About this role

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a strategic, passionate advocate to drive SPANA’s global policy influence and advocacy agenda. As Head of Advocacy, you will shape and implement our advocacy strategy, engage with national and international policy institutions, support global partners with advocacy tools and training, and ensure that working animal welfare is prioritised across global agendas. 

You will be a high-profile ambassador for the charity, building relationships, driving coalitions and ensuring our policy work is informed, inclusive and impactful. You will also play a key role in strengthening our internal advocacy capacity, building and leading a team of advocacy focal points across key global partner programmes, as well as an Advocacy Officer based in the UK. You will embed advocacy across programmes and lead a culture of reflection and results-based influence. 

Contract, location and salary

This is a full-time (34.5 hours per week), permanent role. This role is UK based, hybrid working with regular attendance (approximately 1-2 days per month, or more if preferred) in our London office. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK currently and for the duration of the contract. 

The salary for this position is c.£55,000-£60,000 per annum, subject to skills and experience. SPANA is pleased to offer a range of benefits including a generous company pension scheme with 10% employer contribution if the employee contributes a minimum 5%, and health care cash plan.

Hours of work

• Your normal hours of work will between 9am and 5pm (35 hours per week). Some flexibility of working hours may be required in accordance with the needs of the charity.

Glitch is looking for an Advocacy and Communications Manager to help support the charity's work — ensuring technology does not further or replicate discrimination towards Black women and gender-expansive people. This position offers the opportunity to lead on UK tech policy developing and promoting our Black feminist approach to key UK legislation through advocacy and communications to relevant audiences and stakeholders. 

Specifically, you will lead on our tech-facilitated gender-based violence issue area, working on the Online Safety Act and engaging with relevant government ministers and parliamentarians, as well as our online violence against women coalition partners, and the Online Safety Act Network. Ideal Candidate

To be successful at Glitch, the Advocacy & Communications Manager must demonstrate an understanding of and passion for Black feminist thought, and the ability to translate this critical social theory into advocacy and communications work, specifically in pushing towards systemic change with/in: tech policy, digital rights, tech-facilitated gender-based violence and algorithmic injustice.

Advocacy (50%)

• Support the Advocacy Director in the delivery of the Mitigation strand of advocacy work.

About the Role

As Media Lead you will be responsible for running the charity's busy press office and you will play a central role in shaping how Victim Support is seen and heard in the media. You'll write and deliver a strategic Media Plan that positions the charity as a trusted and recognised victims' voice, increases the profile of our services and contributes to influencing positive change.

The CEO is excited to welcome a proactive, purpose-driven, and resourceful Communications and Engagement Lead to join their small and purposeful team and support the next phase in their journey.

In this multi-faceted role, you will ensure that women affected by Fowler’s Syndrome, clinicians, researchers, and the wider public are intimately connected to the charity’s work.You will enable smoother pathways for women seeking support and for healthcare professionals looking to access educational resource, while also leading on a range of communications activities and awareness campaigns.

You will take responsibility for coordinating and facilitating online patient groups, supporting in-person events, and helping to manage FSUK’s Patient Council. Tasked with overseeing the development of content such as patient resources, you will also advance wider engagement across projects and research programmes and ensure that communications, whether via newsletters, social channels, or the website, reflect the charity’s voice and values.

While having strategic oversight and leading on the management of FSUK’s digital platforms, including their WordPress website and database consisting of patients and supporters, you will also maintain the charity’s fundraising pages. Through managing FSUK’s social platforms, you will at times also interact with the charity’s online community, responding with empathy as you engage and signpost to appropriate services such as the FSUK helpline, ensuring people feel heard, informed, and supported.

Lastly, raising awareness of FSUK will be one strand of the communications output, however the primary focus is to enable stronger connections and deepen engagement and trust with their valued community.

Emotional intelligence and well defined interpersonal skills are essential, as well as having proficient organisational ability and the aptitude to multi-task when working independently within this small, yet fast-moving team.

A background in patient, community, or stakeholder engagement will also be a valuable asset, alongside exposure to working within the health, charity, or research sector. You will have demonstrable experience producing content, alongside a track record of managing digital and social platforms (particularly Instagram).

Lived experience of Fowler’s Syndrome is not essential but would be a welcome bonus!

About Evolve

Evolve is a Business Charity Awards nominated collaboration between three longstanding corporate partners, a corporate foundation and ELBA. We do this by developing organisational capacity, especially with leadership, for those who are tackling the complex needs presented by the cost-of-living crisis.

The project is currently in its fifth year with funding secured for the following year until December 2026 with the prospect of continued work thereafter.

About the role

The purpose of the role is to lead the successful delivery of ELBA’s Evolve Project, delivering employer-supported volunteering projects that meet the needs of the communities of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Haringey, and expectations of the corporate partners.

The role requires an ability to build close and collaborative relationships across the community sector, particularly with infrastructure organisations of the three boroughs, likewise the corporate partners. The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of innovative workshops and long term employee volunteering activities (including ELBA’s flagship coaching programmes) to build resilience in communities. The Project Manager will also lead monthly and quarterly steering group meetings, reporting on impact to the corporate partners.

The post is managed by the Head of Community Programmes, with strategic programme support from the Partnership Director.

Key duties

· Lead day-to-day development, planning and delivery of Evolve workshops and programmes

· Identify and build relationships with a range of community stakeholders, including charities, community groups, Councils, funders, social enterprises and grassroots organisations to understand community needs

· Design and deliver impactful employee volunteering activities to address these needs, aligned with the skills, knowledge and expertise of the corporate volunteers

· Achieve delivery targets of employee volunteers engaged and beneficiaries supported

· Build and maintain strong relationships with Evolve partners’ Corporate Social Responsibility teams. Manage cohorts of corporate volunteers in line with project targets

· Organise and lead monthly delivery meetings and quarterly project steering group meetings with the Evolve corporate partners

· Maintain strong impact reporting for the project, providing annual reports and mid-year reports to track volunteer and beneficiary engagement

· Proactively generate comms articles, case studies, and awards nominations to highlight the successes of Evolve

The Role 

The Head of Marketing and Communications will shape and lead a new marketing and comms strategy in line with our Phab Strategy 2025 to 2030 – raising awareness of our work, growing our supporter base, championing inclusive practice, and ensuring that our messaging reflects and amplifies disabled voices. 

You will work closely with teams across the charity, especially fundraising, Adventures, and ACTS, to develop content and that help us connect with new audiences, demonstrate impact, and position Phab as a leader in disability inclusion. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategy and Leadership 

• Develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy aligned with Phab’s mission and strategic objectives 

• Line manage and support the Social Media & Club Support Executive, and oversee the work of external freelancers/agencies where required

• Lead brand development and ensure consistency and accessibility across all channels and materials 

• Support the planning and delivery of Phab’s 70th Anniversary celebrations, with strong storytelling and visibility 

Campaigns and Content 

• Plan and deliver engaging multi-channel campaigns to promote Phab’s services, projects, and fundraising efforts

• Strong strategic acumen combined with a track record of delivering high-impact, multi-channel campaigns from conception to evaluation. 

• Proven expertise in fundraising communications, including shaping compelling supporter journeys that drive engagement and income growth. 

• Established networks and sector contacts that can be leveraged to amplify Phab’s reach and reputation.

What you’ll do

1. Internal communications (~2.5 days per week)

As our Internal Communications and Events Lead, you will play a key role in engaging, informing, and inspiring our team with what’s happening at Unifrog. You’ll also help us to work even better together, and to retain a happy and effective team.

Your main responsibilities:

• Coordinate our whole team commss

  • Deliver our internal comms strategy, work towards our People team goal and objectives, and use our House Style.

  • Create our monthly internal Unifrog newsletter, writing your own segments, editing other people’s contributions, and evaluating engagement.

  • Collate data from team surveys and work with the People and Leadership teams to put ideas from the team into action.

• Improve the way that we communicate and work together:

  • Share best practice and deliver training on our comms tools (e.g. Slack, Gmail, Asana).

  • Research, trial and introduce new comms tools or upgrades where appropriate, training the team on how to use them.

  • Join our AI working group, whose goal is to support the team to use AI more effectively (e.g. leading training, sharing use-cases from across Unifrog).

  • Support teams with communication challenges (e.g. streamlining comms traffic).

  • Support team members to easily find the best contact for different questions and tasks.

• Manage our existing comms tools:

  • Audit our usage and budget to make sure we’re maximising value.

  • Manage individual and team subscriptions to our comms tools.

  • Help to troubleshoot team questions and issues.

• Keep our ‘Unifrog Essentials’ and ‘Who to Contact’ documents up-to-date, and support team leads to keep our Dropbox folders organised.

• Work with our Recruitment Lead and Marketing team to shout externally about what’s going on at Unifrog, sharing photos and stories on our website and social media. 

2. Internal events (~2.5 days per week)

Now that Unifrog has 115 team members across the UK and beyond, it’s more important than ever that everyone feels connected, both to each other and to our wider mission. 

We currently have:

1. Three whole company “team days” per year (2x in person, 1x virtual)

2. Two “away days” per team per year (in person)

3. Regular socials at our London office

4. Regular remote socials

Your main responsibilities:

• Plan our whole company team days:

  • Work closely with our CEO and the Leadership team to decide on the team day agenda, budget and format.

  • Find and book venues, hotels, social activities, and meals, and make sure everything’s set up and runs smoothly on the day.

• Support senior managers to plan their away days:

  • Advise on agendas and book venues, socials, and training.

  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration (one of each team’s away days is partly combined with another team).

• Evaluate our team events and continually look to improve their quality, impact, and inclusivity.

• Plan remote socials and office socials for our London HQ.

• Support our Unifrog affinity groups - spaces where team members who share common identities (e.g. being parents), can connect, support each other and champion inclusivity.

• Keep our EDI calendar up-to-date, and mark and celebrate occasions important to people across the team, including cultural heritage months, awareness days, and commemorative events.

Working together

You’ll be part of our People team alongside our: People Assistant, People Coordinator Recruitment Lead, People Lead, Head of People Operations, and People and Operations Director (your line manager).

You’ll also regularly work with a variety of other team members (especially line managers) when organising events.
