Job description

Are you a talented storyteller?

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is looking for a skilled communications professional to join our Marketing and Communications Team.

Alongside your experience in communications, journalism, PR, content creation or digital marketing, you’ll have excellent writing skills, strong interviewing ability and a real instinct for finding and shaping powerful stories. You’ll also be someone who enjoys working independently, spotting opportunities and creating high-quality content that connects emotionally with audiences. You’ll have excellent organisational skills, able to balance priorities, and maintain accurate records and media consents.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape how Rainbows tells its story across the East Midlands raising awareness of our specialist care and inspiring support for babies, children, young people and their families. You’ll lead on sourcing and developing stories from families, supporters, staff and stakeholders, creating publish-ready content across PR, web, email, social media, and fundraising campaigns.

You’ll be joining us at a time when storytelling is becoming increasingly important to our fundraising, digital engagement and public awareness. We’re looking for someone who understands how to create sensitive, audience-focused content, and who can adapt their writing style across multiple channels and audiences.

Working as part of a collaborative Marketing and Communications team, your role will include interviewing families and supporters, writing compelling stories and press releases, supporting campaign content, helping develop digital-first storytelling approaches, and building a strong pipeline of stories, quotes, images and video content for use across the organisation.

You’ll need excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and proactively drive a pipeline of stories across a range of projects and campaigns. We’re particularly interested in candidates who can think creatively by identifying new story angles, developing alternative content routes, and helping us diversify the voices and experiences represented across our communications.

You’ll also work closely with the PR Manager and Income Generation and Marketing Directorate to support regional media activity, fundraising campaigns and digital communications.

This role would suit someone with solid experience in communications, public relations or journalism. Experience within a hospice or healthcare setting is welcome, but not essential. What matters most is your ability to write high-quality, compassionate and impactful content.

Working for Rainbows

Rainbows supports babies, children and young people with serious and terminal conditions, helping families make the most of every moment together.

Our care reaches across the East Midlands wherever families need our support from homes, hospitals and community settings to our hospice in Loughborough.

We have a strong culture built around compassion, collaboration and expertise, and we’re proud to have been the first children’s hospice in England rated ‘Outstanding’ across all five CQC domains.

What we can offer you

· A supportive and collaborative team environment

· Flexible and hybrid working opportunities

· Ongoing professional development

· The opportunity to create meaningful work that directly supports fundraising and family care

· A varied role with scope for creativity and innovation

· Free onsite parking at the Hospice, Lark Rise, Loughborough.

· Bupa Healthcare cashback plan.

· Life Assurance.

· 27 days holiday plus bank holidays.

· Contributory pension scheme or Salary Sacrifice Pension Scheme
