating Individual Change

• Youth Voice and Influence projects– creating tangible System Change

• Training, Coaching, and Workshops that are designed and delivered by young partners for professionals in justice, care and health settings. Along with resources to support System Change

Partnerships include NHS (regional and national), Youth Justice Board, Ministry of Justice/Youth Custody Service, HMI Probation, Youth Justice Services, youth and community organisations and secure settings. The Head of Youth Engagement and Participation will directly line manage 4-5 senior staff members but holds the overall responsibility for the Youth Engagement Team.

The Young Partners we engage and connect with, have experience of justice and care/looked after systems. We work across London and Southeast regions, with occasional national events. Our work takes place in the community and in secure settings (examples include -HMYOI Feltham, Oasis Restore Secure School, and Secure Children’s Homes).
