What we're looking for

We are looking for a talented Bookkeeper to maintain our financial records and handle financial operations in the charity.

Core duties include processing all routing transactions encompassing supplier invoices, sales invoices, bank transactions, petty cash, credit cards and treasury management. You will also make payments, prepare our in-house payroll and submit pension returns. 

You will work closely with our Finance Director to support the month end close while complying with and upholding the Charity’s policies and procedures. 

 Our ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, ideally have worked for a charity and be familiar with Xero. You will also have at least one of the following: 

• A relevant qualification such as an accountancy or business degree
• Part or fully qualified with an accountancy body, such as the AAT
• Demonstrative qualification by experience.

• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records

Responsibilities

Process all financial transactions in our finance IMS (Xero) accurately and promptly encompassing: 

• Accounts payable 
• Employee and volunteer expense claims 
• Sales invoices, grants, donations and other income 
• Bank transactions 
• Petty cash 
• Credit cards
• Download bank records into the IMS and reconcile all bank accounts 
• Monitor savings and move funds between accounts ensuring that we comply with our investment policy 
• Operate credit control on the sales ledger and issue payment receipts to customers and donors 
• Make payments to creditors and settle expense claims 
• Prepare payroll to draft status, pay staff and HMRC, report pension contributions 
• Electronically store all required records in line with statutory requirements

The Soldiers' and Aviators' Scripture Readers Association (known as SASRA) is one of the longest-established Christian charities supporting the British Armed Forces. Under Royal patronage and working with over 70,000 soldiers, 30,000 RAF personnel and some 10,000 supporters of various types, we look to introduce members of the British Armed Forces to a practical experience of the Christian faith.

The main function of Regional Managers is to bring before the Christian public the work we do taking the gospel of Jesus Christ and bringing a practical experience of the Christian faith to the young people of the British Army and Royal Air Force.

Ark Start is a growing start-up nursery venture within the Ark charity. Their mission is to ensure that every child has access to excellent early years education, and that families benefit from flexible and affordable childcare. They currently have 5 nurseries and have ambitious plans to expand to at least 12 over the next two years. Ark Start is building a dynamic, purpose-driven team to deliver on this vision. They currently have around 50 employees working across the sites.

To support this growth, Ark Start is seeking an experienced and passionate Recruitment Manager paying up to £50,000 to lead on all recruitment, talent and onboarding. This is a unique opportunity for a values led recruitment professional to help shape the charity by successfully recruiting talented individuals into the organisation who align with the values and direction the charity is going.

The organisation is located in White City, with the nurseries based across London. Ark offers flexible working hours, including core hours and some remote working. The role will require someone who will prioritise in-person working, meaning being able to work from the office and their nursery sites at least 3-4 days per week.

Reporting into the Operations Director, some of the key responsibilities of this exciting permanent role include:

• Leading the end-to-end recruitment and onboarding for all nursery-based roles
• Developing and implementing effective talent attraction strategies
• Building partnerships with external organisations to support candidate pipelines
• Supporting managers to develop induction plans for new starters and manage probation periods effectively
• Providing first-line support on recruitment queries
• Ensuring HR and recruitment systems are appropriately set up, accurate, and up to date to support effective decision-making
• · Using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement around recruitment and onboarding.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ experience working in a senior recruitment capacity. This could suit someone with experience of working within a small charity or , a standalone Recruitment Manager looking for a new challenge and a wider remit. You will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills along with the ability to influence.

Job Purpose
Lead and develop the charity’s HR and Volunteering functions (People) to foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive work environment, in line with the organisation’s values and EDI objectives

Key Tasks

Leadership

• Work with the People Sub-Committee (PSC) and SMT to develop and implement organisational people strategies and plans to support the delivery of our organisational strategy for older people.
• Have responsibility for our progress against these plans; measure and report this to PSC and SMT, including by administering our annual people survey, volunteer survey and trustee survey. Identify areas that require improvement and make recommendations for change.

People management

• Oversee People-related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with UK employment law and best practices.
• Support the development and implementation of Learning and Development (L&D) initiatives.
• Provide support and guidance to those in line management roles within the organisation including on performance management issues and processes.
• Provide line management and support to the Community and Volunteer Manager, ensuring 6 their work aligns with organisational priorities.
• Manage complex employee relations cases, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and change management.

Administration

• Ensure all employee compliance requirements are met, including DBS checks, right to work documentation, and up-to-date staff records.

Liaison

• To participate to the National Age UK HR network to exchange insight and learn good practice.
• To liaise with our Solicitor team to ensure compliance when managing complex cases.
• To represent AUKEL and participate in appropriate external meetings and events in order to remain aware of local, regional and national issues affecting quality and compliance issues affecting charitable companies.
• To attend relevant HR/ Employment Law seminars or work groups as the AUKEL HR ambassador.

General

• To meet regularly with the CEO for support, supervision and appraisal.

About the Role

Dreams Come True is seeking an ambitious, strategic and highly skilled Head of Fundraising to lead and expand its income generation and manage and drive a high performing team. This senior role prioritises the development and delivery of an ambitious major donor and individual giving strategy - cultivating, stewarding, and upgrading supporters, including high-net-worth individuals and regular donors. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will diversify income streams, maximise philanthropic support, and ensure the charity's long-term sustainability whilst leading, managing, motivating and inspiring the team.
