We are also open to both office and home-based working; for colleagues based at our London office (N1), we operate a hybrid working model with an expectation of office attendance twice per week.
One of the roles will partner with our London-based services, so being based in or within commuting distance of London would be beneficial. However, we don’t want location to be a barrier and we welcome applications from people based elsewhere in the UK.

We're looking for an exceptional content creator who understands the Ocean and knows how to make people care about it.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role with significant ownership. You will own content planning and community management across social media, web and newsletters. You'll be responsible for Ocean Generation's digital content and engagement, from deciding what stories we tell and how we tell them, through to creating, publishing, engaging with our community of 170,000+, analysing performance and improving what we do next.
We're a small, ambitious team on a mission to make Ocean Literacy accessible to millions of people. So, you'll need to be comfortable transforming Ocean science and educational programme outputs into compelling storytelling across social media, newsletters, and our website, taking the whole process from spotting an opportunity and developing the idea through to creating, publishing and owning the result.
We're particularly interested in people who already understand the Ocean or marine sector and have a proven track record of creating compelling social content.
You don't need to be a marine scientist, but you do need to understand the Ocean well enough to tell its stories accurately, ensuring Ocean Generation remains a trusted, empowering, and recognisable voice for Ocean Literacy.
About Ocean Generation
Ocean Generation is a UNESCO-endorsed Ocean education charity turning Science into Storytelling. We make Ocean Literacy accessible through film, pop-culture, and education programmes that empower practical action.
Most people grow up unaware that the Ocean is keeping us all alive: Ocean Generation exists to change that.
Established in 2009 by film producer Jo Ruxton MBE, our award-winning documentary ‘A Plastic Ocean’ was named by Sir David Attenborough as “one of the most important films of our time” and ignited mass public awareness about the impact of plastic pollution.
Today, we address a full range of human-made threats impacting the Ocean, with a particular focus on programmes for young people across the world.
Our Ocean Intelligence approach – how we translate complex Ocean science into engaging content through Science and Storytelling – has been endorsed by the Intergovernmental Oceanic Commission of UNESCO as a project under the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
- Our vision is a world where society understands, values, and acts for the Ocean.
- Our mission is to improve Ocean Literacy by translating complex science into engaging content, programmes, and practical actions.
The Role
This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will own content planning, creation, publishing, analytics, and community management across platforms – social, web and newsletter.

- Create and distribute platform-native content across Instagram, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X; adapting stories, formats, and tone for different audiences and platforms.
- Leverage your storytelling skills to translate complex Ocean science and programme outputs into creative short-form video and static social content that educates and empowers our community.
- Identify opportunities for reactive, culturally relevant and trend-led content.
- Develop ideas independently and take them from concept to publication.
- Maintain Ocean Generation’s tone of voice, visual identity, and editorial standards.
- Manage community engagement for an audience of 170,000+, responding to comments and DMs with care, accuracy and positivity.
- Identify underperforming content and experiment with new formats, narratives and approaches.
- Nurture our global community of Ocean lovers and advocates by prompting conversation and engagement online.
- Own the editorial calendar, working with our Science and Ocean Literacy teams to ensure a cohesive content strategy across all platforms.
- Bring engagement and education programmes to life through case studies, visuals, and event coverage.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute website updates and article uploads.
Newsletter Creation & Management
- Write and design informative monthly newsletters using MailChimp.
- Collaborate with various team members to gather relevant content and ensure timely delivery to our subscribers.
- Analyse newsletter performance metrics to optimise engagement and increase readership.

- Create promotional content for fundraising initiatives and partnerships.
- Coordinate occasional external support where needed (SEO, advertising, design agencies) to ensure brand consistency.

About the PVRI
We’re a small charity with a global reach and an important purpose: to reduce the burden of pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) with a particular focus on pulmonary hypertension (PH) - a serious condition that can lead to heart damage and trigger symptoms like breathlessness, chest pain, fatigue, poor growth, fainting, and light-headedness. PH can reduce both quality of life and length of life, but it isn’t widely recognised or well-understood.
We aim to improve clinical care, education, and PVD research. To do this, we bring together an international network of thousands of clinicians, scientists, academics, and industry partners supported by our small team based in Bermondsey, London. Together, we deliver conferences, e-learning, and an academic journal, raise awareness of PVD, and encourage collaboration in research.
About the role
We are seeking a Marketing & Events Officer to help the charity achieve its mission by growing its international profile, driving membership, increasing engagement and income through delivering great marketing, webinars and event communications.
PVRI's events are delivered collaboratively across the charity, and this role acts as the key coordination point for event communications, delegate engagement and webinar delivery. No two days are the same. One day, you might be writing content for our website, emails, newsletters, or social media channels, and the next, you might be welcoming respected speakers and attendees to one of our international scientific webinars.
A key part of the role is supporting marketing and comms for our face-to-face events and working with the team to provide on-site support. These include our annual global scientific congress (often held towards the end of January in a different city around the world) and our biennial symposia (which usually take place in June, usually in the USA or Europe).
Our staff team are not scientists or medical experts – but we are skilled at warmly facilitating and uniting the global scientific and medical expert community. We are seeking someone who has excellent communication and organisational skills, is comfortable with complex medical terminology, genuinely cares about our mission, and will bring energy, skills and commitment to this exciting role.
If this sounds like you, we can’t wait to hear from you!
What we can offer
We offer a 35-hour working week and flexible working, a positive learning culture, international travel, and opportunities for you to learn and grow in your role. And for those who prefer hybrid working, we’re based in a vibrant, sociable office space close to London Bridge and Borough Market.
PVRI celebrates diversity and is committed to equality and inclusion in our recruitment practices and ways of working. If you’re excited about our mission and can bring talent and enthusiasm to our cause, we’d love to hear from you.
How to apply
To apply for the role, please send us your CV and a supporting statement (max 850 words) outlining what you could bring to the role and referencing the person specification. Please send these, together with the Equalities Monitoring Form, to Katie Corris by 09:00 on Monday, 07 September.

The opportunity:
This is a senior role with responsibility for the strategic direction, quality and impact of We Belong’s youth development portfolio. Reporting to the CEO and working as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead programmes spanning early intervention, educational attainment, further and higher education, employability, skills development, youth leadership and progression into positive opportunities.
You will oversee the Let Us Learn Programme, Emerging Young Leaders Programme, Schools Excellence Programme and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze programme. You will also strengthen young people’s influence within We Belong through the Core Group, ensuring that lived experience informs organisational priorities and programme development.
The Context:
Following the landmark Supreme Court judgment in the Tigere case, which helped secure fairer access to higher education for young migrants, We Belong has continued working to ensure that young people can progress into higher education. This has included successful campaigning to increase scholarship opportunities and building strong relationships with educational institutions across the UK.
However, more work is needed. Young migrants can experience significant barriers to educational attainment, further and higher education, employment and personal development because of their immigration status.
These barriers can arise long before a young person reaches the point of applying to university, beginning an apprenticeship or entering employment. We recognise that university is not the only pathway to success and that young people should be supported to explore a range of routes that reflect their ambitions, strengths and circumstances.
Early intervention is therefore essential to ensure that young migrants understand their rights, receive accurate information and appropriate support, and are able to make informed decisions about their education, training, employment and future.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young people, supporting their development and creating pathways for them to achieve their ambitions.
If successful, the applicant will be joining an award-winning youth charity and a staff team dedicated to improving outcomes for young migrants between the ages of 16-25 years old and empowering young people to create change.
Please submit your application by sending your CV and a cover letter explaining how your experience and background make you suitable for this role. Applications submitted without both a CV and a cover letter will not be considered.
