We are looking for a Bid Manager and Writer to join our Bid Team, which is part of the wider Development, Marketing, and Communications Department! You will support the delivery of effective business development strategies and activities to achieve organisational growth and to enhance our existing services!

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, 09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday, based in our central office in Islington, with flexible work from home available. You will also be expected to travel across London and the South East, as well as our other locations to attend market engagement and bid related activities and attend regular service visits.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Bid Writing and Management

• Lead in all elements of the bidding process which includes writing competitive bids within strict deadlines.
• Identify, research, and communicate opportunities and needs across the organisation, working proactively with colleagues at all levels to identify fundable initiatives.
• Host internal and external briefings and liaise with relevant teams to develop compelling bids which are fit for purpose, realistic, and aligned with organisational needs and aims.
• Lead the development of specific bid responses which includes the structure, content, and responses. Ensure tenders are submitted on time and achieve the highest scores by the evaluator(s).
• Develop and manage an internal network of subject matter experts and bring them into the development and writing process as required.
• Support colleagues in developing presentations, and briefings.

Partnership Building

• Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships internally throughout the organisation and externally with external partners and organisations.
• Represent Social Interest Group and our subsidiaries in market engagement and events online and in-person and support with all aspects of enhancing and developing our brand.

Organisational Growth

• Identify priorities from strategy and business plans, translating growth plans into effective practices aligned to SIG’s mission, vision, and values.
• Collect and share information relevant to teams involved in Mobilisations and TUPE’s for won bids. Ensure communication is clear, and concise, providing a logical strategy and direction to follow to ensure a smooth transition for new contracts.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. 

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Previous experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities, this includes a track record of securing new bids and/or retaining existing contracts
• Previous experience in bid/proposal writing, reviewing, and editing
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, experience in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability and willingness to travel and attend market engagement events and to visit services to gain greater understanding of what SIG offers and to inform teams of relevant tender responses
• Ability to create and write engaging content, with proofreading skills
• Proven ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks and competing priorities within a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral and ability to build relationships
• Ability to review large amounts of information and research materials to inform model development and shape tender responses
• Proficiency in navigating tender portals

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience managing the full bidding process end to end from pre market engagement and contract notification, through to award
• Previous experience working in the same or similar sector

About Pancreatic Cancer Action:

Pancreatic Cancer Action (PCA) was founded in 2010 by a rare survivor of the disease. We are a small, creative and passionate team committed to improving early diagnosis and saving lives. In August 2020, Pancreatic Cancer Action merged with Pancreatic Cancer Scotland making our team stronger than ever. 

Pancreatic cancer has only a 7% survival rate and this figure has not improved significantly for over 50 years. Despite it being the 5th biggest cancer killer in the UK, pancreatic cancer receives only 3% of overall research funding. 

With a strong focus on early diagnosis, it is Pancreatic Cancer Action’s aim to improve survival rates through raising awareness, medical education, improved patient information and by funding research specifically into the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Simply put, we want more people diagnosed in time for surgery, currently the only potential for a cure.

Main responsibilities:  

• Develop and grow the annual programme of fundraising events such as the London Marathon and Great North Run.
• Grow and steward a pipeline of new and existing community and events audiences and fundraising opportunities with a particular focus on England. Ensuring to always maintain the highest quality supporter journey.
• Manage the delivery of the virtual challenge events. Add insight and support the annual Pancreatic Awareness Month Campaign and help to further develop Pyjama’s for Pan Can to new audiences.
• As a senior member of the Income Generation Team you will contribute to robust financial planning, management and reporting of income and expenditure in your own areas of expertise.
• Responsible for the delivery and recruitment into PCA’s Challenge Events programme making sure participants receive exceptional supporter care.

We are seeking an experienced individual to develop our marketing and communications function and to help build our reputation as a centre of excellence in biblical studies. This is a varied and exciting role within a vibrant and ambitious small charity.

Tyndale House is a renowned institute for biblical studies and possesses one of the finest libraries for biblical research in the world. It aims to grow an international research community, to present the value of the Bible at the highest academic level, to resource the Church to understand and trust the Bible, and to promote informed attitudes to the Bible.

Working collaboratively across our small Communications and Development team, the post holder will develop, deliver and co-ordinate an integrated and effective marketing and communications plan. He/She will oversee day-to-day marketing activities and track their success and will help to deliver communications which are both engaging and professional.

The successful candidate will have an established track record of marketing and communications work, including digital and social media, and an ability to write and edit copy for different audiences. General administrative skills and an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages are essential. Training in software relevant to the role as well as mentoring and development opportunities will be offered.

About the role

Becoming the Programme Marketing Manager at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is a fantastic opportunity to help drive progress for women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries by engaging more people in our work.

The key purpose of this role is to effectively market our programmes to participants – chiefly our HerVenture business skills microlearning app and our sector-leading Mentoring Women in Business programme.

This will span three main projects:

· to successfully manage a marketing agency to effectively market the HerVenture app to women in South Africa (as part of a fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Mar ‘25);

· to successfully manage the same marketing agency to promote the app in Nigeria (as part of a separate fixed-term project with active marketing ongoing until Dec ‘24); and

· to effectively promote the opportunity to become a mentor to a woman entrepreneur through our Mentoring Women in Business programme to paying professionals worldwide. Your objective will be to secure 18+ paid mentors for the Nov ’24 programme intake and 20+ for the May ’25 intake.

Following the completion of the two HerVenture marketing projects, you will also lead other programme marketing initiatives in 2025. These will be determined in late 2024.

Following the May ’25 Mentoring intake you will deliver a strategy, harnessing your learning and analysis to outline an approach for marketing the programme to paying mentors in future.

You will also be called on to support other forms of programme marketing on an ad hoc basis, for example advising on development of corporate pitch decks, or co-designing materials for fundraising events.

This position reports directly to the Head of Communications and Marketing, however this is a highly collaborative role and you will also work closely with the Entrepreneurship programmes team and the Programme Funding team to develop and deliver plans and manage projects.

Our ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and motivated marketer with experience in ‘selling’ professional development / online volunteering opportunities, and in managing agencies and contractors to deliver on fixed projects as aligned to good marketing practices. You should be highly organised and goals-driven, with a collaborative approach, a growth-oriented mindset, and a strong desire to harness the power of marketing to support women’s economic empowerment.

This is a newly created role working within our Fundraising & Communication Dept.

Role summary

Working within our fundraising and communications team, you will support the management of our communications portfolio of work. Maintaining our consistent brand, you will lead on digital and print asset development. You will lead on supporter communications, assisting the rest of the team to raise the profile and bring new supporters into the organisation. You will manage our social channels, website content and newsletter, and developing creative assets and materials for our external work both in the UK and the US.

9. Support community fundraising activities, empowering existing and newly sourced supporters, (including schools, universities and other members of the public) to independently generate funds for Able Child Africa through independent events and activities.

Provide other support to the Fundraising and Communications and wider operational teams as agreed, including supporting routine office operations.

10. Maintain our Salesforce database, keeping detailed records of communications, support and donations from individuals and organisations.

11. Support our advocacy objectives, working with the Advocacy team to produce high quality and consistent messaging for use within the international development sector.

Competencies

Experience

1. At least one years’ experience in a fundraising or communications support role.

FUNDRAISING MANAGER (INTERIM)

We have an exciting opportunity to join the thriving and dynamic SARSAS team as our Fundraising Manager.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to help SARSAS realise it’s vision of a world without sexual violence, through our ambitious strategy to extend our preventive programmes and maintain our essential high-quality services. Through developing and expanding income generated through trust and grants, corporate giving and individual giving, you will help us to be part of the systems change to end gender-based violence.

You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and team leads to understand funding priorities, identify potential funders and donors and develop compelling funding bids, proposals and appeals. This will include collaboration to develop partnership proposals.

You will undertake new prospect research and develop and nurture excellent donor relationships. You will seek opportunities to strengthen and build on existing and lapsed funding relationships and be proactive about identifying further development opportunities.

In order to realise our ambitions, we need to extend our programme of fundraising growth, so we can increase our annual income from circa £3 million to in excess of £3.5 million.

About you

Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income opportunities with individuals, corporate partners and grant giving trusts and foundations. You'll bring our cause to life and building lasting funder and donor relationships, leading the drive for new donor engagement and securing sustainable, multi-year funding.

Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of building relationships with corporate partners, individuals and other donors to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. You’ll have ability support and mentor your team and the capacity yourself to create and craft compelling bids, proposals and appeals that successfully engage and attract donations from new and existing supporters.

You will be an exemplary relationship builder and have experience in developing multi-faceted partnerships (ideally with experience and success in employee engagement, corporate sponsorship, and/or operational partnerships).

We are a small team and so you will be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to help out team members and to support new business across other income streams.

SARSAS exists to relieve the trauma and distress, and help rebuild the lives, of survivors who live in Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and BANES, who have experienced any form of sexual violence, at any point in their lives.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising delivery and development

• Develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess of £500k per annum, establishing a fundraising pipeline and a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
• Set up and manage clear planning processes to prepare funding applications, providing clear guidance to colleagues and external partners, which supports effective collaboration, and ensures the submission of high-quality bids, on time.
• Work with and support external consultants and colleagues to help secure fundraising partnerships and income from grant giving trusts and foundations.
•  Write high quality, well-written persuasive and compelling funding applications to secure grant funding.
•  Support the Corporate Partnerships Lead to develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage corporate partners and align with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.
• Develop the SARSAS Individual Giving Strategy and support the FunComms Administrator and wider Comms team to design and deliver excellent, engaging and regular communications and powerful fundraising appeals alongside establishing the associated data and systems to grow our income and pool of individual supporters making one off or monthly donations.
•  Keep up-to-date and accurate records of fundraising activities and provide quarterly updates to the senior leadership team.

Relationship management and stewardship

•  With colleagues, undertake market research and funding insight to identify new prospects and grow our income and pool of supporters.
•  Identify and broker relationships with key funders capable of funding against our fundraising priorities, providing high-quality relationship management, using appropriate communication tools and channels to maintain relationships with key individuals and organisations.
•  Design and implement generic and bespoke stewardship plans for our current network of donors, working closely with the Communications Team on the development of mailings, reports, and events as necessary.
•  Provide advice and support, as necessary, for staff who serve as primary contacts for funders/donors, to ensure that relationships are maintained to a high standard.
•  Build strong relationships across SARSAS and work with teams in an integrative way to achieve organisational ambitions.

Planning, monitoring and evaluation

•  Working closely with the SLT and relevant managers, develop a funding pipeline, which aligns across all programmes, and collaborate on quarterly update reports for the Board of Trustees and the Finance, Risk & HR Sub-Committee.
• Support SLT/ team leads to define fundraising priorities, ensuring that resources are deployed in a timely, and proportionate manner.
•  Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to evidence the impact of fundraising activities, including raised income, donor acquisition, donor retention, return on investment, donor engagement metrics, and our fundraising growth rate.
•  Oversee full implementation of Donorfy system for fundraising
•  Provide high-quality monitoring and evaluation reports.

Staff management

•  Provide leadership for your team, inspiring and motivating staff, freelancers and volunteers, setting KPIs, reviewing and improving performance, ensuring fundraising meets/exceeds targets.
• Provide and/or oversee line management of team members, ensuring that professional standards are maintained, and staff wellbeing is supported.
•  Ensure that all work adheres to all policies including Safeguarding and Data Protection guidelines.
•  Work alongside the HR Officer, to co-ordinate the recruitment of training staff.

Additional information

•  Undertake any other duties commensurate within the role including working flexibility to organisational priorities.
•  Work as part of a team, promoting the ethos and values of SARSAS.
• Ensure that all work is conducted in line with SARSAS policies and procedures and Rape Crisis England & Wales (RCEW) National Service Standards.
• Attend all training, whether statutory or non-statutory, as required.
•  Adhere to SARSAS’s policies and procedures.
•  Actively participate in the risk assessment, management of risk process, and all aspects of Health and Safety.

Contract information

Salary: £36,000 pa FTE
Hours: 37 hours per week (or as agreed)
Responsible to: Head of Income Generation (CEO while this post is vacant)
Based: Bristol based with up to 50% working from home
Annual Leave: 27 days + bank holidays (pro-rata)
Contract: Fixed term up to 12 months

This is a new role, and you will be joining the team at an exciting point in its development, as we consider how we evolve the work. You will work closely with our Community Impact Lead to support both the delivery and the development of our community work. The Community Impact work at Resource Futures is an important part of our business; it captures a number of long-term projects which are at the heart of our company. These include Community RePaint, Community Action Groups Devon, Community Action Groups Somerset, the Fixy project, the Gloucestershire Real Nappy Project and more.

We are looking to build on our strengths and track record of delivering quality, impactful community projects. We therefore have an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join our Community Impact team.

What you will be doing

• Project delivery: Getting involved in project delivery, such as foundational research for project development and delivering workshops.
• Project management: Overseeing the effective delivery of projects, including reporting, and supporting the planning and set up of new projects as they come online.
• Innovation and Development: Supporting us to improve and expand our projects and programmes. You will also assist in identifying new projects or funding opportunities and contribute to the preparation of funding proposals. This may involve exploring options for the governance structure of this area of work.
• Marketing and communications: Promoting our projects, developing our external communications and acting as an ambassador for our community work.
• Monitoring and evaluation: We are on a journey to better capture the impact of specific projects, and the impact that our community work has collectively. You will take an active role in supporting this element of our work.
• Partnership working: Collaboration is key to our approach. You will liaise with existing clients and partners for project delivery, develop new partnerships to further our aims and also take part in key networking and external events.
• Team development: You will work closely with the Community Impact Lead to contribute to the development of the team, during our team meetings and away days. You will be comfortable managing staff, teams and subcontractors to deliver desired outcomes.
• Day-to-day operations: Working closely with the Community Impact Lead, HR and Finance, to support our remote project teams, problem solve issues as they arise, develop our internal systems and processes, maximise efficiencies and drive improvements.
