You will be responsible for the implementation and day to day project management of the individual giving programme across our existing and new fundraising products, including our regular giving F2F activity, tribute funds and appeals programme.  As part of a small individual giving team you will be working under the direction and authorisation of the Head of Individual Giving.

The Individual Giving team is responsible for income generation from individual supporters and members, using a range of direct marketing techniques via both online and offline channels. This is an exciting time of growth and opportunity for Mothers’ Union and we are looking for an enthusiastic person to take on this challenge and join our successful team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the implementation of Mothers’ Union’s fundraising strategy as defined by the annual Individual Giving fundraising budget and plan.
• To maintain professional standards whilst representing Mothers’ Union, ensuring both the reputation of the charity and adherence to our fundraising standards are maintained.
• To ensure good communication with F2F agencies, internal team members and the public by making sure that external communication channels are kept up to date.
• To be the primary point of contact for all supporter enquiries and complaints related to face to face fundraising.
• Managing and inspiring members and volunteers to support fundraising activities.
• To be proactive in keeping up to date with industry trends and changes.

Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern

This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

About the role

We are seeking a proactive and organised Finance Officer to join our small, friendly team for 1 day per week (0.2 FTE) on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid role, offering a mix of home and occasional office-based working from our base in Hackney.

Working as part of the Development Team, to plan and execute effective fundraising strategies for Derby Theatre. The role will have a particular focus on copywriting for trusts and foundations, cultivating donor relationships and coordinating and developing Derby Theatres’ Friends scheme.  The Development Officer will also deputise for the Head of Development as required.

Key responsibilities

Trusts and Foundations

· Conduct research into possible funding streams for funding priorities.

· Assist in the production of funding reports for existing supporters.

· Update the reporting schedule, to include deadlines.

· Draft applications for small grants (under £15,000) and support the Head of Development in making applications for large grants.

· Assist the Head of Development in creating proposal templates for all key projects.

Individual Giving, including Friends Scheme

· Work closely with the Head of Development to develop and manage the individual giving strategy, including legacy fundraising, to ensure retention and growth.

· Coordinate and administer the Derby Theatre Friends Scheme including payments and renewals alongside the marketing and box office team.

· Work closely with the marketing team to oversee all Friends communications, including scheduling and writing content.

· Take responsibility for stewarding relationships with donors and Friends including arranging meetings and supporter events throughout the year.

· Work with the Box Office team to oversee and grow Point of Sale (POS) donations and Gift Aid sign up, working to achieve targets set and reporting progress to the Head of Development.

Corporate Giving

· Work with the Head of Development to implement the Corporate Giving strategy to include researching and identifying new corporate prospects. Attend networking events to build relationships and take responsibility for cultivating prospects, developing relevant proposals and key messaging and overseeing the administration relating to corporate supporters.

Development Events

• Organise, manage and attend supporters’ evenings including liaising with front of house and catering staff, and managing the guest list.

Administration

· Support the development and executive teams by preparing briefing notes, and research profiles for the fundraising activity.

· Assist the Head of Development in keeping the team informed with any legislation or trends development within fundraising.

· Maintain accurate records on Spektrix and the shared drive, as well as keeping efficient paper files and audit trails where appropriate and make sure financial data is accurate and funds are received timely.

· Liaise with all teams to ensure that project information and budgets are up to date.

· Update the website and printed materials with the relevant fundraising information and credits.

· Support on the collation of data for applications and reports, including Arts Council England reporting.

General

· To actively support and promote Derby Theatre’s Learning Theatre model, including a commitment to engage with the University of Derby’s Theatre-related higher education provision; to contribute to learning opportunities such as work experience, placements, and the theatre’s role as a learning environment.

· To keep up to date with developments in the industry as they relate to your role, and to contribute to the overall development of the department and organisation.

· To take an active role in the team and staff as a whole, and to attend team, departmental or cross-organisation meetings as required.

We are seeking an Administration Officer to join our small and friendly team on a part-time basis (15 hours a week) ideally working 5 half-days, Monday to Friday (3 hours each day) but the exact working pattern is negotiable.

The Finance Officer will join a small and dynamic team that covers Finance, Human Resources, IT and Business Operations. The Finance & Operations team play a critical role by running the day-to-day operations and providing the infrastructure that enables the continued delivery of the Trust’s mission and objectives.

The Sutton Trust is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Finance Officer to join the team and provide crucial support on a range of key finance processes. This is a fast-paced and hands-on role that requires an understanding of basic finance processes. You can expect a steep learning curve in a passionate and supportive working environment.

The Team

This role will fit into the small Finance & Operations team and will be line managed by the Finance Manager.

Main Duties

• Maintaining the Purchase Ledger including processing supplier invoices, staff expense claims, grant and bursary payments, reconciling statements and making the relevant payments
• Maintaining the Sales Ledger including raising invoices and allocating receipts
• Cash management including checking bank transactions daily, allocating transactions on the accounting system and producing regular bank reconciliations. Paying in cheques and reconciling floats, if required
• Maintaining accurate records of both unrestricted and restricted fund transactions including receipts, grants, staff expenses, overheads and cash
• Providing timely and accurate financial support to the Programmes, Development and Research teams to assist them with forecasting, budgeting, reconciliation and (donor) reporting
• Supporting with the month end procedures such as balance sheet reconciliations, depreciation, month end adjustments, salary and overhead allocations
• Gathering monthly payroll information and reviewing monthly payroll reports
• Assisting with the administration of the pension scheme and of employee benefits
• Preparing quarterly Gift Aid claims and maintaining the relevant supporting documentation
• Assisting with the year-end statutory accounts preparation, audit and budget setting process
• Ensuring that the filing is done in a timely manner and that all paperwork is up to date
• Proactively updating your own knowledge in relation to the role, identifying and undertaking appropriate training

Terms of Appointment

You’ll be responsible for researching and approaching funders aligned with our goals, writing compelling proposals, and developing lasting relationships with supporters. Working closely with the Development and Impact Manager and other departments, you’ll help secure funding for both specific projects and core work, ensuring impact is clearly measured and shared.

The role includes developing and delivering individual giving initiatives, supporting legacy campaigns, and identifying sponsorship and partnership opportunities with companies. You'll also contribute to monitoring major grants and support larger fundraising campaigns as needed.

We are seeking an individual with excellent communication skills, previous experience of bid writing and operating giving campaigns within the charitable sector, experience in income generation, and a proactive, collaborative approach. Strong writing, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.

Supporting the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer, the Governance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that effective governance arrangements are in place across the organisation providing key support to the Institution in achieving its strategic and operational goals, and will drive innovation and a culture of continuous improvement in governance processes and procedures.

The Governance Manager will ensure effective management of the Board of Trustees, Congress and Committees of the Board, and will ensure that the Institution complies with its governing documents, relevant legal and regulatory requirements, maintaining compliance with all matters of charity and corporate governance.

Requirements

Organisational governance & compliance

• Provide advice and guidance to the Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees on all governance related matters, including the interpretation of IChemE’s governing documents to ensure excellent governance across the organisation.
• Continuously monitor developments in charity good governance practice, identifying areas for improvement in IChemE’s key governance processes and procedures.
• Effectively manage and communicate any changes in legislation or requirements of the charity commission and other relevant bodies.
• Ensure fulfilment of the governance requirements for all legal entities within IChemE including filings, returns, resolutions and maintenance of records and registers.
• Work with the Head of Finance & Compliance, and others, to ensure controls are embedded and compliance to IChemE’s governing documents is monitored escalating any non-compliance or risks as appropriate.
• Manage IChemE’s internal Corporate Information SharePoint site, ensuring version control of all documents and that information is readily available to internal users.

Governing documents

• Ensure that IChemE’s governing documents (including Royal Charter, By-Laws, Regulations and organisational policies) are kept under continual review, in particular to ensure compliance with, and reflect any changes required by, charity regulators.
• Manage the approval, communication and any necessary ballot for changes to the governing documents for all legal entities within IChemE.
• Regularly review IChemE’s committee structure and Scheme of Delegation to ensure they remain appropriate to meet the needs of the organisation.
• Ensure all committees and sub-committees / panels are properly constituted with clear Terms of Reference in place which are regularly reviewed an updated.

Board of Trustees, Congress and Committees

• Schedule all meetings of the Board of Trustees and committees to fall at strategic times during the year to enable in-depth consideration of agreed agenda items and efficient flow of information and decisions.
• Manage the preparation of high-quality Board and committee papers to facilitate effective discussion and decision making.
• Manage the effective running of Congress, IChemE’s member advisory body to the Board of Trustees.
• Provide follow-up to the Board, committee and Congress meetings through dialogue with senior colleagues and by moving forward outstanding action points.
• Lead on the succession planning and recruitment for the Board of Trustees, and Congress, managing the election process and any necessary ballot of members.
• Work with the Volunteer Engagement Manager, and others, to manage the effective succession planning for all committees.
• Manage the Board of Trustee and Congress induction programme and any ongoing training and development.
• Provide ongoing assessment of the effectiveness of the Board of Trustees and Congress.

Legal support

• Develop and maintain IChemE’s contract management procedures.
• Review contracts and advise colleagues on contractual terms.
• Liaise with IChemE’s external legal advisors for support as and when required with the review of or preparation of contracts and agreements.

Other information

This is a permanent full-time role based on 37.5 hours per week working Monday through to Friday, but a degree of flexibility will be required to meet business needs. The position is based in the Rugby UK office (CV21 3HQ).

The Job Role

As the Director of Finance, ICT and Investments, you will play a pivotal role in shaping MMHS’s financial strategy to support its strategic objectives and enable sound decision-making. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will have a strategic mindset, with the ability to provide insights to your senior colleagues, and you will provide advice and guidance to the board of trustees, becoming a trusted partner. You will develop and deliver financial plans, oversee financial systems to ensure robust control and compliance, and lead key financial activities such as monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, projections, and annual audits. Additionally, you will identify financial challenges and opportunities, develop approaches to address them, and lead and motivate your small team to cultivate a high-performing culture.

In ICT, you will implement MMHS’s strategy effectively, leading transformation projects to modernise and improve technology infrastructure and processes. You will oversee cloud migration, drive data-driven decision-making by leveraging AI and automation, implement plans to support outsourcing, and ensure robust cybersecurity and disaster recovery planning. You will also manage relationships with MMHS’s external support and services provider.

With investments, you will implement MMHS’s strategy, working closely with investment managers and third-party experts to align MMHS’s portfolio with strategic objectives, providing guidance to senior colleagues and the board.
 

The Person

This is a key post for the organisation, and they are looking for someone who can provide a long-term view while being ‘hands-on’ with day-to-day operations.
