The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the Sector and be a Senior Leader with extensive experience of service delivery, people management, organisation development, finance, income generation and stakeholder engagement.

JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Deliver current services efficiently, achieving high levels of performance and satisfaction against contract requirements in both quantitative and qualitative terms.
2. Lead and develop the team in a supportive and collaborative manner and build resilience into the organisation.
3.Maintain and develop effective relationships with existing funders to ensure the renewal and ideally expansion of existing contracts as well as seeking new funders to help achieve Richmond CVS’s External Income growth goals.

Purpose of the role:
The purpose of this role is to build on our programme of strategic engagement with our key audiences, in order to build our presence, influence and networks in a wide range of UK sectors and topical issues. This includes leading the design and delivery of some of our focused programmes in which we award Fellowships and supporting the Fellows awarded into these programmes to help them increase their UK impact once they’ve done their overseas learning. This role is responsible for delivering all engagement activity across our Arts and culture, Community and citizenship, Environment and resources and Governance and public provision universal themes.
Key responsibilities:
Programme Development and Delivery
- With oversight from the Engagement Director, and working with members of the Advisory Council to develop the focus and goals of a three-year Fellowship programme within our Governance and Public Provision universal theme through a process of desk-based research and consultation workshops
- Working with the Head of Comms to design and plan the launch of the new programme to applicants
- Working with the Head of Fellowship to design a support package for applicants into the programme
- With oversight from the Engagement Director, creating and facilitating a Working Group of Fellows, partners and Council members to support the cohort of Fellows awarded within this programme. And working with the other Research and Engagement Manager to develop and enhance our approach to stewarding these Working Groups including ones already in place for our other programmes.
- Supporting the Engagement Director in the recruitment and stewardship of Knowledge Partners for this programme and other programmes under your four thematic sectors
- Working with members of our Advisory Council to review our two environment related programmes with a view to revising them or developing them further.

Sector Relations & Networking

Creation of Engagement Content
- Designing and delivering a programme of engagement events for Fellows including webinars and convenings to provide support, knowledge sharing and networking opportunities for the community of Fellows
- Leading on the design and delivery of a programme of wrap-up engagement activity for Fellows in our Rural communities programme
- Leading on the discovery and development phase of a programme of wrap-up engagement activity for Fellows in our Arts and Communities and Children and Young People with experience of care programmes.

- Writing engagement materials such as case studies for a wide range of sectors and issues.

About the role
At The Brilliant Club, we mobilise the PhD community to support students from less advantaged backgrounds to access the most competitive universities and succeed when they get there. We work with students who, because of their family income, parental history or the postcode they live in, are at risk of missing out on the life-changing opportunities linked to higher education.
We are excited to be recruiting a Research and Impact Director to lead the charity’s research and evaluation work. This senior role will be a part of the Senior Leadership Group and will report to the Chief Programmes and Communities Officer. Furthermore, the role will involve influencing and collaborating with different teams from across the organisation to ensure the research work that we do is to the highest standards and aligns with the charity’s strategic priorities. The role will be a figurehead internally and externally on all things research and evaluation.
The Research and Impact Department has two key areas of responsibility: evaluating and reporting the impact of the charity’s programmes and providing research and evaluation consultancy to mission-aligned organisations. A key part of this role will be building our consultancy work further in order to generate income and new strategic partnerships.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading research and evaluation work in a relevant field and will have strong research skills and knowledge of evaluation methodologies. The evaluation team works with schools and organisations, analysing the impact of programmes and interventions to help them do more of what works and less of what doesn’t. We work with more than 1,400 schools and 80 education organisations, serving more than a quarter of million pupils. This includes helping our partners to design high-quality research projects, delivering them, and providing systems and tools for data collection, reporting and impact benchmarking.
The Opportunity
The Manager role works across ImpactEd Evaluation. Our partners encompass education organisations such as charities, edtech organisations and government, and schools and multi-academy Trusts. We aim to deliver high-quality research and evaluation projects that help our partners make better decisions to benefit young people.
You will act as a consultant on a range of different partnerships to help partners develop their evaluation strategy and approach. For example, you could deliver independent evaluations for organisations like the Careers and Enterprise Company, Nesta or multi-academy Trusts such as Lift Schools. You will also have opportunities to contribute to development of team strategy and learning and development resources.
As a manager you will act as a project lead, delivering high-quality research projects at scale, and support the creation of specific deliverables for projects led by others. This covers the end to end of research design and delivery, including the creation of Theories of Change and evaluation frameworks, data collection and analysis, and impact reporting to help our partners learn about the effectiveness of their programmes. At manager level you will have the opportunity to take on larger-scope partnerships supported by a project sponsor at senior manager level or above.
We are open to a range of backgrounds, but would expect prior experience of research and evaluation delivery and partnership management. Experience and understanding of the UK education system would also be an asset. - You will be passionate about teacher professional development, using your strong knowledge of teaching and learning, curriculum and assessment to design high-quality professional learning and assessments for teachers and school leaders.
- You will play a leading role in shaping the design of our courses, helping teachers and school leaders to engage with research and evidence, bridging the gap between research and practice
- You will continually build your skills in supporting teachers’ professional learning and development, with the opportunity to work alongside expert colleagues on the design and delivery of the Chartered College of Teaching’s courses and content

Essential knowledge and experience
- Educated to at least degree standard, with QTS / higher degree desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of effective teaching and learning, curriculum design and assessment
- A critical understanding of key topics in education research and their potential impact on practice
- Experience of teaching in schools in the UK or internationally
Desirable knowledge and experience
- Knowledge and understanding of effective professional development methodologies
- Experience of designing and/or delivering teacher professional development
- Experience producing content for a range of audiences including teachers
- Experience of designing or delivering online learning
- Knowledge and/or experience of teacher assessment or teacher accreditation
