Citizens Essex is a relatively-young Chapter of Citizens UK, covering 3 main geographical areas: Colchester, Chelmsford, and Southend. Our ideal candidate for the position of Senior Organiser has high emotional intelligence, is curious about other people, politically astute, and is fundamentally relational. They will have a track record of making things happen, be able to work with a high degree of independence, are comfortable with uncertainty, and able to think strategically as well as operationally. They will be interested in understanding and working with different sectors and types of organisations, as well as engaging with people from a wide range of faiths and cultures which are different to their own. They will build and maintain relationships with a large number of leaders across the County and coach them to take action together on a common agenda.
Community Organising
Through our theory of social change, called community organising, we train thousands of everyday people to lead change in their communities, equipping them with the skills to hold politicians and other powerholders to account. We are made up of 500+ member organisations in powerful alliances throughout the UK. Our members include schools, universities, faith groups, parents’ groups, health practices, charities, trade unions and other civil society organisations.
Purpose
At Citizens UK, our organisers and project staff work within communities to develop leaders, strengthen organisations, campaign for change and organise across difference. There are various project roles and operational, communication, finance and HR roles that support the organisation and project staff and organisers to deliver on this mission and work. This work is rewarding and can be challenging; it requires a personal commitment to inclusion, a willingness to listen and disagree respectfully, and an interest in working in an organisation where our staff, member institutions and leaders will come from a diversity of backgrounds and often hold views that may be very different from our own. Main Responsibilities
A Senior Organiser is mastering the craft of community organising and taking increasing responsibility for developing major campaigns, managing budgets and managing staff. They operate with a high degree of independence and are significant contributors to CUK-wide functions such as training. Senior Organisers model the broad-based community organising methodology in their work including the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change.
You will bring communities together to drive change both locally, regionally, and nationally. This role will work closely with local civic institutions, such as churches, mosques, schools, universities, unions and other community groups to:

develop the leadership of people within those organisations - our 'leaders' who lead the campaigns we work on

help them identify the changes they want to see and create strategies to win those changes

strengthen institutions’ own abilities to achieve their missions.
This includes listening to members of the community to find common issues, engaging local decision-makers through meetings, and planning in-person ‘actions’, where you might hold those in power to account. All of this work is underpinned by the knowledge that everyday people have the ability to shape the world around them. This work will be rooted locally, but you will be a part of a bigger national drive to make change alongside diverse local alliances across the UK. In Essex, the work is currently focusing on the first Mayoral Election for the County but you will also work on other campaign priorities that are developed through the institutions you work with.
Working as a Senior Organiser for Citizens UK, reporting to Regional Supervisor for the South of England, your main responsibilities will include:
Build relational power to further the goals of CUK

Develop and grow strong working relationships with power players at a county-wide level or sector, including journalists; taking the initiative to establish new relationships as required

Our Organisers and some project teams work closely with our member institutions and will be expected to attend member events that take place in the evenings and occasional weekends. We operate a Time Off in Lieu approach and have very flexible working arrangements to ensure a good work-life balance.
Please note that the role is Essex-wide and, as such, there is a practical expectation that the successful candidate will be able to drive between key locations across the county (with associated mileage costs being covered by Citizens UK).

Citizens Advice Camden is a well-respected local charity with more than 80 years’ experience of delivering free, independent and impartial advice and casework services to those most in need.
Role Purpose
To provide a high quality welfare benefits advice service to people affected by cancer with the aim of maximizing their income and advising on a range of related social welfare issues.
To work closely with the staff of the Citizens Advice Camden Macmillan Welfare Advice Service to maintain and further develop a quality provision ensuring that Citizens Advice standards are met.

Key elements/Tasks
The adviser will be expected to work in a busy and often demanding hospital environment. This role will require you to work with a large number of clients, many of whom will present with multiple and complex advice needs because of their condition. This can be an emotionally challenging and sometimes distressing working environment, and the adviser will need to demonstrate emotional resilience and an awareness of how to support herself/himself and to seek support from others in dealing with this.
The adviser will need to be sensitive to the demands of working daily with healthcare professionals and other non-Citizens Advice Camden stakeholders and to work effectively as an ambassador for Citizens Advice Camden. We are looking for an Adult Carer Wellbeing Navigator, employed by Sutton Carers Centre and based within the Wellbeing Team at Sutton Talking Therapies as well as our Centre. In this role, you will provide both practical and emotional support to Carers - helping them to set goals, develop effective coping strategies, and strengthen their confidence by accessing appropriate therapeutic interventions.
You will bring experience of working with people facing difficulties around their mental health, offering person-centred support designed to improve their overall health and wellbeing. You also will have knowledge of the wider issues that may affect mental health, including the particular challenges and rewards of caring for others.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing demands in a fast-paced, dynamic, multi-partner environment are essential. Flexibility is also key - you’ll need to respond to the varying needs of Carers and the organisation, including occasional work outside standard office hours.

Job purpose
To support Debt Advisers in their roles and ensure that the advice provided to overindebted Clients is accurate, effective and tailored to individuals’ circumstances. To support, and regularly audit delivery partner organisations, ensuring that they are prepared for external reviews of their service in line with their Grant Agreement.
Scope of role
The Debt Technical Supervisor is responsible for supporting Debt Advisers to ensure the delivery of accurate, effective, and tailored advice to over-indebted clients. This role involves conducting debt-advice interview observations, reviewing case files, and identifying training needs for advisers. The Debt Technical Supervisor provides real-time support and constructive feedback, helping advisers navigate complex cases and ensuring they have access to the necessary resources and information. Additionally, the role includes auditing delivery partner organisations to prepare them for external reviews and supporting them in meeting compliance and quality standards. The supervisor will collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to promote best practices, address risks, and contribute to the continuous professional development of advisers.

Key Responsibilities
1. Support Debt Advisers in their roles and ensure that the advice provided to over- indebted Clients is accurate, effective and tailored to individuals’ circumstances.
- Conducting debt-advice interview observations
- Undertaking debt advice file reviews
- Identifying advisers’ soft skill and technical training needs
- Providing constructive feedback, and pastoral support, to advisers and their line managers
- Providing real-time support to advisers, which will include but is not limited to providing guidance in complex matters and provide advisers with sources of information.
2. Support, and regularly audit delivery partner organisations, ensuring that they are prepared for external reviews of their service in line with the Grant Agreement.
- Ensure partner organisation are kept up to date with the requirements for external assessments.
- Supporting partner organisations with the preparation and review of files and documentation ahead of an external assessment.
- Support partner organisations with the implementation of any remedial actions following an external review and support advisors to identify suitable training to improve areas highlighted.
3. Ensure project compliance and quality requirements are achieved.
- Working closely with the Quality Assurance Mangers to ensure Advisors based at delivery partners have a good awareness and understanding of the quality and service delivery requirements and have active involvement in the delivery of partnership events related to both quality improvement and CPD.
- Working collaboratively to share good practice in performance and quality improvement and to progress key priority areas of work.
- Escalating risks promptly and appropriately and contributing to wider monitoring and reporting requirements.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Essential Criteria:
1. Experience and Skills:
- A minimum of two years’ full time (2,220 hours) or equivalent part-time experience of delivering debt advice
- Hold a valid Money and. Pension Service accredited qualification in debt advice
- Have recent knowledge and experience of specialist debt casework
- Ability to supervise, develop and motivate a team of Debt Advisers to achieve performance, quality and Continuous Professional Development
- Understanding of the issues involved in interviewing clients (all channels)
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex information and produce and present clear reports verbally and in writing in cross cultural settings.
- Ability to work with funders and (partner) organisations to earn and maintain the trust of the people with whom Toynbee Hall deals.
- Experience of the monitoring, managing and evaluation of projects and performance
- Have achieved the MaPS competency requirements for a Technical Debt Supervisor (or be working towards these) and have experience of monitoring casework for quality.
- Proven ability to work creatively to support change management using a solution-based approach that resolves issues and accomplishes goals
- Ability to lead and contribute to the team, including the ability to prioritise own work and the work of others, and take decisions in relation to service delivery and rota cover (if required)
- Ability to create a positive working environment in which equality and diversity are well managed, dignity at work is upheld and staff are empowered and motivated to do their best
- Ability to best use IT systems and packages in the provision of advice services, including Microsoft Office, Teams, and case recording tools eg AdvicePro

SLRA is a well-established local migrant support organisation working with and for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants who are at risk or in crisis because of immigration issues. We provide specialist immigration advice as well as a broad range of practical, social and therapeutic support services. We also campaign for a fairer immigration system, involving local people with lived experience in influencing local and national policy and practice.
Our Nest Project brings advice and improved awareness and knowledge to migrant families with young children, through community settings in Lambeth and Southwark. The project aims to reach families with the information and advice they need in order to resolve their status before they fall into crisis, and allow them to live safely and access opportunities.
The Nest Project Coordinator will lead on developing partnerships with and providing training to staff and volunteers in community settings as well as providing immigration advice and casework.

- Experience of providing immigration advice and casework support to migrant individuals who have complex needs, working sensitively and effectively within community settings.
- A strong track record in establishing and developing partnership working, and delivering training/workshops within community settings.
