It is an exciting time to be joining the charity; our bold new Acting for Impact strategy seeks to increase the charity’s reach and impact within the performing arts community and you would play a key part in helping us achieve our ambitions. 

This Grants and Services Co-ordinator postholder will work directly with our applicants and beneficiaries, supporting them throughout our application processes and working with successful applicants to ensure the charity provides high-quality, appropriate support. This will include making grant decisions and working with beneficiaries to develop their support network.

We are looking for someone with experience of working with clients and service users, particularly as a first point of contact. Key aspects of the role also include supporting service development and leading on data management. Working as part of a small team (of four) you will need to be able to take an adaptable approach to manage competing priorities. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build professional relationships with clients, and work collaboratively with colleagues internally and externally.

About Us

SOS Rape Crisis (SOSRC) is an independent specialist sexual violence charity providing support for adults (regardless of gender), young people and children who have experienced sexual violence and/or child sexual abuse, in Southend, Castle Point and Rochford.

We are part of Synergy Essex, a partnership of three Rape Crisis Centres (SOSRC, SERICC and CARA), funded by the Office for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex to provide a countywide ISVA service.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a dedicated team providing vital support to survivors of sexual violence and abuse. As a Navigator Project Worker, you will be the first point of contact for individuals accessing Southend-on-Sea Rape Crisis services. You will offer compassionate, trauma-informed, and needs led support, helping survivors feel heard and understood from the outset. Through careful assessment and informed referrals, you’ll play a key role in connecting survivors with the most appropriate services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a professional and empathic first point of contact for survivors of sexual violence and/or abuse.

• Offer one-off emotional and practical support, and provide information, signposting and onward referrals.

• Complete initial assessments to identify their needs and most appropriate next steps.

• Keep accurate, timely and confidential records on the case management system.

• Work in partnership with SOSRC colleagues including the Counselling and ISVA Teams.

• Attend team meetings, one-to-ones, clinical supervision, line management and other meetings as required.

• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection legislation and guidelines.

• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation and meet administrative requirements.

• Work in accordance with all SOSRC policies and procedures.

• Attend regular training and maintain a good working knowledge of sexual violence and its impact.

• Promote a trauma-informed and survivor-centred approach in all aspects of the role.

• Actively contribute to the delivery of a safe, effective and high-quality service.

About You

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Experience of delivering support and/or information to vulnerable people.

• Experience of working in a voluntary organisation, public sector or health and social care setting.

• Experience of maintaining accurate and confidential records.

• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and risk management.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Understanding of trauma-informed practice.

• Ability to work on own initiative.

• Proficiency in IT including Microsoft Office and online systems.

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Events and Marketing Assistant to provide support for a range of events and marketing-related activities. This is a permanent post, subject to confirmation after a probationary period of 6 months. The post would be particularly suited to a recent events management or marketing graduate looking to develop a career in events management or in marketing for a charity or educational organisation.

The Role

The person appointed will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications and work as part of a small team of staff responsible for events and marketing. The person will be involved in all aspects of the marketing and events team’s work including:

• Setup and support for the running of events for the Institute;
• Dealing with event enquiries on a day to day basis;
• Running online events including recording and editing of video recordings;
• Recording events using still photography and posting on the websites and social media;
• Updating and maintaining the Marketing and Events team documentation and databases;
• Creation of content and posting on the BIICL social media channels;
• Maintenance of the BIICL websites including creation and updating of content using the sites’ CMS;
• Production and editing of printed and digital materials for events and other marketing activity;
• Liaising with a range of stakeholders including members, event attendees, suppliers and partner organisations;
• Online research for targeting of BIICL events and courses;

Person Specification

It is expected that the successful applicant will demonstrate and provide evidence of the following:

•  A degree or equivalent experience in event co-ordination or marketing;
• Experience of supporting events;
• Effective project management skills and good attention to detail;
• Strong administrative and organisational skills;
• A personable, presentable and articulate team member with the ability and willingness to work collaboratively and collegially with colleagues;
• Good copywriting skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and succinctly;
•  An interest in the design of marketing communications;
• Highly proficient user of MS 365 and office programmes, social media platforms and Zoom / other video conferencing software;
• Knowledge of multi-media editing;
• Experience of Mailchimp, SogoSurvey, Adobe InDesign, or Canva would be a benefit.
