What You'll Do

As our Charity Director, you'll take ownership of our day-to-day operations while driving our continuing development. Working 2-3 days per week from our Newtown office (with hybrid working options available), you'll:

Grant Management & Community Impact

• Manage the full grants application, review and reporting process
• Monitor charity effectiveness and recommend improvements to trustees

Financial & Administrative Leadership

• Liaise with investment managers and accountants
• Manage bank accounts and maintain accurate financial records

Communications & Engagement

Strategic Development

Who We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5 years in relevant roles with a proven track record of delivery
• Sector Knowledge: Practical experience of the third sector in Wales, working in or with charities
• Language: Fluent English (Welsh proficiency highly desirable)
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint applications
• Personal Qualities: High professional standards, excellent people skills, and ability to work independently

• University degree in a relevant discipline

The Senior Bid and Funding Officer is a new role for Involve as we seek to build the infrastructure to support the growth that we have experienced in recent years.  This role will sit within our Finance & Support Services function and will work alongside colleagues at all levels in the Innovation & Practice, Capacity Building & Standards and Advocacy & Communications functions to identify and provide compelling proposals in response to fundraising and tender opportunities. 

As Senior Bid and Funding Officer you will be responsible for identifying fundraising opportunities to bring forwards to the team for evaluation and coordinating the submission of returns ensuring high quality tenders are produced that meet the needs of funders and commissioners.  You will support function leads in monitoring fundraising outcomes and comparing to income generation targets, developing a database of funders and improving tender response processes to reduce the administrative burden of tender responses without compromising on quality.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of managing the tender return process in other organisations, either in a commercial or charitable sector environment. You will bring strong project management skills, be able to coordinate tender submissions to set deadlines and have an inquisitive mindset to enjoy researching opportunities and thinking creatively how Involve can meet funder requirements while also advancing our mission.

We work across the UK, with offices in Belfast and London. Many of our staff work from home across the UK or in a hybrid pattern, rather than being based at one of our offices, though we meet up regularly as a team. Yateley Industries is a unique and ambitious charity which has provided employment in our factory, training, accommodation and community engagement for disabled and neurodivergent adults for over 90 years. Our mission is to create a more inclusive society where everyone can thrive.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, organised and experienced sports and challenge fundraiser, to deliver a review of our sports and challenge events programme, identifying new opportunities to grow our income.

Working closely with the Head of Individual Giving and Fundraising Campaigns, you will develop strategies and bring new ideas to grow and develop this programme, potentially including community events – to deliver significant growth in income over the next 5 years.

In this feasibility review, you will analyse our past performance including in well-established, externally organised activities such as marathons and third-party challenge events, and our partner events such as the Terry Fox Runs. You will also assess the feasibility of developing and launching our own-branded events.

During the review, you will line-manage the Sports and Challenge Events Officer to maintain and deliver our current successful events programme and work together on the feasibility review to identify new opportunities for innovation and ways to increase participation. 

You will build key relationships across the department and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, to identify and work through new ways to grow participation and increase fundraising income.

At the end of the review, you will present your findings, making recommendations on the key components for a future sports and challenge programme that reflect our ambitions for growth, with plans to deliver it.

This is initially a fixed term project contract. There is potential for the role to become permanent dependent on the direction and outcomes of the review.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will lead a review of our sports and challenge events programme, including third-party activities such as marathons and challenge events, using data to analyse past performance (income and ROI) and assess the feasibility for developing our own-brand sports, challenge or community events – whilst maintaining the success our current programme of activities.

You will:

• Review, develop and prepare plans to deliver a profitable, engaging and effective annual programmes of sports, challenge and community event opportunities.
• Be responsible for managing the annual available sports marketing budget and contributing to annual budget planning.
• Create innovative new sports and challenge events, designed to attract and retain supporters and develop plans to launch these on time, and to budget.
• Work with Communications and Digital teams to develop comprehensive marketing plans to promote our events, secure participants and increase levels of engagement.
• Work with your team to set targets and monitor progress of fundraisers – and manage their participation in cost-effective ways, to maximise return on investment.
• Support your team to provide excellent stewardship and supporter experience, with pre and post event contact, to encourage repeat participation.
• Collaborate with Development teams to cross sell and identify leads for fundraisers from other areas of fundraising, such as major gifts, corporate, appeals and legacies.
• Be responsible for managing and the personal development of your team, to deliver their campaigns and activities, to agreed objectives and KPIs.

Philanthropy Manager

Purpose of the role

We are looking for a passionate and strategic Philanthropy Manager to help drive our mission to restore wildlife and create a world where nature thrives. This role is focused on raising vital funds from private individuals to support ZSL’s conservation work. You will lead on engaging new and stewarding existing individual supporters, securing mid-value to high-value donations. Helping to build deep, lasting relationships and grow a sustainable income stream that powers our global impact.

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of spending at least two days a week in the office, alongside attending occasional off-site meetings with donors and stakeholders. As with many major gift roles, there may be some evening or weekend work to support events, donor visits, or special experiences.

Key responsibilities:

• Fundraising Strategy: Implement plans to attract high-value individual philanthropists in collaboration with the Head of Philanthropy.
• Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors to secure major gifts.
• Prospect Research: Identifying and researching potential major donors who align with the organisation's mission and goals, with support from the Prospect Research Manager.
• Proposal Writing: Craft compelling and personalised proposals and presentations to secure funding from various sources.
• Event Management: Support the organisation and delivery of events to cultivate relationships with donors and prospects.

About You

• A degree or equivalent qualification.
• Proposal writing and presentation development to engage individual philanthropists.
• Proven track record of securing major gifts from individuals or institutions.
• Experience with fundraising databases and donor management systems.
• Experience working with senior volunteers in a fundraising context.

Role Summary

This senior leadership role will oversee the strategic planning, management and reporting of the Natural History Museum’s major fundraising campaign NHM150, the campaign to raise £150m to revitalise our South Kensington home ahead of our 150th anniversary.  The successful candidate will combine exceptional relationship-building skills with proven campaign management expertise to support the Development team’s fundraising objectives.  Reporting to the Director of Development the post-holder will lead a team of development professionals to deliver insightful prospect research, manage systems for donor journeys and lead on excellent donor stewardship for the Development team.  They will also manage the continuous improvement of the Development CRM and ensure that excellent income processing and reporting systems are in place.  A key member of the Development Group’s Senior Leadership Team, the post-holder will work with colleague across the Museum to ensure that the NHM150 Campaign and major funding bids are aligned with the Museum’s wider strategy and operating plan.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Planning

• Support the development of campaign strategies aligned with organisational priorities and timelines
• Work with the Director of Development and the heads of fundraising to establish fundraising goals, metrics, and benchmarks for campaign success
• Create detailed campaign plans including case statements, prospect identification, solicitation strategies, and timeline management
• Collaborate with executive leadership and NHM150 Fellows to continue to refine campaign objectives and messaging 

Campaign Execution & Management

• Manage campaign logistics including, communications, materials development, and donor cultivation activities
• Liaise closely with the Head of Special Events to ensure that NHM150 projects and donors are at the heart of NHM hosted events
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including development staff, communications, finance, and external consultants
• Monitor campaign progress against established metrics and adjust strategies as needed
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and organisational policies

Prospect Research and Stewardship

• Lead the prospect research function responsible for identifying major gift and partnerships prospects including individuals, foundations, corporations, and government entities
• Develop and lead prospect tracking and management systems ensuring excellent cultivation and solicitation plans are in place across the Development function
• With the support of the Director of Development’s Executive Assistant coordinate volunteer engagement and peer-to-peer fundraising activities
• Lead the stewardship function, ensuring that Development wide policies are developed and implemented and that these are coordinated with colleagues across the Museum, and that donors are recognised and stewarded to the highest standards.

Development Operations

• Ensure the accurate and timely processing off all Development income, liaising closely with colleagues in Finance to improve and maintain accurate and insightful reporting to improve planning.
• Manage the smooth and effective running of Development Group’s CRM (Raisers Edge) ensuring compliant, accurate and effective systems
• Ensure the Database and Reporting Manager oversees a pipeline of donor data screening, cleaning and segmentation in order to ensure accuracy, consistency and functionality of data, and that clear and accessible training and procedures are in place for and delivered to database users
• Ensure accurate and timely management of the Development Group’s corporate expenditure, including CRM supplier, membership bodies and regulatory costs.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead and mentor a team of development professionals, providing guidance on campaign strategies and donor management
• Recruit, train, and supervise campaign staff and consultants as needed
• Foster a collaborative team environment focused on achieving campaign objectives
• Provide professional development opportunities and performance management for direct reports

What we’re looking for

Essential

• Experience of working strategically and contributing to the development and implementation of organisational strategy and business planning within a not-for-profit/fundraising environment
• Experience of analysing, interpreting and communicating complex management information to senior stakeholders, including developing and monitoring effective KPIs
• Experience of developing and managing fundraising plans and income and expenditure budgets
• Experience of financial processes relating to fundraising, such as Gift Aid, target setting and monitoring
• Experience of delivering excellent stewardship to diverse donor constituencies
• Experience of working with fundraising databases such as Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Dynamics
• Experience of leading multi-functional and high achieving teams to deliver excellent results, including motivating and coaching staff and dealing effectively with any performance issues
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
